Log;

Peter Petrelli had felt invisible his entire life. Just another man with a mediocre job, who'd amount to nothing. One would think that when he discovered he had super powers, he'd be a bit more happy with his life, but of course, with every up comes a down, and finding out from a painting prophet that he might possibly destroy an entire city, killing millions, didn't make him too happy.
This city, however, wasn't quite like New York. In fact, he wasn't quite sure what this city was, or what to think of it. Peter wasn't sure of anything anymore; if he was dead or not, or if he was possibly put here to keep him from exploding in the middle of NYC. This place was, after all, some strange convention of freaks like him, but Claire was here, which made him feel a bit more content.
So it was time for him and Claire to get acquainted with this City, after all, from what he'd heard, they'd be there for quite some time.
Peter waited by the door while Claire got ready to go. Their new apartment was nice, for a free place to stay. After pushing his hair out of his eyes, Peter stood and stretched a bit. "Hey Claire?" he called through the apartment, "I'm ready to go-"

Claire finished fluffing her long spiral curls in front of a mirror, hearing Peter's voice ringing through the apartment. She checked to see if her lip gloss and eyeshadow hadn't faded away, and then left the bathroom behind. She made her way to the front door, where Peter was waiting for her.

"Hey," she said apologetically, pushing a ringlet behind her ear. "Sorry that took so long." She looked up and gave him a bright smile.

"So," she asked, "know where you wanna go first?"

Claire bit her lip in thought, trying to think of what landmarks stood out to her. She remembered...an ocean? Wouldn't be too many people around yet; it was only April. There was a forest too, but it was still too cold. There were lots of shops to look at, and then she remembered.

"There was a square with a bunch of fountains," she offered. "A lot of people hang out there when they aren't on the network."

Claire responded with a smile, nodding at Peter's comment. He was right: if it was going to be the two of them, and an exit too far away for them to see, it couldn't be just them.

Claire remembered the princess Ananova, and Yuuji, and Mr. Gray. But they didn't know Peter, at least not yet, and she was fond of the idea of meeting more people.

She smiled at him. She felt like that was all she was doing lately, but for once, it felt nice to actually have feeling behind the emotion. "Thanks very much, sir," she said, and stepped out into the apartment building.

They had a lot of stairs to climb down, but she didn't really mind. Being high up was a nice feeling, and Peter didn't seem to mind. So she wouldn't either.

Claire half-wondered if the apartment building had any elevators she didn't see on her way in. But, since there wasn't necessarily a cheer team here, these could keep her in shape.

She smiled brightly when Peter opened the door again for her. You don't have to keep doing that, she thought, but she found it...comforting, in some way. Familiar. Nice. She didn't know what, but she liked it, even though she knew she could open doors herself.

She walked out the doors and into the night, soaking in the City at night: fountains aglow, apartment windows lit, a slight tick-tock at the back of her head.

Claire remembered someone describing the town to her. A big clock that just looked like a town. The ticking was at the center of the square, so if she went closer to the ticking she'd find it.

"We just walk straight," she said, half-sure. "Once we find the carousel, we're in the center of the square. The fountains could be nearby."

Claire pushed her hair back to get a better look at the spinning circle of light in the center: the carousel. Prettier than anything she remembered from the county fairs when she was little, hot Texas heat and cotton candy in her throat. It was lovely, but it was still a little scary: this was counting down to the end of the world.

She tried not to think about that. If she was with Peter, she was fine. And so she'd be happy.

"It's really cool, isn't it?" she asked.

Elle Driver was just passing through the center of the City. She found the lemons she was looking for. Lemons for hard lemonade. The irony couldn't escape her. Times where hard and she was making hard lemonade. Of course, on the day she wanted lemons she had to go out and get them herself.

She slowed, her only blue eye saw a the pair looking at the carousel. "It's nothing special," she mumbled to herself. "I've seen better."

Under the advice of his own conscious Stanley had made his way to the square large sketch pad, drawing utensils and water colors in arm. He set the sketchpad on the easel and looked around for something to draw. Setting his site on a group of buildings he started to draw them. He was having trouble with only one eye, but he supposed that until he could get a new eye or something he'd have to get used to being half blind.

Quickly becoming bored of drawing just buildings Stan started to draw some more things. Soon the drawing depicted a giant cockroach blasting the City to pieces. Stan chuckled to himself. He turned the paper over and started looking for some new inspiration. He spotted a couple of people he hadn't yet seen around.

"Draw your portrait?" He asked.

"Yeah," Claire said, fondly, remembering home. I wonder if everyone's wrong. If there's a way out. A way home, she thought, for him. And for me.

She tried to follow Peter's eyes, and caught sight of the fountains, all aglow in the night. People were passing around, past the fountains, which still lit up in columns of bright water.

She smiled hopefully. "I guess it isn't so bad here," she said, turning back to Peter. "Right?"

Claire studied the man and his easel, considering. She hadn't been drawn before, not really. She had paid for a caricature at a carnival once when she was very small, but she didn't like how big her head and nose had been, and she hadn't kept it. But this would be a portrait she'd want to keep.

"It sounds fun, Peter," she said with a smile, turning to the man. "Is there a pose you want us to take?"

Stan carefully observed the two as they talked. He liked to observe people before drawing them. This way he could get a better feel for their emotions. What good was a portrait if it didn't capture that person's essence? While the two continued to talk Stan set out some conte. He liked the way the medium worked. So smooth and rich like pastel and charcoal without the ill mess that they brought.

"Whichever pose is most natural for you ma'am." Stanley told her.
