Log;

This sort of thing was much easier back home. Bootlegging was in high demand, but here in the City, any and all alcohol was available for the price of a penny. Here, you could purchase nearly anything with nothing. Perhaps the real trade was all the curses the denizens had to suffer through on a nearly daily basis.

So the real challenge was to find something in high demand that was most certainly not readily available. Memories were what the deities dealt in, but hearts? That was something new and altogether rather...mystical. Obviously he wasn't capable of doing such a thing on his own, but if he could just track down who it was taking those hearts, perhaps a deal could be struck. Secrets could be shared. Methods traded.

He was just trying to make out a specific network post about yet another heart being taken when a furry little head suddenly blocked his view, and he sat back to find the kitten dubbed Tony making his way across the keyboard.

Reaching out, Alfons snatched him up and gave him a good glare before setting him down on the floor. "Nill... You're supposed to be watching him."

The girl smiled sweetly and nodded, quickly signing an "I'm sorry Alfons" with her hands before taking up the naughty kitten. She had to admit, the thing was sickingly cute and for that, it probably deserved a little treat.

Currently, this new secretary job wasn't so bad. There wasn't much to do but she found Alfons’s company...enjoyable. He made a wonderful boss.

Nill placed the kitten on the kitchen counter and gave Tony a toy to play with. It should keep the darling thing amused for quite some time. But now that that was taken care of. What now? There were no phones to answer...no people to kill. It was just a little bit boring but made she sure not to let the expression show.

Unfortunately, there really wasn't much to do at the present time. The City made running a business more difficult. He didn't have any men here, and nobody seemed capable of following orders. A threat with a gun didn't work like it ought to...not when the one being threatened is capable of blowing up things with his mind.

Mildly irritated that he wasn't getting anywhere, and wondering if perhaps it would help to redecorate and make the room feel more like an actual office, Alfons stood and headed off down the hall, carrying his empty coffee mug with him. Spotting Nill playing with the kitten on the counter, he set the mug down beside Tony and picked him up to pull him away from her.

"I might actually request you to do some leg work before the night is up." A little smirk couldn't help but peek through his smile as he held Tony in front of him to have a little staring match. "The network isn't where everything is at. If hearts are being stolen, then it's being done in person."

Nill smiled at the thought. Leg work~? That would certainly be an interesting request. The girl took the empty coffee mug for a refill. Her hips swayed smoothly as she walked over to the cabinets. Hmmm? Was the skirt to short? It never hurt to wonder about these things. After all, if the skirt was too short...she might have to get punished. And the girl didn't want that to happen now, did she?

Of course, he was sure to lower the kitten to watch as she walked over to the coffee maker. A girl wouldn't dress like that if she didn't want to be appreciated, right? He was certainly appreciating.

"It's important, however..." Alfons leaned over to set Tony on the floor, allowing him to scamper off after an imaginary foe. "To not let your heart be captured in the process."

He stepped around the counter so that he could move behind her, one hand reaching to rest against her arm, the other moving around to rest just against her collarbone. "Because where would Miss Nill be without her tender heart?"

Nill turned around, responding to Alfons's touch. A smile played across her face. A tender heart? How sweet~ But the same could be said of you boss.

Her hand lifted to caress his cheek, her eyes playful. Why don't you tell me~?

Nill's eyes were incredibly expressive, but it really was too bad that she couldn't speak aloud. "You look like a woman who knows what she wants, Nill."

His hand moved from her chest to trail up along her arm to where her own hand rested against his cheek. Gently clutching it, he pulled it away to hold it in the air while his free arm curled around her waist, effectively dipping her back a bit. "Am I wrong?"

Her expression remained unchanged, daring him to go further. How far would he go? How far could he go? Nill didn't know, most of all she didn't care. This was amusingly fun, and she had no intention of letting this situation go to waste.

After all~ She had picked such a nice outfit too~

It was easy to tell when he was being played. Perhaps it ought to have angered him, but it only intrigued him. It was always the ones who seemed the sweetest that you needed to watch out for... "There is quite a bit of arsenic laced in your sugar, isn't there?" he practically purred as he glanced her over, releasing her hand and moving to tuck back a stray strand of her hair.

Then there was a soft flick, and the cool flat of a switchblade rested against the nape of her neck. Alfons' eyes twinkled with his smile as he gazed down at her. "I am going to have to request an answer, though, Miss Nill. Words may escape you, but I'm sure you can find other uses for that pretty little mouth of yours. Do you know what you want?"

A switchblade~? Oh~ this was just too fun. Unfortunately, her hand-gun had just happened to disappear that very day. It was all very sad really, it had been a nice gun. But, if she had had it in her possession it would have already been aimed and pointed as his jugular. That would have ended the fun all too soon though~ and this type of thing just had to be carried through.

She smiled slyly, her eyes leading him on, and pressing her hips closer to the blade's bearer. She knew what she wanted.

Her response drew a short laugh out of him, and the switchblade was gone as quickly as it appeared. "But, Miss Nill, just knowing what you want isn't enough."

He slid his hand back up to grip hers again, turning around and letting go of her waist so he could slowly spin her out, watching her twirl with keen amusement. "You have to know when it's important to be patient... And when you simply need to take it."

As Alfons spun her back towards him, he was careful of her wings as he held her waist once more so that her back was to him this time, and he swayed a bit while murmuring in her ear. "These basics are the building blocks of any good business, and one needs the skill to execute them properly. But I'm sure you're quite experienced in execution, aren't you?"

Playing with me are you? She continued to smile, the same sweet smile. Nill could play this game as well, but it was a little bit frustrating being unable to see Alfons. That meant that he had an advantage over her...But Nill didn't quite mind.

The next statement caught her off guard though. Oh dear~ he knew exactly just how to play with her didn't he?

