Summary; Kira takes Kisara out on a date just to show her what they are like. And, of course, to show her what pizza and ice cream is.
Log; Kira strolled down the hallway of the building Kisara stayed in. He was familiar with where she lived, remembering when he had stopped by to make sure she got through whatever sickness she had. When he found himself in front of her door, he stopped and looked at it for a moment, running through what they were going to do today. After that, he knocked twice, lightly. While waiting for Kisara to appear at the door, he slightly adjusted one of the belts on his shirt, out of habit.

A frantic squeak sounded from inside, and the door opened slowly. Kisara peeked out timidly, but brightened at the sight of Kira.

"Oh, hi, Kira..." she greeted, her voice its usual quiet tone. She slipped out the door and stared at him for a minute, at a loss for what to do next.

"Uh..."

"How are you doing today, Kisara? Are you ready to go?" Kira held out his hand, palm facing upwards. Hopefully, when Kisara was ready, she'd take his hand and he could lead her to where he had planned on taking her. Her didn't want her to get lost so he had to take certain precautions, no matter how compromising it looked.

Kisara blinked a few times at the proffered hand. Oh no, was there something she was supposed to give him on a "date"? She frowned, suddenly panicked that she'd done something wrong. Her first date and already she messed up. Stupid stupid stupid!

... Though, if dates were anything like Greed said they were, she was probably better off messing up.

Finally, she just bit her lip and decisively took Kira's hand. There. Maybe that would suffice. After all, that's what offered hands meant where she came from.... Maybe she'd get lucky.

For a moment, Kira had thought that from wherever she was from, holding out a hand meant something border lining death. When Kisara grabbed it, his worries abated but he hoped he hadn't committed some sort of mistake. Confident that Kisara was ready, Kira gently lead her out of the building and into the streets.

"Have you ever had pizza before? Or maybe anything similar?"

Kisara breathed a quick sigh of relief. Good, it worked. She followed her companion closely, looking around almost fearfully, just out of habit.

"N-no..." she said, shaking her head. "I haven't heard of anything called 'pizza' before.... What... is it?"

Kira laughed though he knew he probably shouldn't. "A pizza is a bread crust that has tomato sauce, cheese, and some other topping on it. Those three food types mix well and it tastes great. Usually you drink some type of soda while eating pizza. If you don't know what that is, you'll see later." Kira kept a slow pace, guiding Kisara around a few bends, coming closer to his destination.

He laughed? That meant something was funny... but Kisara didn't see anything funny.

"Soda...?" she asked absently, looking around to see if he was laughing at something she couldn't see. "Sounds strange...."

He gave a nod in assertion. "Yes, soda. It's a very sweet drink."

They had finally arrived to the pizza parlor after a short walk. Kira let go of Kisara's hand and opened the door for her. "Why don't you find a place to sit and I'll order the pizza and get the drinks."

Kisara squeaked, suddenly finding nothing to hold on to. Registering Kira's words dimly, she glanced around and hurriedly--if rather ungracefully--plopped down at the first unused table.

Now what?

Kira ordered a selection of two Cokes and a medium pepperoni pizza. After getting the drinks and putting straws in them, he returned to Kisara and took a seat in front of her. He set one of the drinks in front of her. "Here you go. Uhh, in case you don't know, that's a straw." Kira pointed at the white tube. "You drink out of it by sucking the drink through it."

Kisara stared at the drink for a minute, as if trying to judge if it was really safe, and hesitantly took a sip, following Kira's directions.

"It tastes... kind of good, I guess," she commented, offering Kira an attempted non-timid smile.

"Kind of good?" Kira tilted his head to the side a little, as if confused. "What are you used to drinking? Water?"

She nodded. "Y-yes.... Is that... bad?" She looked up, slightly alarmed. Now what had she done?

He shook his head, hair moving side to side across his face. "No, it's perfectly fine. It's very healthy. If you drink to much soda, it can be bad for you." Kira got to his feet again and walked back to the counter to retrieve the pizza. He brought is back and set up a plate for him and Kisara.

"Here, try it. You pick it up by the outside of the crust and bite it at the corner. Then you eat it all from there."

"Oh!" Kisara said in surprise, staring wide-eyed at the food. It was funny-looking, she thought. Really funny-looking. She tilted her head slightly and frowned when several long layers of white-blue hair fell over the plate. She brushed it away, irritated, and picked up the pizza. With a quick glance at Kira for a second reference on how to eat it, she hesitantly bit the slice.

Hey, it was actually pretty good....

Kira picked up his own slice and ate it, watching Kisara intently. He knew she knew how to eat but still...he wanted to make sure she didn't choke. At least she wasn't making a mess all over her clothes, though she seemed to be having a little problem with her hair.

"You like it?"

Kisara suddenly paused, mouth full. He was watching her; did that mean she'd done something wrong? What should she say?

She swallowed and hurriedly wiped her mouth.

"Yes..." she offered.

Kira would have smiled but his mouth was full with crust. So he nodded his head again and grabbed another slice of pizza. After swallowing, he spoke up. "Eat as much as you want. Just make sure to save room for dessert, alright?"

"Mm..." she murmured, smiling slightly. Good, another false alarm.

"What's... dessert?"

Kira's forefinger popped up and wagged back and forth. "That's a surprise. When we finish eating, you'll find out. It's a good surprise, trust me."

