When : May 15th, Morning
Rating : PG
Characters : Riou [
bright_shield] & Kururugi Suzaku [
suzaku_11]
Summary : For various reasons, Riou is less than pleased to wake-up underneath Suzaku this morning...
Log : )
Once again Riou slowly rose to consciousness with the niggling feeling that something just wasn't quite right. He'd lost track of how many times he'd had that feeling since his forced arrival in the city; and so it was with an Oh god, now what's wrong?! that he opened his eyes that morning.
He was not alone in his bed. That, in itself, wasn't too surprising. He'd grown used to having to share close quarters with his companions during the war, and even before then he'd sometimes had to share a bed with Nanami or Jowy for one reason or another. So, being with someone else in bed... Somewhat surprising, but not too strange. However, being underneath someone in bed...
Right. He wondered if he ought to be alarmed at the fact that he wasn't more alarmed. The city was just too weird and... Riou tilted his head and looked down-- up?-- at the person currently using him as a full body pillow. A guy. (Of course!) With a tangle of mussy brown hair, his face currently buried in Riou's chest and thus obscured. Well, at least it wasn't Jowy this time. Riou shifted in bed and gave the other boy a tentative poke on the shoulder.
Riou thought back to the night before. He'd grown careless and had passed out in the middle of his journal post and-- damn, it looked like Jowy and Sierra were suspicious. He'd tried to be so careful over the past five or so weeks and Sierra had just arrived, so how could she suspect...? Riou sighed. After that, he had gone to bed. No wandering around the city, no partaking of questionable drinks or food, no bloody reason he should be lying under someone this morning...
And then images began to flash through his head. Images from a certain curse day not too long ago when he had been taught the meaning behind the word 'yaoi' and all those insinuations... okay, maybe he was getting slightly more alarmed now.
"Umm..." Riou said as he nudged at the body above him. "Umm..." Poke. Poke. Poke. "Excuse me...?"

Suzaku Kururugi was slowly getting used to life in the city, or more accurately, in the forest. Oh, there were apartments to be had in the city, for free too, he'd been told, but a part of him would not let him simply take residence in one. Too convenient. Besides, he was doing well enough out in the open, what's the use of taking an apartment for his own? What if other people needed it more? And Suzaku certainly would put the welfare of others above his own. It's not like he'd had any problems with the forests' inhabitants thus far.
He remembered finding a fairly remote and safe area, settling down for the night and, well, sleeping. The days in the city passed by in a blur and sometimes, strange things happened and Suzaku had to wonder whether he'd eaten something the previous day or what. He supposed he should try harder to head back but there was nothing he could find that pointed to a way home. Anyway, he would tell himself when feelings of inadequacy crept into his mind, he didn't have the Lancelot and he would need that to get back...
"Just... just a bit more... it's a day off, isn't it?" Who could be poking him? Didn't he live alone? Was it a day off? School, what about school?
"Uugh--- AH!" He shot up and became alert. "Oh wait, I'm gonna be late for school... school... homework.. ho-- Eh... who... who are you?"
Suzaku stared at the brunet underneath him curiously. "Wh- wha - why am I here?"

His eye had begun to twitch a bit when all his pokes and nudging had done were illicit further ramblings about school and homework from the sleeping boy who was still lying on top of him and wait-- he recognized him now, didn't he?
"Oh, Suzaku, is it? I take it you don't know how you got in here?" And on me... "Umm... do you mind getting off now?" The other boy was a bit heavy and damn those images were still going through his head! It seemed the curses of the city were bound and determined to break his mind and-- wait, the curses!

"Uh, Suzaku, you don't remember anything about getting here, do you? Because I most definitely recall going to bed alone..." Riou ran his fingers through his hair in a bit of exasperation. And he'd just decided the previous day that he'd have to cut off all in-person interaction until he had his rune draining problem under better control.
"Maybe this is a curse?" he said as he carefully leveraged himself out of bed.

And, it could have been worst. He could have ended up in bed with Darth Bane. Or Fuuma. Or Luca Blight. That last thought was enough to turn his hair gray. Even waking up with Jowy would have been worse, considering what Riou was now trying to hide. (And also considering that probably meant waking up with Kamui at the same time and god knows what condition those two would be in during the morning...)

"Huh... this is weird," he muttered.

Riou paused in his search for his missing tablet to see Suzaku standing in the door way. "Umm... is something wrong?"

He made a beeline for the nearest window and was about to jump out when the same thing happened. This time, he couldn't even lift his leg to the window frame!

"Umm... ah, I think going the normal way through the door would be a whole lot better! If there's something wrong then-- WAAH--!" With a slight frown Riou went to poke his head outside his doorway into the hall beyond. Or he would have if he hadn't slammed into an invisible barrier at the threshold that sent him reeling backwards. He caught himself on a nearby endtable.
"What the heck?!"
Well, at least he'd found his herethereto missing tablet lying underneath the table...

"Umm, no, it's all right..." Riou gave a quick bow back before snatching up his poor cracked tablet and connecting to find the network filled with many bewildered and misplaced people. "Yes, it seems it's a curse and... neither of us will be able to leave here until it's over.... I guess it could be worst considering some of the other reactions..." Riou flinched slightly.
Would Suzaku think it weird if he took a twenty four hour nap? Probably. Who wouldn't think that weird? Perhaps he should-- and then he felt it. A wave of weakness emanating from his right hand, a soft chill as all warmth ebbed away. Never when he was in danger, but he really wasn't in danger with Suzaku and...
Dammit Bright Shield, not now, you're going to-- Darkness seeped through his vision. At least this time he was able to carefully place the computer back on table before falling over.

That relief, however, lasted for only a moment, and then the thought that maybe it was because his host's ailment was so severe that it didn't display normal symptoms came to mind.
"Don't worry, Riou, I'll find help for you...."
