Characters:Sonny and Febronia
Summary:The daemons help their robotic partners to move on in their relationship. Things end well.
Log:
Sonny have seen many things since coming to the place known as the City. But this was the strangest: a talking snow leopard who went by the name Aleone was telling him that she is a daemon,a reflection of his soul. "Sonny,I want us to go to Xanadu!" the leopard pranced around his legs. "Xanadu? Why?" Sonny asked, confused. "Because we need to get out and be out today." Aleone explained. Sonny smiled at her enthusiasm. "Alright." He agreed and both went out of the flat.
"Hmm... what'd you like for dinner today Lutheus?" Febronia inquired in the midst of busying herself in the kitchen. "Can I have the all famous Xanadu cheesecake? Please?" Came Lutheus' request. Febronia smiled at the little mouse, all too willing to oblige its each and every request as per her usual self. "Alright. The Xanadu cheescake it shall be then." Just a quick trip to Xanadu that she needed to make then. Nothing more or less. Right?
Sonny walked and the snow leopard beside him,skipping along. He saw other people with daemons about, so it was a curse, a strange one but harmless. Aleone also reminded him a bit of home,maybe it was because she was a part of him. "Xanadu!" Aleone cried happily as the approached the place, "come on,Sonny,race you!" and with that the snow leopard ran towards the garden. "Aleone,do not run very fast,you may be hurt." Sonny cautioned,but too late,the leopard was gone. With a shake of his head and a small smile,he ran after her
"There we go..." Febronia mumbled softly both to herself as well as to Lutheus who was currently perched upon her right shoulder as she received the box of cheesecake from the sales assistant behind the counter. Now all she had to do was get both Lutheus and herself home and they'll be just in time for dinner. Lutheus however didn't quite share the same train of thought unfortunately, the brown mouse peering this way and that every now and then as the female Realian was making her purchase just awhile ago. Now, where were Aleone and Sonny? If they didn't show up quickly, then all his as well as Aleone's efforts would have been for naught!
Aleone ran and skidded to a halt. The she backtracked. She saw through the shop's window the female robot and her daemon. She got on her hindlegs and put her fromt paws on the window. "Psst!Lutheus!" she whispered and accompanied it by thumping her front paws on her window. Meanwhile,her partner,was running until he saw her next to a shop, her face stuck to the glass. Did she see something interesting there? He went over.
It didn't take Lutheus long to notice the snow white leopard that was Aleone on the other side of the shop window. About time he must say. But first things first, there were more important things at hand than speaking to another fellow daemon about the importance of punctuality. Without so much as a warning or two, Lutheus sniffed the air for a moment before leaping from Febronia's shoulder to scurry quickly out of the shop. "Lutheus?" Febronia asked tentatively, apparantly confused by the mouse daemon's sudden act as she followed suit. Nearly there now...
Aleone saw the mouse coming and lowered her paws to sit in front of the shop, when he ran out,she picked him with her paw and put him on her back. Sonny arrived jus in time to see this bizarre intereaction. "What are you doing?' He asked,confused. "You'll see~" She said, and with what passed for smile on the daemon's face,she ran and jump behind some bushed near the shop and crouched,waiting. "Aleone!" Sonny cried in alarm, but before he could follow someone collided with him.
"Lutheus! Where're yo..." Febronia's speech was cut off prematurely the moment she collided with Sonny who was standing at the shop entrance. "... oh dear. I'm so sorry. I was so engrossed with looking for my friend Lutheus that I wasn't watching out for where I was heading..." The young female began apologizing in a hurry without so much as pausing to take a good look at who it was that she had happened to run into.
"It is fine,I..." But then Sonny's stopped talking as he finally realized who it was that he was holding by the arms to steady. Febronia. All thought about the running daemon washed away. "Oh,hello,Febronia" he greeted.
"S... Sonny?" Febronia blinked once before a look of recognition of the male robot replaced the one of distraught at the runaway mouse daemon that was on it earlier. "H... Hello." Next came her somewhat embarassed greeting as a slight blush could be seen slowly making its presence known on her pale cheeks.
Sonny saw her blush and then her remembered that he was holding her. He immediately let go. "How are you?" He asked,a little embarassed. From the bushes,Aleone whispered to Lutheus,"They won't get anywhere like that. What do you suggest?"
