Summary; After talking to Integra, Morbius decides to visit her and find out more about Hellsing
Log;

It felt like flying through molasses. Morbius never experienced that feeling before as he glided to the ground in front of the third building. It was strange – as he took a deep breath and stepped inside – just like it was strange that no one really seem to mind neither his appearance nor his mode of travel. But after having caught a glimpse of Venom crawling over a couple buildings, he deciding that hiding what he was would not matter so much. Especially since he couldn’t hide what he was without breaking into the building itself.

Damn place. Teasing him with glimpses of copies of the man he really needed to make a new serum to control the hunger. Even if he can get fresh blood without the guilt of killing someone personally, the thought was there that someone had died. He shook his head, banishing the thought. This was not the time to think about that.

Bloodscent, the vampiric part stirred. Morbius lifted his head and frowned. Yes, there was blood on the air. Old, stale, it was a thin scent trail that mortals did not notice as they scurried by. He let the trail guide him up, leading him to a door. He checked the number, and pressed the bell, his overly long nail gouging the button.

Folding his arms across his chest – which brought the reddish ‘wings’ of his costume tight around his leather suit – Morbius waited.

Doris had to admit that after being there for a month that the City wasn't as terribly bad as it seemed at first. She'd survived two curses unaffected and unscathed (as well as slightly amused) and all seemed well. She was currently with Sir Hellsing in her flat and about to begin the discussion of her use against the Millennium werewolf when the doorbell sounded.

"I'll get it," she said, being the closest person to the door.

She caught her shocked (and slightly repulsed) reaction before it reached her face as she saw the tall figure waiting outside the door.

"Can I help you," she asked politely, even as she rested her hand on the handle of the whip holstered to her side out of automatic frontier caution.

[identity profile] favored-son.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Though he was certain that Doris could look after herself, particularly within the confines of his parents' flat, D appeared in the entryway behind her, armed as usual with his longsword at his back, but foregoing his habitual hat, gloves, cloak, and even armor. Subtle touches of blue and white did little to relieve the severity of the dark clothing he wore. His expression was just as unyielding in its neutrality as he regarded the visitor.

[identity profile] steeldame.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
A tall, blonde woman emerged from a room just behind them. Integral was as usual dressed in a tailored, black suit wearing a red cravat around her neck. A silver crosspin was on the necktie. She exhaled smoke from her mouth and drew the cigar away with her gloved hand.

"He's my guest, Miss Lang, D," she pointed out, "Do come in, Doctor Michaels. I am Integral Hellsing." She glanced over her shoulder, waiting for Alucard's timely arrival.

[identity profile] hercount.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Shadows stretched across the length of the hall, seeping in from floor and walls. They gathered, pooled at Integral's feet, then shot up behind her, to the form of an insidiously tall male, with longish black hair and pale flesh.

Upper lip curling back in a smirk, he bared sharklike fangs. "Your guest. . Master? One of a demonic taint. ." And breathed the air just over Integral's shoulder.

[identity profile] hunterborn.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
She tensed slightly seeing the man's fangs. Although her time in the City thus far had taught her that not all vampires were bad, years of bred-in fear of nobility made it extremely hard to maintain the air of cautious politeness she held. She moved back from the door to make way for Dr. Michaels, bumping clumsily into D. She blushed furiously and mumbled an apology. She hadn't even noticed him move behind her.

[identity profile] favored-son.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
D steadied her with a hand on her elbow, just a light contact of too-cold skin, withdrawn as soon as she had found her balance again. He acknowledged her apology with a small nod and stepped aside so the doctor could enter. He said nothing in response to his parents' words, simply watched as Alucard hovered close to Integra.

[identity profile] steeldame.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
"You will be polite to him, Alucard," Integral warned with a strict severity, shooting a glare at the old vampire for his poor manners. She made no comment about the demonic taint, it was clear no one would be pure for so long in the area they worked it.

""That is a good philosophy, Doctor, my grandfather would have agreed." The knight introduced the gathered with her, knowing they were likely remain socially awkward toward the guest. "The vampire at my side is Alucard, formerly known as Dracula. The half-vampire is our future son, D. And the lady is his friend, Doris Lang," she informed Morbius, motioning to follow her to the left. "There is tea waiting in the sitting room."

[identity profile] hercount.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I am ever on my best behavior, Ma~as~ter," The vampire replied with a respectful bow to her. He was less suspicious for what the other creature had to say; sometimes it took controlled evil to fight chaotic evil.

Moving with his master, he stayed behind her, and slightly to the side.

[identity profile] hunterborn.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Doris wasn't sure if she was supposed to follow the group or leave. The last thing she wanted to do was offend Sir Hellsing, especially after the knight was kind enough to take her in. She fidgeted with the handle of her whip before turning slightly to D.

"Are we supposed to follow them?" she whispered, annoyed by her hesitance. She suddenly missed Ransylva. At least there she neither worried nor cared about offending anyone--after all, first being abandoned and then offered up as a village sacrifice tended to lead to the loss of respect for the population en masse...

