Log; Ongoing
When; June 26th, blizzard day
Rating; PG--and full of lethal cute
Characters; The Faun
vigil_del_fauno , and his Princess Moanna
princess_moanna
Summary; A joyful reunion between Princess and servant in a snowy downpour.
Log;
To say he was happy would have been a horrendously executed understatement. To say he was overjoyed was closer, but still not enough. The Faun was practically racing through the snow, his two pets fighting to keep up.
She was here. The reason for his servitude, his very existence...that which he spent so many eras above the world that bore him--she was here. His Princess. Princess Moanna. The thought of her standing frozen in the snow against the wind only made him move faster. He wished she hadn't come...she had stayed where she was safe, and loved--away from a world of such pain and chaos. Away from humans.
Secretly, he was worried another taste of upperworld life would draw her back to the sun...it pained him. And he could never let her go again.
And so, he ran faster. To find her before any other did.

She had missed the City. She had missed the strange people, the spontaneous curses, the garden Xanadu, the fountain....she had missed the friends she had made here: Lyra and Ptolemy. They were both so different from her usual companions back home, but she cherished their friendship just as much as she did the friendship of others. She had missed the City...and now, her stay would be so much better, because he was here.
"He", of course, being the Faun. She had missed him so much during his absence. She had never realized how much she looked forward to hearing his deep voice scolding her for not paying attention in lessons or the creaking of his limbs as he trailed along behind her, or the stories he would tell her. She had grown so used to his presence in her day-to-day life that she had honestly not known what to do without him. It was like someone had cut out a part of her and let the wind take it where it would. Estella was even letting his absence get to her - after all, her sisters stayed with the Faun. Separating a fae from its own kin was something only the most cruel and cold-hearted persons would do, for fae were at their strongest when together. Estella had been less attentive, and more quiet than usual during her sister's strange disappearance, and this worried Moanna.
The princess reached out to gently stroke Estella where she was curled up underneath Moanna's garments, trying to stay as warm as possible. "Don't worry, Estella, you'll be seeing your sister's soon! Pan will find us, and everything will be all right again," Moanna said, hoping to encourage her tiny little friend.
Sure enough, as if on cue, the familiar sound of a pair of hooves, creaking legs, and high chirping reached her ears. A smile lit up on Moanna's face, and she grinned as the far-off form of the faun and Estella's sisters trailing behind him grew closer and closer.
Without thinking of manners or what was "appropriate" to the situation, Moanna took off at full speed, her shoes slipping and sliding over the snow, running as fast as she could muster towards her guardian, happiness overtaking her.

A small form, running through the dark and snow...rich red silk shined in dim muted lights from near the city...short dark hair, skinny legs--a smile that could shame the moonfall.
The Faun slowed--for only a moment. Just a moment, and he saw her. His Princess. Only a week and a number of days, and he had missed her dearly. Missed her hands and how they moved when she talked excitedly. How her eyes shined when she was truly happy.
And the moment passed--quite suddenly. The girl had been running at such speed, her embrace toppled the Faun off his hooves and into a pile of snow.

"Pan!!! I'm so happy to see you - I was worried about you so much, and nobody could find you, we didn't know where you were...but you were here all along, and I found you!!" She cried, as Estella immediately flew out from where she had been hiding to fly around the pair's heads, squeaking in excitement.
"I-I thought for awhile that...that you were tired of watching after me, and you left me..." For a minute, Moanna was afraid she might start to cry, but she pushed these sad thoughts away and focused on the happy ones instead. "But then I knew it c-couldn't be true, because you'd never leave me if you could help it."
At long last, she looked up at him, a broad smile on her face. "I'm just so glad to see that you're all right!"

Just happy.
He gently pet her hair, a low purring brushing the top of her head. He couldn't possibly be upset with her now, could he? Then, her tearful confession...leave her? Never. Out of the question. Insanity. He would rather die. And he smiled again that she knew it.
Finally, those large doe brown eyes turned to his face. Her sparkling smile he so adored. And she was glad he was all right. It was then he remember that it had been two months in their world...two months...he wouldn't have been able to stand being away from her for two months, the worry would have killed him.
He touched her face delicately, as he's done many times before.
"Yes, Princess...your Faun is fine. I am full, and jubilant, to see you again, and glad that you yourself are unharmed..and safe."

"I'm okay - the snow isn't that bad! The City isn't dangerous as long as there's no curses going on....it's only when there's curses that this place is dangerous, but other than the weird weather, I don't think anything strange is going on," she told him.
There was a beat, and then she was burying her face into his rough wood-like chest again, hugging him tight. "I missed you so much," she murmured.
Another silent moments passed as the snow fell into her dark hair and on her rich clothes, until finally, as if she only just realized that they were laying in a snow drift, she withdrew let go of the faun and rolled off of him, coming to her feet. Estella chittered in disapproval at the state of her clothes, but was soon cut off by her sisters' tackling her in the air as they caught up with the two of them.
"I'm sorry; I hope I didn't get you too wet or cold or anything, I was just really excited," she apologized, hoping that the faun wouldn't be upset with her.

He couldn't help but hold her the slightest bit closer. The Faun wasn't entirely sure what to say..and that didn't happen very often. He was a riddler, and spoke in twisted words, words as twisted as his body. But there were no words...no response...just Moanna. The Princess. His Princess, her small warm body clutching him for dear life.
When she did remove herself from him, he sat up in the snow, now somewhat calmed from his initial euphoria. He watched Estella, his favorite pet, and his gift to her, scold her clothing, and laughed as her sisters nearly knocked her out of the air. Faes were very affectionate to their family...
He tilted his head as Moanna apologized. Her eyes lowered, her fingers twiddled(something he scolded her for many times a day), and she was an absolute mess.
But it was freezing. And she had been excited, the mess of snow about them was proof of that.
The Faun purred lightly and stood. He shook the snow from him with a bray, flicking his head some as he did so. He looked down at Moanna, inclining both head and shoulders.
"Snow is but water, and water is but cold. Water is the life. Cold is not a thing of our world, but that of the world above us. I do not feel it. It does not bother your Faun."
He then extended a hand to her.
"And this Faun shall not let his Princess stand in the fiercest wind and ice."

They walked through the snow strewn streets of the City, not meeting a single soul; the weather was such that no one dared or wanted to go outside. Her red shoes were thoroughly soaked now, and she tried to keep her teeth from chattering, but to no avail. The fae followed them closly behind, chittering to one another, clearly enthusiastic to be in one another's presence.
"Let's go the cafe," Moanna managed to get out, keen to get some hot liquid down her throat. There was no better hot chocolate than from Cafe Juliet, after all.
"....What happened when you l-left?" She asked him, shivering beside the calm faun, who seemed to be unaffected by the cold.
