When; June 16, afternoon
Rating; Rather NC-17, with minor WTF for Greed showing actual emotion.
Characters; Greed
so_very_greedy and Rangiku
10thdiv_haineko
Summary; Greed invites Rangiku out for a relaxing treat at the springs and learns something he'd rather not know.
Log;
Greed went to check out the springs ahead of time, making sure there were no current guests about. He could imagine that Doumeki would pitch a fit if he was escorting a woman out to the springs, but he really didn't care what "Mr. Grumpy" thought. After being satisfied that they wouldn't be seen, he went to Rangiku's room.
"Yo," he said, knocking on the door, "You in, babe? Time to head out."

Greed's heartbeat was speeding up in his chest. An uncomfortable, tight feeling that he wasn't familiar with. Almost like fear. He had never felt fear.

With another sigh, she snuggled closer, knowing what she'd asked wasn't something good.

A moment of silence passed between them, until Greed started to rub at his eyes.
"Ah...What the hell? Ran, is there somethin' in my eyes? They feel really weird," he said, honesty confused.

".... they're tears, Greed."

He held her for a moment, then nuzzled her neck.
"Ran, if things were different, ya' know, if we had both been born human. I think I'd have probably been happy spendin' my days with ya'."

His next words surprised her, and it was obvious. She stared up at him for a long, silent moment, then dipped her head to rest her forehead on his shoulder. "I seem to end up loving the men that fate would keep me from having.... "
Her voice had gone soft, almost too soft to be heard.

"Ya' know if there was a way to send you back to your world and go with you, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Who knows, maybe I could get a license as a shinimami?" he joked, stroking her hair.
He felt a small shift in the atmosphere as he held her, when suddenly a large explosion of force rocked the upper level of the building next to them.
"Shit!" he yelled, putting himself over over Rangiku and trying to shield her abdomen, face, and neck.

Cry or curse, anyway.
The light touch on her hair soothed her frazzled nerves, but when she felt his arms tighten around her, she started. In a splash of water, she was pushed back deeper into the pool, but the arms she'd thrown around him kept her balance. It was an instant before a flash of pain lanced across one arm. She hissed under her breath, but kept it as quiet as she could.
She was hoping he hadn't heard.
What meager power she could spare was called to quickly heal over the top few layers of skin so that it would just look like a minor scratch, and nothing more. Deeper healing would have to wait, and she wasn't even able to do that. It would take time, and nothing more, though.
"What the hell was that?"
Already, she was trying to move; her training coming to the foreground.

He began to get up and move to the edge of the pool.
"If somebody wants to fight, he's got it."

"Greed! This isn't a time to go picking fights. We need to make sure everyone's alright!"

He scooped Rangiku up and began to move, ignoring the glass cutting into his feet. It would just heal soon, anyway.
"It was the second floor. Where's your bodyguard, we may need his help!"

The glass crunching under his feet made her wince a little, knowing just how it hurt, but she didn't worry too much. Greed was tough and she'd seen him take a lot of damage and be just fine.
".... I'm not about to call on him here in the middle of the springs. Everyone would panic even more than they already are!"

"Here, take this and we'll start searching. I just hope everything is good..."
