Log;

Kon looked at the clock, the back at the lone test taker in his classroom. "Times up, Toki."

He stood and approached the boy, one hand outstretched to take the test and answer packets from him. He'd felt a little sorry for Toki since he'd had to skip prom to take his exam, but rules were rules, and everyone had to follow them. "What did you think?"

Putting the pencil down with a sharp clack, he rustled the test materials together and handed them to the outstretched hand. Toki let out a sigh and leaned back in his chair thanking every element in the periodic table that he had survived the horrors of the Japanese History Final.

"I don't know? I don't feel very confident about how I did...it was hard, but at least I knew some of the answers."

Retreating to his desk and with his back to his student, Kon flipped to the first page and observed that all of the answers on it were correct. Smiling to himself, he replaced the cover and set the test on top of the pile of those still not graded.

"At least it's over now," he said finally, turning to face Toki again. "I'm sorry you had to miss prom, but this is important in your graduation. I'm sure you've pass."

Toki nodded vaguely, pulling his empty backpack onto the desk and stuffing his pencil into the bag's front pocket. It was over now...just as his professor had mentioned. No more! NO MORE JAPANESE HISTORY!

It was hard to keep it in, and he restrained himself as best he could so as not to jump on top of the desk and act like a madman. A rogue, grin snuck out of the celebration going on inside his mind. "It's over...yeah..."

The thought of having missed prom toned down the party signals going off in his head. Toki's smile grew softer, "No need to be sorry, it was my fault I couldn't find my textbook. Plus, if I went I would have had to choose a girl to go with beforehand. There were a lot of people who asked, I hope they still had fun at the prom though."

The professor noticed his students' crazed grin and knew exactly what was going through the young mind, and Kon chuckled to himself. At least one person was elated over the end of his Japanese history class.

At the mention of Toki's mob of fangirls, however, Kon raised an eyebrow and glanced sidelong at the door. Dark shadows flitted across the small inset window. "Are you so sure about that?" He stepped closer to the door for a better look. "Funny, I didn't know they were having prom across the hall..."

Toki followed his gaze towards the door, "What do you mean?" The prom should have been taking place elsewhere. He was quite sure he hadn't heard any music coming from the hallway, after all the classroom walls weren't very sound proof. Maybe he should get his ears checked...he was already half blind, and he wouldn't be surprised if he was going deaf as well.

The boy got up and slowly made his way to the door, wondering what his teacher was seeing.

Toki started to move, and Kon's hand shot out to keep the boy in place. "Stay where you are. No, better yet--hide." He smirked cryptically. "This might get ugly, fast."

When he was sure Toki was safely out of sight, Kon approached the door and opened it just slightly, filling the gap with his body to keep those outside in the hallway. A throng of high school girls crowded around his classroom door. A few were even dressed up for prom.

"Can I help you ladies?" Kon inquired. They collectively asked for Toki, but the teacher shook his head. "I'm afraid you just missed him. He left not fifteen minutes ago. He must have headed to his dormitory to catch up on sleep."

They chorused their gratitude and flocked off in that direction. Kon watched them disappear around a corner before shutting the door and turning to the bewildered student still in the room. "They're gone now, you're safe."

"T-Thanks Professor Shinonome...I didn't think they'd come here...don't know why they did...but thank you very much for that," Toki stood up slowly from his hiding spot, "They can be kind of scary some times..." he let out an embarrased laugh before making his way back to the desk to get his backpack. It was getting late after all, and he probably should go back to the dorms anyway. He had barely gotten any sleep the previous night, how could he when he had the final he feared the most looming ahead of him? Toki had studied books, notes, websites, anything he could get his hands on to make sure he could pass.

It was getting late now, the sun setting, night was coming, a yawn escaped from his mouth. Augh, there goes trying to hide the face that he hadn't slept a wink. At least he didn't have any bags under his eyes, Toki enjoyed not looking like a human panda. He slipped one arm through the backpack strap and turned towards his Professor with a smile, "I guess it's time for me to go, sorry for--"

His cheeks tinged slightly and he quickly averted his gaze to the door, his hand coming up to rest behind his head as he laughed awkwardly, "Ahah...hah... n-never...nevermind..."

The remaining sunlight had illuminated the teacher in a way he had never noticed before. Professor Shinonome was actually...quite handsome...The way the light had caught on his teacher's hair and enlightened the face...

Toki was surprised at the direction the thought was proceeding. He shuffled to the door, making surre he did not look at the Professor.

"I...I better get going..."

Kon quirked another eyebrow at the boy, bemused by his constant self-interruptions, but said nothing of it. He assumed Toki was just embarrassed for taking up the teacher's time on a Saturday, but honestly, Kon had intended to grade papers regardless of late test takers or not. So, with a gentler smile, he held the door open for Toki to let him out.

"Get some sleep," he said. "You've had a tough couple of days. Enjoy your summer."

He nodded, without looking up, eyes glued to the floor. Mumbling a thank you he shouldered his backpack and quickly made his way down the hallway, and when he was sure he was out of sight from the Japanese History room, Toki ran.

I need a break...he thought...Japanese History had tampered with his mind too much.