Kisara blinked, surprised. "O-okay," she stammered. What did that mean, she wondered, but decided it wasn't worth the effort and returned her attention to the pizza.

She couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten this well, really. It felt good, despite the hair she had to brush off every slice before taking a bite.

Kira managed to eat one more slice of pizza before his stomach began to protest. He was nearing his limits and wanted to make sure he could eat at least one ice cream cone. So he waiting for Kisara. He had eaten a lot faster than her since he was used to eating pizza.

As soon as she noticed Kira had stopped eating, Kisara froze uncertainly. Did that mean the meal was over? But... there was still food, and she'd always been taught to eat what was given to her. And this "pizza" was so good.... Were the customs different here?

"Kisara...you don't have to stop." Kira patted his stomach to make a point. "I'm done eating because I'm full. You should keep eating until you are full too."

Kisara cocked her head slightly. "... Full?" She knew what the word meant, to be sure, but she couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten until she was full. It didn't make sense.

"Yes, full. Well, leave enough room for ice crea-." Kira stopped, realizing he was letting part of his surprise slip. "Ah-. At any rate, just eat and don't worry."

Kisara gave him a puzzled look, raising an eyebrow quizzically. People here certainly were funny....

"Okay," she said finally, finishing off her current slice. She still wasn't sure if she was to continue eating, but she was better off safe than sorry. Plus, Kira had said to leave room for... something.

"I'm finished, I guess...."

"Alright then. Let's head to our next destination." Kira stood up and once again offered his hand to her. Hopefully, this time, she wouldn't hesitate.

Oh! This again! She knew how this worked!

Kisara took his hand, somewhat delighted she understood something. A small giggle escaped her lips, and without knowing she moved a hand to her mouth to stifle it. That was odd....

Actually, she had begun to feel rather peculiar after drinking that soda. Sort of... bubbly. She decided to ignore it.

Thoughts ran through Kira's mind after that giggle. He knew that sound and had hoped she had just found something funny to laugh at. He didn't want to think it was one of the flirtatious giggles Fllay used to give him a couple years ago. Did Kisara even know anything about that? Kira decided that it didn't matter and quickly arrived to the Ice Cream shop. "Kisara, have you ever had ice cream?"

"Ice cream...?" So that was the surprise? It sounded funny. But then, so had everything else he'd given her tonight.

She shook her head. "I've... never heard of ice cream...."

Kira gave her a warm smile. "Well then..." Kira ordered two ice cream cones, chocolate in flavor. He held one of them out to her. "You hold it here by the bottom and eat it from the top down. If it starts to melt, then you lick around the top of the cone so your fingers don't get ice cream on them. You don't want sticky fingers."

"Ooh..." Kisara said wonderingly, holding the cone as if it were going to shatter in her hands. She glanced at Kira, watching to see what he did with this strange thing called "ice cream."

Kira tried his best to give Kisara a good example. He licked the sides of the ice cream a few times to get a good taste of chocolate. Then he took a bite off the top of the swirl, savoring the coolness and taste in his mouth. Kira glanced over at Kisara, watching her to see what she did.

She blinked, as if surprised that he looked at her, and uncertainly licked the ice cream. Her eyebrows shot up.

It was cold! And--more importantly--it was good!

Kira laughed out loud at Kisara's expression. "You like it, don't you? Desserts are supposed to be this good." Kira kept eating his ice cream until he was down to the cone. Then he began to eat his cone, which crunched loudly in his mouth.

"It's very good!" Kisara replied between mouthfuls. She ate the ice cream much quicker than the pizza somehow--it was just too good not to eat. Even the cone, she found, was good.

After Kira finished his own cone he looked over at Kisara. "Remember, desserts may taste good but if you eat to much, you'll get sick, alright. Since you've never had ice cream before, I don't think you should have anymore today."

Kisara's eyes widened. "I'll get sick?" That was unfortunate, she thought. It was so good... though, it did make her feel a little funny inside, kind of like the soda.

"Why will it make me sick?"

As soon as she said it, she was surprised at the boldness of her tone. She was questioning Kira? Unthinkable! Why was she being so silly?

"Why...?" Kira thought for a moment, completely not realizing Kisara's own internal struggle. "Because it makes your stomach ache and sometime you'll puke."

"Oh..." she replied, somewhat at a loss. "Okay."

She didn't dare ask what "puke" meant; Kira's tolerance of her foolishness surely wouldn't last long.

"When can I have more, then?"

Again, the words sprang from her mouth without her control. Kisara resisted the urge to smack herself over the head.

Kira put his hand on her head and looked into her eyes. "You can have more later. Maybe in an hour or so? Just don't eat to much alright?" He removed his hand and held it out to Kisara. "Now, would you like to go back to your room or come back to mine and spend some time with Ran?"

Kisara stiffened at the contact and remained so after it was gone. It was a gut reaction, she noted, as she could find no real reason for it. She hoped Kira hadn't noticed.

"Uh..." She blinked, trying to decide which option was the best. Oh, she was too indecisive!

While waiting for an answer, he offered an opinion. "I think Ran would like to see you. She enjoys shopping for clothes and I'm sure you'd like to do that."

Kisara stared at him, perplexed.

"Okay," she agreed finally, deciding just to go with what he seemed to want.
