Summary; You should always pay attention when walking at night.
Log;

There were cicadas singing in the dark night air as Anita paced along one of the mostly hidden paths in the forest. The Browning was at her side, as usual, but there were also a pair of wicked looking knives strapped along each thigh. She looked armed to the teeth, which was always a good thing for taking a late night walk in the woods. After all, there were all kinds of monsters that roamed among the trees.

She wasn't paying real attention to the path under her feet, since she'd run it several times as a wolf and knew it very well. Her mind was occupied with the visions she'd seen in the fountain earlier; the three of them hurt, Richard and Jean-Claude close to death with her power the only thing keeping them close enough to have the chance to recover, the Mother of all Darkness...

So much happened in the few minutes she'd spent staring into the clear water. She was still trying to process it all into something she could understand.

A familiar oppressive aura fell over the area, driving away even the large beasts living in her area.

"Hello again," Walter said, appearing behind her, "I've found you once more."

Walter barely moved as the blade sank in. He calmly looked down, then at her.

"It's no use. I...just can't feel anything..." he said, a vacant smile on his face. He immediately swung a fist at her head.

"There is no escape this time. I've had enough waiting. I have a schedule to keep."

Walter's weight didn't shift as she thought it would. Indeed, it seemed almost as if his body contained some tremendous mass that his size belied.

"Stop jumping around, stupid dog," he said, grabbing for her again, "It's annoying."

[identity profile] beyond-the-room.livejournal.com 2007-07-18 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter stumbled backwards as the shots tore through his skull, but kept on his feet. The bullets trickled back out as they were pushed from his flesh, the wounds sealing up.

"You've already done that, before," he said, charging her and creating a sledgehammer in his left hand, "It won't work!"

He swung the heavy hammer in low arc, aiming for her legs.

The slices did nothing but open up small gashed. The wounds released more of the oily, viscious fluid from his body. The liquid dripped down onto her, staining her clothes.

"Useless! Ha ha ha ha!" he said, his eyes lighting up with reaction to her distress, "Stupid, stupid whore!"

He raised the hammer again and swung at her left leg.

"Ha ha, ha ha! I hurt that stupid dog, do you see, mother? Do you see me?!"

He took another swing at her, trying to strike anything he could in her scramble.

"I'll kill you!"

Walter stumbled over backwards, falling down. He slowly levitated to his feet and refocused on her, materializing a magnum in his hands.

"It's easier to stop fighting. What's the point of even living?" he said, more to himself than her, "I can't even do this to myself."

He began to take pot shots at the prone woman.

[identity profile] beyond-the-room.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Fighting is useless. You're only making your pain last longer."

He continued to fire at her, slowly advancing as he did.

Walter's grin twisted more as he teleported behind her and lifted her off the ground.

"As...you...wish!"

He brought her back and threw her violently forward, headfirst into a large tree. He followed her there, moving faster than before. His lifted her falling form with a kick to the chin.

A large hand palmed the back of her head as she was lifted off the ground. Walter's voice dripped with malice and something other-worldly.

"You stupid bitch! Is this what you wanted?!" he laughed, lifting her higher and slamming her onto the ground. He yanked her up by one of her broken legs and hurled her several yards through the forest, to collide with another tree. Several strange fruits were shaken loose by the impact, falling around her.

"You know," Richard said, a snarl reverberating deep in his throat. "That was the wrong thing to do."

Richard was glad he had decided to go running that night. What he had seen in the fountain played with his mind and he needed to clear his head. He had noticed a forest outside the City proper earlier and decided it looked like a good place to run. Then he heard the gunshot. Then he could smell the blood. Then he could smell Anita. So he had come running just in time to see her flung like a rag doll.

"You've got all of three seconds to leave," he warned. "I really want to hurt you, but I'd rather avoid it if possible."

Walter turned and smiled at his new guest.

"Another stupid dog-man. I'll kill you, stupid-dog man. You and her, I'll kill you both! I'll KILL YOU!"

He launched himself at Richard, swinging the sledgehammer at his head.

[identity profile] teh-alpha-male.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Richard ignored the dog comments, the barbs wouldn't hurt near as much as that large hammer to his head would. He could feel his beast pulling at him, telling him to let loose and tear this man to pieces, but he held it back. Mostly because Richard wanted to tear this guy apart too, and if he and his beast were in agreement, it would be a bad thing to let it out.