[identity profile] favored-son.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"If you care to," D responded, his own voice soft, but more out of habit than a desire to keep their conversation private. "My mother will make it clear if any of us are to leave." He was curious about the nature of this latest acquaintance of his mother's.

[identity profile] steeldame.livejournal.com 2007-05-24 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
"There are more, but they are out," Integral answered while she entered to the sitting room. There was sofa and two couches located around a circular coffee table made of glass. Over the table was a steamy pot with Earl Grey, tea cups, and a bottle filled with a red liquid - blood. Either for Alucard or her guest, as he preferred. "Please, sit down."

She sat on the sofa, expecting Alucard to follow suit and rest beside her as a protective watchdog.

[identity profile] hercount.livejournal.com 2007-05-24 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
He did as she expected, following Integral and sitting beside her, taking up any extra space in a posessive, catlike manner. He reclined easily into the cushions and sat in such a lanquid fashion that one might think him off gaurd or disabled to react quickly.

Leg crossed over knee at the ankle, one arm behind Integral at the back of the couch, the other splayed out over the arm rest, he continued to smile amiably.

[identity profile] hunterborn.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Doris hesitated for a second before moving to follow Sir Hellsing, Alucard and the new doctor. She hovered just inside the doorway, studying the newcomer.

[identity profile] favored-son.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
More understated than his father, D nevertheless took a position that seemed quite relaxed at a glance. As was his habit, he leaned against the wall, arms crossed over his chest and chin tilted down, his legs crossed loosely at the ankle so that most of his weight was on one foot. The dhampir could have been mistaken for a sleeper if he'd had his hat to shade his face. He gave little attention to the items set out on the table. He'd already eaten.

[identity profile] steeldame.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
If Alucard's liberties bothered Integral, she didn't show it, instead she poured herself a cup of tea and asked Morbius. "What do you prefer to drink, Doctor Michaels?" She wasn't one for assuming, but the gaze directed at the bottle spoke louder than words. "The Hellsing Organisation hunts the undead, sometimes we take some of them within our ranks," she confirmed in a businesslike voice. "Our goal is protect the United Kingdom, we carry no resentment against the species in the least."

She sipped her tea briefly, setting the cup down. "Miss Land, D," she started with a reproachful look. "If you two want to be part of the conversation, sit with us, do not loom there and treat us as subjects of observation. It's very rude."

[identity profile] hercount.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
With Integral's back turned, the corners of his mouth curved into a smirking expression at the scolding his son recieved. Not out of malice, but amusement. Then reached out to touch his son's mind, Yes, D, mind your mother and keep your girl close.

[identity profile] hunterborn.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Doris felt the heat in her face and hoped she didn't look as though she was about to piss herself from Sir Helling's glare. What was with her lately? She was nearly able to stare down Count Lee without fear and yet the thought of merely annoying her hosts turned her to mush. She quickly inclined her head and muttered an apology before moving across the room to sit in the vacant couch.

[identity profile] favored-son.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
D gave his father a flat, unamused stare. "My girl?" he responded silently. Still, he did as his mother had asked, and took a seat, not with Doris, but near her. His sword was set against the arm of the couch--within easy reach, but not so close at hand as to communicate a threat to their visitor. "My apologies."

[identity profile] steeldame.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Pleased with Doris' and D's sudden display of good manners, Integral continued to delight herself on the tea. She gave a nod in response for Morbius' decline of the blood, wondering if was good he indeed didn't accept a drink.

Like Seras Victoria used to be.

"There isn't need for a world-scope procedures in our case," Integral commented. "Each religion has their own group against the monsters. For instance, the Vatican employs the thirteenth Orden, Iscariot, to do their dirty job, including vampire hunting. They are more narrow-minded and fanatic than we are and would likely try to destroy you at sight, Doctor. I would avoid the Paladin Anderson if I were you. He has an ongoing rivalry with Alucard."

[identity profile] hercount.livejournal.com 2007-05-25 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Alucard inclined his head, "He cannot seem to control himself around vampires. Or perhaps that is more specifically, myself." And arched a brow, smirking at Integral.

[identity profile] hunterborn.livejournal.com 2007-05-27 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
An accident? Doris thought. Who exactly was this man? Or rather what was he? Was he a vampire victim who had not been as fortunate as she had? Or a dhampir like D? Part of her wanted to ask, but she felt it would be better to simply wait and listen.

[identity profile] favored-son.livejournal.com 2007-05-27 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Daywalker?" D arched an eyebrow, curious at the word Dr. Michaels had chosen. "May I ask what you mean by that?" On the Frontier, a term like that could be used to describe a creature that walked in the sunlight when it should have only roamed abroad at night.

[identity profile] steeldame.livejournal.com 2007-05-27 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
"You can be insufferable, Alucard," Integral remarked at her vampire with a soft voice. "Not everyone is graced with my patience to deal with your antics." Even she lost her temper in several occasions.

"Does this day walker have a name?" Integral asked, just in case he were to arrive one day. He would be trouble for her vampires and... other creatures for how it sounded.

