He pushed aside the curtains and sat down at the stool, not bothering to take off his coat, nor his weapon.

He had been doing this for a long time, and he intended to keep doing it for a long time, after all.

It was all right that the Belmont didn't remove anything. The vampire didn't expect him to let down his defenses so easily. Glad that the man had shown up at all, Zelman pushed the little bit that remained of his cigarette into the ash tray.

"Yo," he greeted, a second cigarette between his fingers waiting to be lit. "Glad you could make it. I was afraid you weren't going to show up at all."

"I don't doubt that since you are a vampire hunter, after all." As soon as his sentence finished, he waved his hand at the man behind the counter to serve them. He had assumed that the man, who was older than he had thought, would know that ramen was ramen no matter what, and had only asked for water for his friend. Disliking water, Zelman had requested cola instead.

Speaking to Julius as if he were an old friend, he asked, "How have you been other than concerned about the amount of vampires in this city? Your world must not be used to so many vampires in one place." He put the cigarette, still unlit, in his mouth.

Amused by the man's decision to refer to vampires as 'your kind', Zelman only shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to light the cigarette without a lighter or a match. The small flames burst into life right at the end of the little roll, and faded away as soon as it was lit.

"It's almost hard to believe, but once upon a time I also knew the world to be that way." He was kind enough to exhale away from Julius, though not kind enough to talk without the cigarette in his mouth. He spoke well enough with it. "I live in a city made to protect vampires. The rest of the world, you see, tends to shun them for only wanting blood. As if they don't have enough to give!"

"Oh?" Zelman leaned closer and watched him work with the pipe, his desire to hear more of what this man had to say. "And why is that not the problem?"

As soon as the ramen arrived, Zelman thanked the man who had delivered it to them with a few nice words and a wave of his hand. He knew how to treat a man, vampire or human, to get on their good side.

"You know, I honestly can't recall if I've been given your name or not," admitted the red-haired vampire, wondering if the other even knew how to use the chopsticks that he himself had just broken. "Let's start off on a good foot, shall we? Zelman Clock, the heir to the bloodline of Asura... At your service."