In a blur of superhuman speed, Richard sidestepped the charing attack. Years of super natural battles and pack fights had given his already enhanced reflexes an edge. His leg twitches, eager to deliver a kick to the man's back, but he let the urge pass.

"No killing tonight," Richard said. "Just go now."

[identity profile] beyond-the-room.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Walter only grew more angry at the dog/man. How dare he avoid that attack! Walter wheeled around against, summoning the handgun again and leveling it at Richard.

"I'm afraid it's not your decision," he said, "I guess I'll bury you together."

He fired several times at the man.

[identity profile] teh-alpha-male.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Richard stared at the gun, eyes narrowing slightly. He hadn't even smelled the gun, which was odd. The werewolf hadn't even seen the man draw it either, which meant that it had probably been summoned. Well that was just great. What was next, and ACME anvil from the sky?

He watched the finger close about the trigger and made the decision not to try and dodge the bullets. Richard wasn't quite fast enough to dodge them all anyways. So if he was going to get hit, might as well make it look good.

The bullets slammed into his body and caused him to stumble back a few steps. Just because he could survive being shot didn't mean it didn't hurt like hell.

"That... the best you got?" he asked, straightening himself and looking the man in the eyes. Blood streamed from the wounds but already they were healing themselves. Richard had recovered from a lot worse injuries than that.

"I'm telling you, get out of here," he said again, hoping that being able to take several gunshot wounds and remain standing would convince the man to go elsewhere. "No one is getting buried tonight."

[identity profile] beyond-the-room.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Walter's grin was practically splitting his face as he glared at the man. Dark liquid began to seep from his eyes, nose, and ears. It seemed to emanate from his whole being as he stepped forward.

"You mean I can break you..."

The liquid grew darker and more viscous.

"Cut you up, crush you, fold you..."

Corruption started to spread outward from where the foul liquid pooled at his feet.

"And still come back to do it again? This day is truly a gift from God!"

[identity profile] teh-alpha-male.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
What Richard thought was a fairly good plan actually back fired. It seemed that this other... thing was now even more excited to attack him then before. Well, regeneration wasn't the only thing Richard had going for him.

He was about to charge the man when his opponent started... leaking. That was the only word to describe it. Some black substance started to pour out of his body. He had no idea what it was, but it smelled wrong... very wrong. Richard had to rethink his idea about charging.

"Okay, no more warnings he said. Initially he had hoped to just either scare the man off or buy enough time for Anita to get away. Not that he expected her to leave though, she would never run away from someone that attacked her, even if it was the best thing for her to do.

Looking around for a weapon, Richard found one in a nearby tree. Not as large as some of the others it was about half the size of a man's torso in girth. Gripping it with both hands Richard strained as he ripped the young tree out of the ground. With a burbling growl of rage, he swung it at the leaking man.

[identity profile] beyond-the-room.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
The tree caught Walter in the side, sending him flying through the underbrush. He rolled along the earth when he touched down, tumbling through several bushes before slowing to a stop.

"Not...nice..." he gurgled, rising to his feet. He showed no visible signs of pain as he slowly advanced back toward where his intended victims lay, "When people can't play nice, they need to be punished."

He concentrated as another large object formed in his hand. The machine whirred to life as it became clear that he had a chainsaw.

Richard felt Anita tug at his pant leg and he looked down at her, his heart breaking to see her so battered and beaten. He could feel the rage burble up too, wanting to be unleashed. The beast side of him cried out that someone had done this to his Lupa and needed to be punished. The muscles in his body trembled in anticipation of the fight but the expression on Anita's face told him everything. If she thought they should get out of here then they should definitely get out of here.

With another grunt of effort, Richard threw the tree at the man. At the same instance, he became the transformation. Fur rippled over his body as bone and muscle shifted and reshaped. Fang and claw replaced teeth and nail as he became his half wolf, half human form. For speed and carrying someone, you couldn't beat this form.

It had meant giving into his beast partially, the instincts of the wolf taking over, but if that's what was needed he would do it to save Anita. Flashes of what he had seen in the fountain echoed in his mind but he pushed them away. He effortlessly scooped Anita up and bound away through the forest.
