Log ;; Complete

When; Thursday 21st June
Rating; PG
Characters; Roy [livejournal.com profile] flameroy,Hughes [livejournal.com profile] investigius and Riza [livejournal.com profile] hawkeyedsoldier
Summary; Roy's elated that his best friend, and First Lieutenant... Potential Girlfriend... Riza are here with him, and he takes them both out for a walk through the gardens to see the beauty hiding in the City. He probably expects they'll all go for something to eat after, if Riza doesn't kill Hughes for telling Roy to get married soon.
Log;

Roy was reclined on the sofa in their living room. Laptop on his knees, feet up on his desk and his arms spanned out across the sofa's edge. It was weird, that both Riza and Maes were only meters away, but he'd had to post on the Network about their walk. He was smiling rather broadly actually, and he had to remind himself that Maes didn't have a single idea about how drastically his and Riza's relationship had developed, literally overnight.

The grin was unmovable, so he closed the lid of the laptop and let his head fall back to rest on the sofa, staring at the ceiling. Life was too good to him.

Life was too hard for him. Just how was he supposed to go everyday without the prospect of Elysia's happy giggle to liven up his day? Instead he was faced with neighing, Roy moping around and...well...at least the ticking had gone now and Roy had been rather un-mopey recently. It was strange. And Hughes did not trust that this change of heart had just happened over night on its own. There were outside forces at work and he was determined to figure out just what these 'outside forces' were made up of.

So far he had crossed out the possibilities of drugs, children (Roy, in all his sensibility seemed to dislike children...it was just unbelievable), possible marriage (he seemed to dislike that even more, and Hughes had yet to figure out why), more unicorns and that was as far as his list had grown as of yet.

And so he walked up to Roy, sat down opposite him with a notepad and pen and began to research.

First the eyes. They were almost shining with happiness. Then the relaxed position, then the laptop nearby, then the glow...Hughes scribbled furiously away. What the hell was going on with his friend?

Hughes almost cracked his pen open in surprise. He quickly relaxed his hand around it and took a few deep breaths before he passed out from shock. Then he blinked at Roy silently for a few moments before quickly returning to his pad.

'Roy OFFERING to go for a walk. Has the world flipped upside down?'

'Fact #1: Roy not acting like himself.

Fact #2: Roy in another world.

Fact #3: Roy without my personal help for a while.

Question #1: Roy's possible impending mental instability?'

Hughes clicked his tongue and looked up at Roy again before shrugging slightly. "I'm still getting used to the surrounding area. A walk might help a bit actually." And whilst we're out I can observe you outside your natural habitat.

Roy was smiling too much. It put Hughes on edge. So much so that he almost forgot to write down a few more lines of notes before standing up and joining his friend over beside the kitchen area. He carefully stuck his notepad in his pocket and fitted the pen behind one ear.

He couldn't just leave it lying about where anyone could find it, it was filled with serious inscriminating evidence.

Hughes almost replied a negative to the drink but couldn't resist and so merely nodded his consent, leaning in close to discover if Roy's cheek muscles were twitching from withstanding so much strain recently.

...Maybe he was giddy from pain?

"Are you...sore? Hurt anywhere? Suffering from any discomfort?" He got out his notepad in preparation for any answer.

Riza had never been much for research, but she had to admit that reading the older entries on the Network had become quite addictive. As she made her way up the stairs she could hear Roy's voice and another one replying to it... A voice she'd thought she'd never hear again. She peered into the main room almost shyly and confirmed her suspicions. Yes, that was Maes Hughes, all right.

She didn't say anything, just watched the two interact, slightly amused. Until Hughes started talking about pain. ...What? That didn't make any sense... Had something happened?

[identity profile] investigius.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Roy was smiling at the wall? Had he repainted? Had he really gone insane? Hughes was tempted to write something again but instead dismissed the idea as idiocy when he saw Lieutenant Colonel (wait, was she still a Lieutenant Colonel?) Hawkeye. He grinned widely, his smile almost matching his friend's.

Should he be flippant? Serious? It all made his head spin. How did one act with one's friend's love interest when one has been dead for a while? He didn't even know if he had died before Riza had been taken out of their world. It all just compiled together to give him one fierce headache. So instead of doing anything overtly hard he gave a half-salute, half-wave.

"Yo, Riza! When did you arrive?"

[identity profile] hawkeyedsoldier.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"...Maes," Riza greeted a bit numbly. It was still a little hard to believe. "Good to see you again. I just got in yesterday."

Riza returned Roy's good morning and flicked her gaze back to Hughes.

"How long have you been here?"

[identity profile] investigius.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hughes' smile failed a little at the idea of instant coffee. Gracia had always made it with beans...but then again Gracia was currently in another world. Which was good because she was with Elysia. Heaving a sigh Hughes took in Riza's expressions and was given an answer to his earlier question. So...he had been dead to her to. It was a hard pill to swallow.