"I... I'm fine. I just came out to buy some cheesecake for Lutheus..." Febronia offered sheepishly as she took a small step back to put a little distance between herself and Sonny. "Y-Yourself?" Came her tentative inquiry awhile later. "Hmm... Feb did say that she was going to prepare dinner after getting me my cheesecake. Why don't we rag them into a nearby restaurant/cafe under the pretense that we're now hungry? Surely that'll help some?" Lutheus whispered back to the snow leopard in reply.
"Unfortunately,Sonny can't eat." Aleone whispered to the mouse,"but yeah,good idea, so instead of them going to a cafe, we get them to Feb's flat and there she can prepare us dinner. We get dinner and those two get alone time." Back with the robots,Sonny answered Febronia's question,"I have been fine. Lutheus? Is he your daemon?" He asked,then he thought about it,"Is he a mouse?"
"Perfect! You're such a genius Aleone!" Lutheus exclaimed excitedly, barely able to contain his excitement at the thought of their plan to bring both their partners together succeeding. "Yes. Lutheus is a mouse but... how? And what's a daemon?" Febronia posed, the confused expression that had been on her face earlier now gradually making a reappearance at the same instant.
"Of course I am~" Aleone said smugly,"whoops! Sonny put 2 and 2 together. Time to go?" She asked her companion. Meanwhile, Sonny explained the whole daemon business to Febronia,"Deamon is a reflection of your soul. A daemon is an animal who talks. You will feel very close to it." Then he went on to explain the other part,"My daemon, Aleone is a snow leopard, she picked up a mouse,put it on her back and went behind those bushes." and with his head he pointed towards it.
"... if only your partner is half as smart as you with regards to relationships. Perhaps we wouldn't have to work so hard at trying to bring the both of them together now." Lutheus complained good-naturedly as he gave a nod of his tiny head in ascension to Aleone's proposal. "Let's go Aleone. My cheesecake awaits!" Tilting her head to the side a little, Febronia glanced at the bushes that Sonny had pointed to as she mulled over all the things that the robot had just informed her about. Yet another curse of the City? It certainly seemed to be so from the looks of it. "So... that means that Lutheus will disappear when the clock strikes 12 this evening?" Febronia asked quietly, a solemn expression on her face now.
"Yes..." Sonny said,a little sadly. He liked Aleone. The said snow leopard came jumping from the bushes,a mouse on her back. "Hey,Sonny," she greeted her partner then turned to the female robot,"Hey,Febronia,nice to meet you." And then,before anyone could do anything,she quickly said,"Lutheus and I are starving! He said you'll make him dinner,could you make one for me too?" and with that,she gave her best kitty-eyes look.
Febronia could almost feel her heart sink at Sonny's reaffirmation with regards to their respective daemons being a transient existence that would only last no more than 24 hours. It was like what the male robot had said earlier. Lutheus and her shared a bond. She felt like she knew that right from the start the moment she set her eyes on the talking brown mouse that very morning in fact. She was going to miss Lutheus when he's gone. That, she was painfully aware of at the very least at this point in time. Smiling down at the female snow leopard, Febronia nodded her head just once to indicate her agreement to Aleone's request. "You must be Aleone. Sonny was telling me all about you and Lutheus." She would cook the best dinner the two of them have ever tasted as a farewell gift for them then. "What would you like to have for dinner then?"

Sonny was sitting in Febronia's flat's living room,looking around. He could hear the sounds of Aleone and Lutheus from the kitchen and also the voice of Febronia. Febronia...she was like him,in a way. He liked very much and she was a good friend. Then why did he feel that it was not all there was to it?
Now that she had gotten both Aleone and Lutheus somewhat settled with a dinner that even she herself was proud of, Febronia found her attention drawn towards Sonny now. It was really a pity that the male robot didn't require food as a source of sustinence unlike herself, otherwise he could have joined them all at the table. Nevertheless, Febronia would never allow anyone to feel left out in any situation. Being alone was never a good experience, having being through it herself many a time in the past. "Hmm... penny for your thoughts?" Febronia offered gently as she approached Sonny slowly from behind.
"Penny...for my thoughts?" Sonny asked,very confused. Detective Spooner tried to teach him slang,and he even got some of them,but still he needed to learn. "Is this slang?" he wanted confirmation to his suspicions.