She was a comfortable height, he decided. He could rest his chin atop her head if he wished. Now, that might make things like kissing a bit more difficult, but he couldn't have such things on his mind, could he? Kisses were for children when they got tucked in at night, or for wives to keep them from nagging.

Nill's constant silence might have unnerved some, but he didn't seem to mind talking. And he heard learned that her body language spoke volumes. She had tensed just a bit. It was thrilling.

"You weren't made to be a lowly secretary. I know how quickly you learn, and your knowledge far surpasses that of filing papers and feeding kittens." His grip around her waist remained loose, making it easy for her to detach herself if she so wished. Fingers twined with hers as he kept her hand held off to the side, still swaying to a silent song that could only be heard in his head.

"You were made for bigger things, and if you know what you want, then I'll offer you a business proposal." His fingers detached from hers, sliding down to grip her wrist as he drew her hand back around into her line of vision, revealing a sapphire and diamond encrusted ring.

"As I said, behind every successful man..."

Nill's eyes widened. Now that...was completely unexpected. She stared at the ring, intrigued. It was beautiful...she had to admit...and Alfons had been extremely sly about it...

She smiled playfully, maybe~~

"The ring is yours, regardless of your decision." He obviously had no use for it, and the person he had...relieved it of certainly wouldn't be needing it back any time soon.

In a show of mock tenderness, he leaned down and tilted his head to kiss her on the cheek. Then he released her and turned to walk off back towards his makeshift office. "You think on it. And I think I would prefer tea instead of coffee when you have the time."

The offer had been purely for professional benefit, of course. Love hardly helped a successful marriage. It really would be a shame if she rejected it, since it would be hard to find someone else with as much charm and skill as her, but he would manage.

Back in front of his computer, he glanced at the screen, wondering just what keys Tony had walked on to make the screen turn blue.

Nill pouted and slipped the ring off and left on the counter. She hadn't really a need for those types of things. It was pretty, yes, but only that. It could possibly hurt someone if thrown in somebody's eyes but that type of aim was beyond her. Only at the point of gun could she hit on the mark.

Was he giving up so easily? She had underestimated him immensely then. That's no fun~ and she had assumed that Alfons wouldn't be the one to disappoint.

She slunk over towards the computer and placed a hand on his shoulder, slowly sliding the hand across as she made to sit in his lap.

Alfons immediately sat back to make room for her between him and his desk as apparently she felt it necessary to grace his lap. Not that he was complaining, but he did have work to do, and he didn't see a cup of tea in her hand.

In fact, he didn't see anything on her hand. With a soft click of his tongue, he took that delicate hand and let it rest against his chest. "I'm not good enough? My heart. It breaks."

Nill leaned forward and kissed the area over his heart lightly. Would that stop it from breaking? After all...a heart is such a precious thing. To most people.

She continued to pout. Don't ruin the game Alfons~ the fun hasn't even started yet~

Her actions drew yet another soft smirk out of him, and he caught her chin to grip lightly, allowing him to tip her head back so he could get a good look at that pout. Perhaps a kiss didn't have to be just for wives and children, at least when done right...

"That boldness of yours might normally be an asset to you, Nill, but be careful. It could get you killed one day." Gently, he ran his thumb across her lower lip before leaning down for a breath of a kiss, too light and teasing to really be called complete.

Teasing again~? She pressed her lips against his, calling to him with her body. Don't leave me hanging~ don’t bore me so quickly~ Nill continued with the false pout, and a splash of disappointment in her eyes.

He readily accepted the increased intensity of the kiss, but it didn't matter what looks she tried to give him. This was his game. Not hers. He would go at his pace, or she would get nothing.

Tipping his head to the side, his mouth trailed from her lips down to her throat while he let one hand explore the length of her thigh to finally settle beneath her skirt. Fingertips teased just below the panties, and he had to wonder just what color her undergarments were. "With some things...patience is the key. Remember? But perhaps you can persuade me to go a little faster."

Nill shuddered from his touch. Persuade? Persuade~? How ever would she be able to do that? Maybe if she--

What was going on...? Where was she? The clock glared 12:00. Midnight. What was she doing? The girl stared a bit dumbfounded, before noticing that she was sitting on somebody's lap...with hands up her...skirt...And the owner of those hands was...Alfons?!

At first he merely wondered why Nill had gone so rigid. Then he wondered why his hand was up her skirt. And after a good long few seconds, he yanked his hand away as if he'd been burned, eyes wide as he practically flattened himself back into his chair.

"N-Nill... I-I..." What was he supposed to say?! "Oh God." No, that wasn't it.

The girl practically jumped out the chair, her face flushed, a hand trying to fix her skirt. Why was this thing so short? But more importantly...what had the two been doing? Playing...ah...what was she thinking?

Nill bowed a quick sorry, hoping that would somehow excuse the whole questionable situation and allow her to escape from it. Oh no...Oh no...

Unable to take the awkward situation anymore...she ran out the door.

Too shocked to properly respond, he didn't even realize what was going on until she was out the office door. "Nill!" he practically croaked, so out of breath just from the shock alone.

Oh God, at least Edward hadn't come over during this exchange. It was bad enough he had hurt Nill, but if Edward had to deal with it... Oh, the memories of what he'd been thinking almost made him physically ill, and he clamped a hand over his mouth as he jumped up and tried to run after her.

He couldn't just let her run off like that. Sure they were in the same building, but there was still a crazy kidnapper on the loose.

She was gone by the time he reached his front door, and he braced a hand against it as he stepped outside and yelled her name once more. "Nill!"

...Nothing. Where had she learned to run so fast?

Stepping back, his legs finally gave out beneath him, and he dropped down to his knees, looking to the side as his newly acquired kitten walked over and meowed pitifully at him.

What had he done?
