One minute he had merely been attempting yet again to sneak into the kitchen in order to bake something for Sakura-chan, which he wouldn’t really claim of course aside from leaving it upon the nearest table for her to find, before he felt it. A violently cold, icy probing into the folds of his brain that completely blinded what little vision he had left, everything around him slowly dimming until nothing was left, without rhyme or reason. "Wha—?" And then it all came into distinctly sharp focus, snatching the mage’s breath away as he gasped shallowly, one blue eye focused upon the image of a bleak tower rising up from within his memories and stopping his breath entirely short.
"It’s—why is—Fai, Fai—!" Somehow, the mage entirely lost sight of reality and stumbled forward blindly, nearly toppling over a piece of furniture in his haste to get to the tower in time, not to let him fall to his death, not because of him. "Please—please, don’t—NO!" Fai truly toppled right over this time, foot having caught upon the nearby rug to send him unforgiving hard onto the floorboards, just as a savage cry was ripped from his throat and he twisted in agony, forced to watch helplessly as his twin fell—and fell—and fell. On impact, the mage drew his lankly limbs forward and curled up tightly, fairly shouting to drown out the noise of the wet, sickeningly familiar thump as the body slammed into the ground. Dead.
To say that Kurogane had hit the ground running would’ve been an understatement. He had been relaxing near one of the
He spotted the mage lying curled on the floor, shouting something—his own name?—out loud. What the hell--?
“Oi! Mage!” The ninja dropped to one knee beside the blond, reaching out to shake his shoulder roughly.
Only a mere blink altered the memory at hand as the mage’s blue eye grew even wider by each shuddering, hoarse breath that he gasped, staring straight through the ninja and at the frightening display within his subconscious. "S-S-Sakura—" With a violent shudder, Fai couldn’t help but feel compelled to press his trembling palm gently over Kurogane’s stomach in apology, who he only saw to be the princess, now. But even as the nightmarish recollection proceeded onward, a clouding dark blood permeated the air around them heavily, forcing the mage to choke and stumble away on all fours, a rough, wracking scream ripped from his throat to ring throughout the
The ninja could only stare in shock as the mage called him, of all things, the princess’s name. What the hell was going on here?! He nearly flinched as Fai scrambled away from him, the mage’s hoarse scream sending chills down his spine and raising the hair on the back of his neck. “Oi! Fai!” He pushed to his feet to move after the blond, but froze as the floor creaked a bit under him. Oh no. Not good. “Shit...” The swear was hissed out from between clenched teeth. He pushed forward anyway, grabbing onto Fai’s collar and yanking him up. If he either didn’t get the mage back to reality or away from the
"Take—no, please NO—Yuui," the last word was torn from the mage’s dry throat as he practically twisted so desperately out of the ninja’s strong grip that he ripped his collar rather violently, a bruised mark blooming upon his pale neck as he abruptly lost his balance and slammed backward into a low table. Temporarily blinded for a minute with the quick, ruthless bang as his wispy blond head abruptly connected with the furniture’s hard wood, Fai was rendered utterly immobile and could only gurgle for a moment which then turned into hard, choking coughs that wracked his thin body. "Fai. . no, Fai. ." Shuddering fiercely, the mage twisted once more so that he crawled half onto one leg and one elbow, crying out brokenly, a sound that echoed mercilessly throughout the halls within the residence before the windows around them trembled and shattered, shards of glass washing over the floors in reply to the magician’s howl.
Kurogane attempted to grab the mage as he fell, but missed, red eyes flying wide before he ducked against the hail of glass. He snarled, yanking the blond all the way up into his arms as he pushed quickly to his feet. He didn’t know what the hell was going on, but considering the way the mage had destroyed their battlefield in Infinity, it wouldn’t surprise the ninja if he did the same to the
Fai squirmed and twisted ruthlessly within the other’s foreign arms, nausatingly dizzy all of a sudden from the knock to his head before, on the verge of passing out but not nearly free enough from the chains of his punished memories, just yet. "Can’t. . can’t, not again, please not again—" A few panted whimpers escaped through the mage’s broken sentences as his head suddenly dropped forward onto the ninja’s shoulder rather heavily, the whole world swinging back and forth before his wavering, single vision, everything growing worryingly unfocused despite the tall ominous tower looming overhead even behind his closed eyelid. "My fault, my fault, my fault, my fault. . . " Out of nowhere, Fai fell suddenly and eerily silent, having ceased even breathing in order to listen to the sickening noise of his twin’s lifeless body hitting the cold ground below once more, any plants to which they passed within the forest shriveling and meeting a nasty end, as Kurogane moved them on.
“Shit, who the fuck is doing this to you?” It was snarled out—but he didn’t really expect an answer, even as he watched the plants around him turn brown and die before his very eyes. “Fai! Dammit, mage, this isn’t funny! Cut it out!” This was getting very bad, very quickly. He had no idea how to snap the blond out of this one.
One foggy blue eye then opened with lazy horror, memory after memory completely and utterly blinding what little sanity he had managed to salvage before the arrival to the city, most obviously with the threatening whistle of a rather cold, harsh wind to which breezed past them like a knife. ". . . again? " It saturated all down the front of his clothes now, blood that wasn’t his own, he knew very well it wasn’t his once the frightening images of the princess surfaced and focused with such a violent clarity, that the magician could no longer control anything about the way the aforementioned plants began to frost over. After a few passing seconds, even the ground proceeded to grow slick with a light ice, just as everything living around them grew cold with foreign snow. That was when Fai exhaled, gasping slightly, his own shaken breath ghosting out in front of him though he hadn’t the faintest clue what he was doing or capable of really, then.
Kurogane’s brow pulled deeper into a frown as the area around them grew cold as a layer of ice began to cover everything. This…was not good. Fai obviously had no idea what the hell he was doing any more, and at this rate... Kuro lifted a hand, tilting the mage’s head just slightly before his drew his hand back, hitting the side of his hand against one spot to knock the blond out thoroughly. “Sorry.” he muttered, more to the knocked out mage than to anyone else. Who the fuck was making Fai see things that weren’t real? One way or three, the ninja was not pleased—and someone was going to pay.