[identity profile] hercount.livejournal.com 2007-05-27 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Can I, Master? I always considered myself. .quirky," Then dropped eyelids, half smirking. "By Daywalker, I would assume, D, that he means a vampire that can walk in the day. Is this daywalker a full vampire or . . half? Or perhaps something more."

He, himself, after all, was capable of walking in the daylight. He just hated it. Whereas D could, but was suseptible to sun poisioning; something that the elder vampire was not keen to point out.

[identity profile] hunterborn.livejournal.com 2007-05-27 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"What happened to you?" Doris asked softly before she thought better of it. She inwardly groaned, hoping she wasn't going to wind up getting herself thrown out for being rude, but the fact of the matter was, she had been a vampire victim, and she was both curious and sympathetic to other vampire victims. Although, by his own words, the doctor had not been attacked per se--but this fate was not his choice--the same as being on the receiving end of Count Lee's attentions had not been hers.

[identity profile] favored-son.livejournal.com 2007-05-27 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
D understood where Doris's question had risen from. On the Frontier, it was rare for victims of vampires or other demonic influences who retained their human sensibilities to have anyone with similar experiences to speak to. Doris was one of a small percentage who had emerged from the predations of the Nobility with her own strength intact. Here in the City, she could speak with others without the lifelong judgement of her neighbors weighing down on her.

[identity profile] steeldame.livejournal.com 2007-05-27 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"I used to think unions between humans and vampires wouldn't produce offprings either," Integral said, closing her eyes for a moment before glancing at D's direction with quiet wonder. "I was obviously mistaken in this assumption."

When Doris asked her rather direct question, Integral was half-way sipping her tea. It was a fortune, the knight had been schooled in the art restrain after years living next to Alucard.

[identity profile] hercount.livejournal.com 2007-05-27 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
"In my time, I have never heard of a union between humans and vampires; or at least, a successful union," The vampire explained. He knew the mythos, after all, but thought it had been just that.

Arching an amused brow at Integral, he watched her sip her tea without hiccup of disturbance at Doris' invasive question. Not that he cared it to be invasive, the reaction could be amusing.

[identity profile] hunterborn.livejournal.com 2007-05-28 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Doris nodded at the doctor's story, extremely relieved that she hadn't offended him. So, the disaster for him had been self-inflicted. It seemed that their situations were not necessarily so similar after all--aside from the extremes of what they were capable of doing to avoid what fate had put in store for them.

Doris flushed from her hairline to her collar bone remembering how far she had been prepared to go to ensure she did not become a vampire--and realizing the person meant to receive that payment was within five feet of her did not help.

She cleared her throat, hoping the flush in her face wasn't as visible as it felt. "Thank you for sharing your story, Doctor. I should apologize, that was a rather direct question... I..." she paused, her fingers tracing over the choker that she still wore to cover the scars left by Count Lee, "certain events from my past have me rather curious about people in your situation..."

Oh, she had never wanted to crawl under a rock and die so much in her life...

[identity profile] favored-son.livejournal.com 2007-05-28 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
"It is rare for someone affected by vampires--in any fashion--to survive in the world that Doris knows," D contributed, his tone as even and impersonal as though he were simply reporting statistics. Doris's reaction was not lost on him, but he had moved beyond what she had offered to him in desperation at that first meeting. She had no need to be embarrassed. Her offer had not diminished his opinion of her--had in fact done a good deal to heighten it--but D could never have accepted. His reasons were numerous, not the least of which being that he had no wish to return the girl to the same sort of danger she had hired him to protect her from. "Life is difficult for those who aren't killed, and it is uncommon to meet survivors."

[identity profile] steeldame.livejournal.com 2007-05-28 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Integral listened to Morbius' tale with solemn seriousness. Pride before the fall, it was not unheard of what truly was behind the doctor's condition and she would point it out if his arrogance got in the way for an alternative cure.

Doris' remark, however, moved her. She would not show any admiration and respect outwardly, but that she hadn't given in after an attack show strength of character.

"Miss Lang," Integral addressed her first with a crisp authority air. "This isn't the time and place to share former plights. And stop being so tense around me. I am the least likely person here who is going to bite you." The girl surely didn't think she would harm her? After that, the knight reclined on her coach. "Have you tried an alternative to solve your illness, Doctor Michaels? Such as Alchemy?"

[identity profile] hercount.livejournal.com 2007-05-28 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"But you are the most frightening, my Master, as well as the one who yeilds the most power," Alucard replied, a smirk turning up one corner of his mouth.

[identity profile] hunterborn.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Doris would have laughed at the irony of Sir Hellsing's words--if she wasn't so mortified that D had casually let slip that she was a vampire attack survivor after she'd obviously skirted the subject in front of their guest.

And why the hell was she so nervous around Sir Hellsing? She was sitting in a room with two vampires and a dhampir, and she was most anxious about the only other human in the room. Well, she thought, She may be the least likely in the room to bite me, but she's the most likely to kick me out of the building...
