Summary; Anita takes a walk and finds another kind of monster
Log;

It was still a warm night, but that didn't stop Anita from making he way out of the city proper and into the woods she'd grown familiar with while a wolf. The gun held secure in her shoulder holster might look out of place with her tank top and worn jeans, but she never went without it. There were other hidden toys as well, but the gun was always her first means of defense.

The birds above her called in their various songs, and the sounds made Anita smile, at least a little.

The scene grew dark within moments. It wasn't any visible kind of darkness, but more of a vague feeling of something not quite right. Something unnatural. The birds immediately stopped, as if afraid to sing. Indeed, it seemed like anything living in the area had suddenly lost the courage to show itself.

"Early one morning, just as the sun was rising," a warbling, almost mechanical voice cooed out, "I heard a maid sing in the valley below..."

As the sound got louder, seemingly coming in from all sides, a ragged man covered in a bloodstained trenchcoat stepped into view. He stopped roughly ten meters from her and stopped his singing.

"Ah, there you are. Hello."

"You don't remember me? No..no, of course, no one does. No one cares about me, anyway. But I can make them..." he said, more to himself than her, "I'm Walter. Walter Sullivan. I just had to meet you after we spoke through the machine."

He took a few tentative steps toward her, running a hand over the bark of a nearby tree. His touch caused the area to petrify and turn gray.

"You can't make fun of me."

He suddenly reached out for her arm.

"YoU'Re THe oNlY PerSOn wHo ShOUld wATcH OuT!" he said, his voice distorting unnaturally as he tried to grab her neck.

Walter's body was driven back by the bullets, his head flying apart. He stumbled back and fell down against the trunk of a tree. He lay still for a moment, then slowly began to rise, as if pulled by invisible strings.

"Mrrngllb," he gurgled through a quickly regenerating mouth. No blood dripped from where his wounds were. Rather an inky black substance was in it's place, slowly dripping down his body. The fluid spread corruption wherever it hit the ground.

"More pain...As usual," he said to her, "Death...Dying...Shouldn't be this hard..."

Walter's body was thrown back once more, the shots rocking him back against another tree. No real pain was showing on his face, nor any noise issuing from his mouth.

"It's useless," he said, grinning, "You should give up now and accept it."

He rose up again, the wounds slowly sealing themselves as he walked toward her. He let one hand drop to his side and slightly out, more of the liquid seeping onto it. The mass slowly grew and changed form, becoming a small hatchet when it finally solidified.

"Now, where were we?" he grinned, rushing her and taking a swing at her head.

Walter's eye took on look partway between fear and unbridled rage. He took a step back, pupils rapidly focusing and unfocusing.

"D-dog...DOG! DOG!" he screamed, his other hand creating a magnum. He aimed and fired multiple times at the beast as he charged, seeking to drive the hatchet into it's brain.

Walter was thrown down as the wolf's body collided with his own. He screamed and ranted, the darkness beginning to spill from him in response to his emotional duress.

"I'LLKILLYOUI'LLKILLYOUI'LLKILLYOUI'LLKILLYOUI'LLKILLYOUI'LLKILLYOUI'LLKILLYOU!"

He dropped the gun instead, creating mini-chainsaw. The machine roared to life as he brought it over, trying to dislodge the beast from his arm.

Walter whirled around on the great wolf, grinning now, his insanity taking over more of his mind.

"You can't kill me. I'm already dead," he laughed, teleporting behind her and forming two magnums, "DIE!"

He fired a volley of rounds at her and the area around her.

"DIE! DIE! DIE!"

Walter rushes after her at a much slower pace, methodically plodding after her. The dark miasma spilled out behind him.

"You can't hide from me, little doggy."

Walter continued to walk, stopping now and then to feel for her presence. His path led him around again, to the place where he began.

"I know you're out here," he yelled, "I'll hunt you down, no matter where you go."

He concentrated and looked in the direction she was in.

"You're breathing very hard."

Walter had been getting close when he saw the wolf bolt out in front of him and take off. He took a few pot shots at her, then watched her disappear into the distance.

"Keep running, whore," he said to himself, starting to walk again, "You can't keep moving forever."

He paused every now and then to take out different beasts that crossed his path, always imagining the wolf in front of him.
