Rating:G-they're just talking.
Characters:
Sonny,Professor Wordsworth,Minako
Summary:The Professor offers the newcomers a chance to chat, they accept.

Log:

He was in the flat, looking at the computer. This one was not so different from back home, but it still was a bit old. If the year is to be believed,28 years early-old,if that made sense. Bu then again, this whole place didn't make sense.

He smiled and turned off the computer. Proffesor Wordsworth had just offered him and Miss Minako a chance to hat a chat and he'll take what ever interaction he can get.

He walked to the living room, his body making the usual machanic sounds.

[ooc:I suck at HTML links, okay? But it's short. Someone teach me?]

William was sitting, relaxed in the sitting room. The tea was ready and there was a plate with cookies as well. Sighing, he closed his book. He hoped that Miss Minako wouldn't be too much of a headache. She was even more hyper than Abel, which was hard to believe but true.

Hearing slight mechanic sounds, he looked up and smiled.

"Ah, Sonny. It's good to see you. Come and sit down."

The ticking persisted in her room, even though she had no clock. Minako was perplexed by that and spent a good deal of her first few minutes in there searching for the source, even calling out for Artemis, who might have beaten her there and hidden it! But, nothing greeted her, as the same nothing had greeted her the morning of her mad dash straight into this City. It was curious and though part had been explained to her, she would need to learn more.

Without clock, she lost track of the time when she began to settle into her room, twisting up sheets and digging through drawers to give it the right touch of Idol Minako to make it home! After some time, she stood back, hands on her hips, and nodded at the arrangement.

Turning on her heel, she dashed for the door and the common room, skidding to a stop a few feet from the couch. "Ah-ha, lightspeed Minako is always on time!" she announced triumphantly, posing with her hand struck high in the air. She waited for the awed applause that Usagi often gave her, but all that she heard was a muffling of the ticking, and the sounds of Sonny as he moved. She blinked, then drew back and smiled almost sheepishly, waving her hand to dismiss her actions. "Ahhhaha, good afternoon, Sonny!"

And then another was there, the kind benefactor who was housing this little lost android and the aspiring idol that was herself. "Professor Wordsworth too!"

William nodded in understanding, "I imagine that it can be hard sometimes."

Following suite, he gave a small wave and a smile at Minako, "Hello. I'm glad to see that you're settling in."

Minako looked to both seated and dashed for her own chair, taking it with a greath of elegance, dignity, and beauty -- the first such she had demonstrated. This was not hanging out at the arcade, this was with very dignified people and she should act that! People with such airs did not shout, they spoke; they did not stare, they blinked demurely; they did not wolf down cookies, but they did take one, or two, or three out of manners.

The first cookie only made it halfway to her mouth before she paused and lowered her hand, glancing at Sonny. "I'm fine!" she piped up in response to his question, smiling warmly before she brought the cookie up to nibble on its edges. After two days wandering about, she was relieved to have some sustenance, but she would give as much as she ate!

"I am indeed!" she agreed with a singsong shift of voice, looking to the benefactor of their situation. "But, the ticking persists... is there a hidden clock there?"

"Ah, the clock. Yes, there is a clock in the City, some say it's counting down to the end of the world, " he grimaced, "I don't know if that is true. But it does go away once you start spending time with other people. Give it another day and I'm sure you'll no longer hear it."

William poured some tea and handed her the cup, "Feel free to add milk and sugar if you like."

So it really was a part of the City that she found herself in. Minako nodded and nibbled on the edge of the cookie, leaving it caught between her teeth as she stretched to take the proffered cup with a muffled and crumb-filled 'thank you!' snuck out.

"So, there is an invisible clock that ticks, a carousal, and people from all sorts of worlds here?" she mused, blue eyes glancing to Sonny, unlike anything or anyone she knew in her world, even in the far future of it.

[OOC: I have to run out soon, but if Sonny and Wordsworth keep talking, please assume Minako has been listening intently and eating cookies~? <3]

He shook his head, "No, I don't believe a robot is involved." So, something had happened back in Sonny's world, William wouldn't push him on what happened.

William lit his pipe and sat back. "From what I've been able to find out the City is an alternate world that pulls people from various dimensions. If you do meet people from your own world, they might have been taken from different points in the time line, so what you know, they might not."

[identity profile] prof-wordsworth.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's right. But the worse thing is that the City is run by four powerful "deities" and they like to curse the City every few days."

The smoke from his pipe curled around William as he spoke, "Some of the curses can be mild and silly. While others have been known to cause bloodshed."

William nodded and gave the robot a reassuring smile, "You can tell me anything Sonny."

William listened carefully, his eyes widening in shock a little. A logical robot. Something like that in the City's computer systems would not be good.

He put his pipe aside and got up. Pacing a little, he thought through everything he knew about the City. Cortana lived in the system, she could go any where, he knew this. And lord knew how many others like her were able to do the same. From what William could tell, the City had a way of controlling every single person that had too much power.

He sat down in the chair next to Sonny's. "If she did come to the City, I don't think there is much she could do. The City has ways of controlling people and other beings. If she did get out of hand, there are people that could stop her."

He sighed and looked away from the robot, "But the truth is, I really don't know what would happen if she did come here."