Something was positive about this situation however. He noticed Riza. He noticed Roy. He noticed the looks. He didn't even have to sum up his thoughts in his notebook, it was written clearly over their faces. For anyone who would see it.

"I guess I'll have coffee."

[identity profile] hawkeyedsoldier.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Riza cocked an eyebrow at Hughes. She could see the way he was looking at her and Roy and decided that he hadn't changed a bit.

"Coffee's fine, thank you," Riza said, biting off the instinctual 'sir' at the end. She was never going to get used to this.

[identity profile] investigius.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm getting there," Hughes replied, taking the spoon. Pouring in a generous dose of milk Hughes then began putting teaspoon after teaspoon of sugar into his cup. If Elysia were here she'd be complaining after the bitter smell of coffee and if Gracia were here she'd be warning him after his teeth rotting...It was enough to make him miss home fiercely for a moment before he forcefully shoved all the alien thoughts away.

Okay, he was here for now and he had to make the best of it. Smiling to himself he passed over the spoon and got out his pen and notepad again, turning to another page and writing in capslocked letters,

'THE PLAN TO GET ROY MARRIED'

Under that he wrote, 'Needed, Two Subjects: Roy Mustang, Riza Hawkeye.'

His smile grew wider as he cheerfully placed a tick next to their names.

[identity profile] hawkeyedsoldier.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Riza frowned at Hughes as he scribbled on his notepad. Just what the hell was he writing, anyway?

...Part of her was afraid to find out.

"When are we going out?" she asked. She had to admit, she was rather eager to see the rest of the City. It seemed incredibly fascinating thus far.

[identity profile] investigius.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
'Step #1: Get Riza and Roy out of the house. Then ABANDON THEM.'

"Yes, going out now would be a great idea!" Hughes slammed down his coffee and made straight for the door, barely stopping to grab his coat (his coat? Roy's coat? Who cared~?) and then opening the door. He fully expected them to be behind them when he turned round and was fairly put out when they hadn't moved.

"...Well? Are you coming? We're missing sunlight!"

[identity profile] hawkeyedsoldier.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Riza blinked at Hughes' sudden flurry of movement, but nodded and fell in line behind him.

"Did the notebook tell you it was time to go?" she quipped.

[identity profile] investigius.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"...The notebook...what...don't be silly of course not." He paused for a minute, "Who told you that? Wait...no. Of course it doesn't talk." He laughed, rather too loudly than the occasion warranted as he walked out of the door, placing himself several feet in the lead.

And so began OPERATION: Roy/Riza Match, aka Get Roy Married Off to the First Girl Available so He Can Start to Enjoy Fatherhood Already.

He all but rubbed his hands in anticipation, already plotting ahead to what he could do.

[identity profile] hawkeyedsoldier.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Riza raised her eyebrows at Hughes, more than a little suspicious, but chose to say nothing. Instead she moved in front of Roy as directed, taking advantage of Hughes' position facing away to slip her arms around Roy's waist and sliding it away as she walked past him. She hoped he appreciated that, because she wasn't ready to do much else in the presence of someone else.

[identity profile] investigius.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
What? Of course he wouldn't would. "I'd burn it." Maybe. Unless it told him things about Elysia, Gracia, how to get Roy married, how to stop evil homunculi, how to thwart the higher ups in the military etc. Anything useful.

"...Or I'd get you to burn it." Because he didn't have match. Or a lighter. They were dangerous things to have around Elysia.

Once they'd reach the outside Hughes stopped, trying not to look behind him but confused as to what to do. He'd only been out once or twice since getting here and where did Roy wish to go? He needed somewhere preferrably romantic or...well...anywhere really. Maybe alleyways. Then he could pretend to get lost and...unless he really did get lost. In which case the plan became void because he wouldn't be able to bring out the preferred outcome.

"Which way should I go?"

[identity profile] hawkeyedsoldier.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why don't we let Roy lead the way?" Riza suggested, suppressing the urge to roll her eyes. "Out of the three of us, he's the only one who actually knows the way, after all."

She was beginning to wonder if it had been wise, going out with the two of them. Hopefully they wouldn't end up giving up on finding the garden and go to a bar or something...

[identity profile] investigius.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hughes raised an eyebrow. "You know I'll always support you," was all he said as he walked. He wasn't sure what else to say. He didn't think a military would suit this peaceful place but a government might give it some semblance of order and the military was always useful in case of disasters.

He gave a simple shrug. Anything fine by Roy was fine by him. Although the question of how to set up a government/military policy here was a complicated one. They would have to go through several procedures first and what if no one wanted to be under rule? Or another group decided to be 'in charge'? They could have a possible coup d'etat on their hands.
