Summary; The dragon boy and the dragon girl as roommates!
Log;
It had been almost a month. Almost a month since Tyr and Viki had left, and therefore living at the rune shop was almost painful, knowing that what had once been a place bustling with the stars of destiny was now quiet and mostly empty. And after that almost month of living in trees, Xanadu, and a random apartment or two, it would be nice to have a place to call home.
Futch didn't have much to carry, mostly things for Bright, and what he did have he piled into a box, the food for lunch placed carefully on top.
"Shall we then, Bright?" Futch asked and received a cheerful chirp in response.
The walk to the temple was a pleasant one; it was a nice day and there were no curses, so Futch hummed a song to himself while Bright clung to his back and growled not so menacingly at passing birds.

"It's a first aid kit. Pretty useful thing, it has medicine and bandages in case you get hurt. If your finger really hurts, maybe we can put something on it so it will feel better?"
no subject
She considered what he'd said before offering the kit.
"I'd put my name on the door except--say, Futch, can you read?"
no subject
Futch put the first aid kit back in the box and gently shooed Bright away, who was digging around for something to eat.
"Maybe I can help you learn? In the meantime, maybe we can put something on the door that you'd recognize right away?"
no subject
"Where I come from, reading is only taught to very important and intelligent people. Most people can't read.... Ky said he'd teach me, but it would probably be easier if you taught me. That is, if you wouldn't mind...."
She went to a closet and pulled out several types of raw food items, offering a few to Bright, assuming he was hungry.
"I think marking the door is a good idea, though. What do you suggest?"
no subject
Futch smiled fondly when Bright gratefully took the food from Kisara's hands and chirped cheerfully up at her.
"As for something to put on the door, ahhh..." Futch rummaged in his box again and pulled out a piece of paper and a pencil and doodled quickly. "I know that this is something that I'll never forget," Futch said and held up the paper (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y251/liete/SuikoRuneDragon.jpg).

"Thank you.... That's a funny-looking symbol, though," she mused, patting Bright on the head somewhat nervously. "What's it mean?"
no subject
He noticed Kisara's hesitance as she patted Bright on the head and smiled slightly. "Bright's friendly, don't worry. He's been around people his whole life, and he listens to what I tell him, so it's all right."
no subject
"Oh, uh, I just didn't know if I was supposed to touch him, that's all. I'm certain he's very nice...."
She patted the small dragon again, as if to prove it.
"What's... what's your world like, Futch? Or do you not like talking about it? I know you must miss it."
no subject
"But I'll talk about it, if you like. When I was younger, before I found Bright and before my first dragon died, I used to go flying all over the world when I had the free time. My world is really a beautiful place, even though it seems like we're always at war..."
Futch thought about that for a moment. Out of the fifteen years he'd been alive, how many had been spent in true peace? And when he grew up, there was at least one more war he'd inevitably get involved in again.
He shook his head again. "Anyway, there's plenty of lands to see, a nation made up of islands and a grasslands to name a couple. There's dog and cat people who look like animals, but are just like any human. Lizards, ducks and beavers like that, too! And then there's runes, which are what grant us magic, among other things-"
Futch stopped short and laughed nervously. "Now I'm probably talking too much, huh?"
no subject
"No, no, you're not. I like hearing about other worlds, really. Yours sounds wonderful...."
Her eyes went to the still-unpacked box on the floor.
"Oh, do you need help unpacking anything? You can talk all you want about your home in the meantime, if it makes you feel better."
no subject
"What else to say about my world, though? I've been involved in two wars...two gatherings, I suppose. The 108 Stars of Destiny coming together to fight for a common goal... My star is the least star of earth, but I try not to put too much stock into that. Just the fact that I got the chance to fight alongside people like Tyr and Riou was a great honor for me..."
Futch picked up his box from the floor and smiled nervously. "Is there anywhere specific I should put this?"
no subject
"So many wars? Aren't wars terrible, though...? And you're only fifteen--uh, unless that's old enough to fight in your world!"
The last bit she added hastily, worried that he'd think her pretentious for commenting on age.
no subject
"I guess...I am pretty young for that, but I was eleven when I fought in the Gate Rune War, and even before then I was training to be a Dragon Knight, so I've been learning to fight since I was very young, not that that's a good thing... Sadly, I've seen people younger than I am involved in wars, too."
Futch found the bag of food he had brought with him and brought it back over to Kisara.

He turned around and motioned to Bright. "Hey Bright, we'll go play outside, okay?"
no subject
"I guess I'm going to have to get some things for him to play with. Maybe I could figure out how to summon my dragon...."
She turned to the door. "How do you suggest we put your rune on the door?"
no subject
Futch stared at the door for a moment. "Maybe we could carve it on there?"
no subject
"Carve it? With what? Anyway, I suppose I'll spend more time in Xanadu in the future.... Is there anything I can put in here so when he does have to be inside, he won't, er... eat things... or something?"
no subject
Futch laughed. "If anything, he chews on me, but the kind of toys they sell for dogs here seem to entertain him if you'd like."
no subject
"Oh, I don't keep knives in here," Kisara added, shaking her head. "Someone else in the Temple would probably have one, though.... Oh, what about Bright? Does he... uh, breathe fire or something...? If the door is wood, he could burn it maybe...."
She put a hand to her chin, scrutinizing the door thoughtfully.
no subject
"He can breathe fire, but he's not coordinated enough to make a specific marking. Although a charred door might be a marking in itself..."
no subject
"Though, I suppose a burned door would attract too much attention...."
no subject
Though Futch wasn't too keen on the idea, it was probably the best course of action for the moment.

She looked down at Bright, raising her eyebrows questioningly.
"What do you say, Bright?"
no subject
The dragon in question chirped enthusiastically and flapped his wings slightly to accentuate the point.
Futch grinned and looked back up at Kisara. "He doesn't mind at all."
no subject
"That's what I thought."
A soft rumbling sound came from her stomach. Kisara smiled sheepishly.
"Well, let's get this over with. I'm getting hungry...."
