Rating: PG-13 for language
Characters: Kensei ([profile] combat_knife) and Hiyori ([profile] aint_footin)
Summary: Hollow!Kensei wants to fight Hiyori
Log:

He paced the tunnel in the Underground with nervous energy.  He wanted to fight that bitch so bad he could almost taste her blood on his tongue.  He hadn't forgot how she had helped all that time ago, helped Kensei suppress him so that he was locked away to be used like a fuckin' battery.  She going to pay for that, he was going to beat her until fuckin' candy came out.

Heh, maybe I'll beat her until she can't do shit, keep her that way until her Hollow comes out.

He liked that idea, liked it a lot.  As much of a loner as he was, it would be nice to have an ally.  He knew that sooner or later the shinigami or someone would come after him and as strong as he was, he didn't think he could fight 'em all.  If he had to go though, it would be a hell of a lotta fun to kill as many of them as he could.

"C'mon little monkey!!!"  he shouted out in the tunnels, flaring his reiatsu again. "
I'm gettin' kinda bored down here!!"

Twenty-four hours. That was all the time Hiyori had had to compose herself since her last major conversation with the Hollow, and Hiyori wasn't sure if it was enough. Unfortunately, time wasn't something Hiyori had particular control over at the moment, and waiting longer would have only meant more trouble for the general City populace--the fact that she had barely been able to intervene before the Hollow attacked his first target was proof enough.

However, twenty-four hours had not been enough for Hiyori to call her own Hollow out, and there were already warning signs that clearly told that this battle wasn't going to be an easy one. At all. She had already been in the Underground for a few minutes when the Hollow shouted for her to come, which probably meant that her reiatsu level was so low that the Hollow hadn't recognized it as hers. Her Hollow wasn't coming back anytime soon.

But no matter. Hiyori's intention wasn't really to battle anyway.

Seeing him was still enough to stall her breath for a moment, but soon enough Hiyori steeled her nerves and started slowly walking towards the Hollow.

"Hmm, looks like yer gettin' sloppy," Hiyori remarked, "'Cause I've been here fer quite a while and ya ain't done anythin' t'me yet."

"Too afraid?" Hiyori scoffed, grinning. "Of what? Breakin' a nail?"

She unsheathed her zanpakutou, completely unsurprised when it refused to undergo initial release. Hiyori wasn't exactly sure what she had done to piss her inner Hollow--or perhaps it was her inner resolve--so much, but it wasn't something she could bother with right now. And at least it was probably something she could use as a bluffing tool. Or something.

"I don't even need to release this baby t'fight ya," she bragged, lips pulling into a grin. "C'mon. I'll let ya have the first swing."

Speed was something Hiyori had never lacked, even before she had become a vaizored, but she made no move to evade the bala the Hollow shot at her, simply staring into his eyes as the bala hit her left shoulder, tearing into the muscle and ripping a few tendons in the process. It took some effort, but Hiyori successfully managed to suppress the urge to flinch.

"That's gonna make me regret it? Didn't even hurt. Either yer aim's the most pitiful thing I've ever seen, or ya ain't got a lick of common sense. At least hit my right arm if ya wanna incapacitate me."

It wasn't completely a lie. Sure, the blast hurt like hell, and Hiyori could feel the blood dripping down her arm--with her Hollow gone, there was no way in hell to regenerate quickly. However, it probably wasn't a fatal injury. Just one that would keep her out of commission for a while.

Of course, if only one bala did that much damage, it wasn't something to be too optimistic about.

"Why don't ya try again?" Hiyori taunted, raising an eyebrow in challenge.

When she heard the familiar voice, familiar tone, Hiyori's eyes flew open, feet immediately stumbling forward as she dropped her zanpakutou and reached out with her good arm, left one hanging uselessly and dripping blood onto the ground.

"K-Kensei? Fuck, is... is that you?"

Her brows were furrowed so tightly that Hiyori could feel the strain becoming almost painful, but all of her attention was focused on Kensei now.

"Shit, Kensei, stay with me here... it's me, Hiyori..."

Eyes flashing with intent, Hiyori quickly stepped closer, a mix of sonido and shunpo aiding her speed and reiatsu gathering at her hand to act as a shield, and grabbed the blade with her right hand in an effort to push it back.

"Aagh!"

Despite the hiero Hiyori had attempted to build, the blade was still sharper and too much for her in her weakened state, and so the zanpakutou managed to cut a few millimeters in, blood from Hiyori's veins immediately dripping down the blade. Hiyori almost wanted to retch, nerves jangling as she felt some of them sever under the blade, but there had been no time for anything else, given how stupidly she had dropped her blade...

"Just a lil more, Kensei," she hissed, arm faltering as her strength started to give way.

Hiyori could only gape as she watched the mask break off into a million pieces, Kensei's face slowly coming back into view and eyes returning to normal. She didn't even notice the slight smile pulling at her lips as he started to speak, relief washing out all other emotions.

"This, bad?" she scoffed, snorting lightly. "Yeah, right. I've had worse."

You've had worse.

Slowly, she released the blade, allowing it to drop the rest of the way to the ground, where it clattered lightly. Every bone in her body wanted to give way, every bit of her consciousness just wanted to black out, but Hiyori struggled to stay standing. She just needed a few more seconds.

"'Least yer back... 'm sorry, Kensei."

It wasn't enough to wash away the guilt, really. If anything, it only called Hiyori's attention back to it, the weight on her shoulders seemingly increasing as she fell to her knees, blood immediately seeping into her pants. She hadn't realized that she had lost that much.

"Shit, Kensei, don't try'n cover up my mistakes fer me," Hiyori grumbled, eyes closing as she tried her best to remain sitting up. "It'll just make me feel worse. I'm always bein' stupid."

The most worrisome part to her was the fact that Hiyori honestly didn't know if she could change. Probably couldn't, even.

"I don't deserve t'be part of the vai," she mumbled, body tilting from side to side before falling forward against him, familiar warmth barely registering in her voice by that point.

"S'okay, s'okay, these wounds... not as bad... as yers."

Hiyori could feel her fingers curl weakly into the fabric of his pants before everything began fading to black.

Seemed like she had been spending a lot of her time like that lately.