"Y-Yes..." The young female halted her advance now, a mere step behind the sofa that Sonny was currently seated in. "... it's just another way to ask someone what they're thinking about..." She offered next in a soft tone.
"Oh." Sonny said, "I am thinking about you." He was never taught to lie, or cover up what you say. He learned from Detective Spooner that to act is not actually lying,and he used it,but generally, he always told the truth.
"... me?" She couldn't help the blush that was burning her cheeks with an even greater intensity than before now. She knew that she was reacting to something. Even if she wasn't very well aware of what that something was right now. All Febronia knew was that she liked being with Sonny. He understood her, knew what she went through in the past. It was perhaps this knowledge that led her naturally to do what she did next when she would choose not to pursue what he had said further. "What is it regarding, Sonny..?"
"You." Sonny confirmed and saw her blush. He liked to see her blush,it brought more color to her cheeks and she looked even more pretty than usual...what? What is he thinking? He talked to distract himself from his thoughts, "I thought about how you are my friend and that I like you and I like to speak to you because you understand what I have been through,but..." and then he averted his eyes from her gaze,not wanting to hurt her feelings if didn't feel the same about him as he is about her.
Febronia nodded slowly as she listened to Sonny speak, somewhat innately relieved to know that her thoughts and feelings with regards to him were returned somewhat. If not, then... what? Febronia didn't know either. However, it was with great trepedition that she decided to probe further with regards to the rationale behind his use of the word 'but' in the latter part of his speech, a little not too sure now if it would lead to something that she didn't want to hear. Still, a part of her wanted to know...
Since there was silence that stretched and stretched,Sonny eventually looked back at Febronia and spoke,"but...I feel different with you. You are my friend,that is true,but there is something more to it." He finally mustered the courage and took one of her hands into her own
She did not tug her hand away when he took hold of it, instead feeling a little more at ease at the gesture in light of the situation that the both of them had suddenly been thrust into without warning. "I... like you too, Sonny." Febronia offered tentatively as she gave his hand a tiny squeeze for the briefest of moments, now beginning to somewhat comprehend what the male robot was going through. There was something else... something that she was aware of yet couldn't exactly put a finger on. What was it?
"I think...I think that this something different is the same way I felt during the curse,last week." Sonny said and smiled,finally he said,"I think I love you." And now he has to wait, Good news or bad ones?
... oh. Febronia felt her breath catch a little as she allowed her mind to slowly process what Sonny had just told her. So it was something as simple as that huh? It made her feel so... silly. To be baffled by something as simple as that. Yet, she couldn't help but feel somewhat... relieved that things had turned out this way. Or maybe what she was feeling now was something more akin to happiness instead? Smiling sheepishly, Febronia nodded once before giving his hand yet another squeeze. "I... I think that you're not alone either..."
He is not? "I am..not?" He asked, a little shocked. Back at the kitchen,Aleone finished her dinner and went to eavesdrop on the conversation. Exactly at the moment Sonny confessed his love, she whispered hurriedly to the mouse, "Lutheus! Lutheus! come quick!"
Closing her eyes for the briefest of moments, Febronia smiled and shook her head slowly. "You're not Sonny..." Upon hearing the snow leopard call for him, Lutheus scurried quickly over to Aleone's side, equally excited at what she had to say about the recent events. "What happened Aleone?"
Sonny slowly took this in and said,"Then you...love...me?" He tried to hide the tone of hope in his voice,but he thought he didn't do a good job with it. Back with daemon,Aleone whispered excitedly,"He confessed! He confessed that he loves Feb and Feb is confessing in return!"
She opened her eyes to look at Sonny upon hearing his question, noting the glimmer of hope that seemed to light up his eyes. Was she ready for this? Was he? "Y-Yes..." Perhaps the only way to seek the answers to these questions was through time and experience. "Really?" Lutheus almost couldn't believe his ears when Aleone shared with him the latest development in their plans to bring their partners together. This was really going way better than what they had originally intended! "That's great Aleone! We've done it!"
Yes. She said yes. She loved him. "You love me." He said it aloud to actually confirm it. "You love me!" He said again when the truth finally sank in. He smiled and a little shyly,bended down to gently kiss. Back in the kitchen,Aleone practically jumped up and down from happiness as she said to Lutheus, "Yeah,we did! We did! Our presence was not in vain! Yay!"
