She couldn't believe she was actually going on a date. She had never gone on a date. Much less with a man that one day suddenly appeared in her bathtub. The City's way of bringing people together, maybe?
She ran to the window when she heard his voice from outside the building. "I'm here! Apartment #166!" she said with a smile. "Do you want me to come down?"
no subject
"This is probably quicker. I'll just jump down from here with you. Hop on!" he said, holding out his arms, "We're headin' down, threshold-style!"
no subject
She knew Greed was an interesting person, but she didn't quite realize how interesting.
"You...you want to jump? Are you sure? It...it seems like a long distance."
no subject
He got partway in the window and steadied himself, waiting for her.
"It'll be fine."
no subject
Maybe he was right. "Okay. If you say so."
With only a little hesitation, she climbed into his waiting arms and prepared herself for the jump.

He fell out the window and righted himself in the air, transforming his left arm into a claw while holding her with the right. His left caught the side of the building, letting the claw drag and slow his descent. They soon reached the bottom safely.
"That was fun. You ready for some steak?"
no subject
"That actually was fun!" she said, trying not to sound too surprised. She balled her hands into fists and grinned, a small glint in her eye. "I'm always ready for steak. Let's go!"
no subject
"Right this way," he said, clutching her hand and entering. The young hostess quickly recognized Greed by his reservation description and ushered them to a table. They were each given menus and left to themselves.
"Pretty nice, eh?" he grinned.

Before she knew it, they were at the resturant and settling into their seats. She smiled at Greed. "It looks exactly like what I would've chosen."
She opened the menu and glanced through it. Yup. She was going to like this place.

"Hmmm..." Greed said, perusing his options, "I want the 72 ounce He-Man special flank steak, with an order of ribs, two baked potatoes, baked beans, and beef tips with beefy sauce."
He was practically salivating already as he turned to her.
"Whatever ya' want, babe. Whatever you want."
no subject
"I'll have the ribeye steak with a side of fries and chilli," she told the waitress with a grin, handing back her menu.
"I'm saving room for dessert," she explained to Greed. "Even having a second stomach for sweets and steak, it's best to ration myself."

He leaned over the table and looked into her bright, clear eyes, "Are you non-human, too?"
no subject
"No, I'm human," she admitted, a bit sheepishly. "It's just an expression, really."

As he spoke, he was already arranging the silverware and putting a napkin across his lap.

Greed leaned forward a bit and made a small adjustment to the fork at his left.
"So, babe, what line of work are ya' in? And how'd a pretty girl like you end up in this place?"
no subject
Maya's eyes lit up a little when Greed asked her about her work. "I'm a spirit medium! Or, well, I'm training to be one, anyway. It's something that's been passed down in my family for generations. My mother was a spirit medium, and my sister knew how to do it, too, although she was a lawyer." A quick frown flickered on her face for a second when she mentioned her sister, but she quickly regained her composure. "I work for the lawyer that used to be her assistant some, too. His name is Phoenix Wright. We've won a lot of cases together! ...Actually, that's sort of how I got here. I was taking the train to his city to help him with a case, and...ended up here."
She crossed her arms and leaned back, thinking for a moment. "Hopefully Nick's not too worried. My cell phone won't work here, so I can't call him to let him know where I am."
no subject
Greed cocked an eyebrow and looked at her outfit. Did they actually allow that in courtrooms?
"What's with the, uh, get-up? Most lawyers probably don't wear something that's quite so attention-grabbin'."

He sat back in his chair and tapped the table in anticipation as their server pulled a cart up alongside them and began setting their meals down.
no subject
Oh! The food! She grinned when her steak was set in front of her and brightly said 'thanks!' to the waitress.
"That was quick! There's good service here!"
no subject
"I never choose bad places for dates. It's against my better nature."
no subject
WOW. This was possibly the best steak she had ever had! "Mm! No kidding!"
no subject
He devoured a large chunk of beef, followed by a few sips of his drink.
"I've got an appreciation for the finer things in life, babe. It's ingrained into my being ever since my creation. So, you got any questions about me? You're pretty brave to just go out with a strange homunculus."
no subject
...What exactly is a homunculus, though? I never heard that term before I came here."
no subject
He rapped the surface once for emphasis.
"It's made of numerous components, most of which is wood. An alchemist could take a pile of wood, apply knowledge of how a table is made, and instantly create this table. Tryin' to create a person that way only works with somethin' called a philosopher's stone. It's what powers us. We can't live otherwise, because we don't have a soul to maintain our body."

He gulped down the last of his drink and went to refill it.
"It's nothin' major. I don't really think about it. I've got a lot of life left until that happens. Not that I intend to EVER let it happen."

He began to eat again, finishing off the last bits of his meal.
"What about you, babe? You sound like that's a sore subject. Does it make you sad to think about things like that?"
no subject
That's how she'd met him in the first place. He had been her defense lawyer when she was accused of murdering her sister...
Ah, but that wasn't really the sort of thing you talked about on a date, anyway. "I suppose if it doesn't bother you, though, then there's no use dwelling on it."
no subject
He placed his plate aside and placed his napkin on top.
"Anyway, what kinda' things do ya' like, babe? What are your interests? What turns your crank?"
