Summary; Ninelives is bored. Vash needs a little action. Let's spar?
Log;
Vash eyed the dark waves from the beach in silence as he waited for Ninelives to show up. He was pretty sure he'd get in trouble for this if certain people found out, but heck, Ninelives was bored, he was restless, and there were worse things the Gung-Ho Gun could do to shake his cabin fever. Plus, Vash had to admit that he needed to blow off a little steam by doing... something. A good old-fashioned chase sounded like it could be fun. And, though it would be nearly impossible to get him to confess the fact, he wanted his own special brand of revenge for that whole "beating the hell out of and killing Wolfwood" thing. Running the guy in circles and generally infuriating him seemed to be a good way to do that.

The calm sound of the lapping waves was soon broken by the heavy footfalls of the warrior titan belonging to the Gung-Ho Guns. Vash's offer had piqued the interest of the Nine, especially since they had nothing better to do. If anything, the 'game' the Plant had proposed would be a good way for them to work on their reflexes within the massive suit. A heavy, hissing sigh escaped Ninelives once he stopped, in effect signalling he was ready to begin.

Vash's eyes flicked over to look at the giant form standing a short distance away and simply glared at him for a few seconds.

"Yo," he said simply. The greeting had barely passed his lips when he drew his gun and fired at one of Ninelives' fists, springing to the side like a cat. Going on the offensive was hardly in Vash's normal nature, but he knew all too well how durable that suit was, so he was hardly worried about hurting his opponent. And anyway, he was still a bit sore about things.

~*~

The titan didn't even so much as flinch when the bullet penetrated his fist. The wound was given a cursoury glance before he lunged into motion, Ninelives' massive stride allowing him to easily close the gap between himself and Vash, a gargantuan fist slamming down once he was within striking range. Oh, how he wished for his cannon gloves right now.

~*~

Vash swiftly changed directions and narrowly avoided the massive fist before sliding between Ninelives' legs, hooking his arm around a calf and swinging around to give himself a well-powered running start off to the giant's left. He paused and waved his firearm at Ninelives a bit condescendingly.

"Come on, big guy, try again," he said in a tone that bordered on both dangerous and teasing.

~*~

Ninelives could only blink as he felt Vash weave around and about his legs, bald head cocking to lock his gaze on Vash, his empty eyes narrowing. So it really was just a game to him. Yanking his fist out of the sand, the titan hurtled himself forward again, this time by taking a flying leap into the air and raising his fists over his head. Even if the blow did not connect, the sheer shockwave from something so large hitting the ground could be equated to a small bomb going off.

Not waiting to see if the attack connected or not, Ninelives' fists swung about in a large arc to allow him to stand up straight.

~*~

Vash's eyes widened and he leapt out of the way, but he couldn't move fast enough to get away from the aftershock of the giant's attack. He staggered and whipped his revolver around to fire three shots at Ninelives' shoulder as he tumbled to the ground. Not wanting to stay on his back, he rolled out of the way clumsily and began scrambling to his feet, wondering if it was a bit too late for that.

~*~

The small rounds did little to phase Ninelives as his body twisted about, a massive fist slamming down into the sand where Vash had been only moments before. Not intending to let his target escape so unscathed, the titan's body twisted again as his other fist came down hard.

~*~

On impulse, Vash threw up his left arm to try and soften the blow and winced as it crumpled before the fist slammed into his chest. Well, great. Now he'd need a new arm. He just hoped the Underground would have a place where he could get one just like it.

He quickly yanked his mind back to the present and forced himself to ignore the throbbing pain of his most likely cracked ribs. He fired at Ninelives' "eye" and wriggled free, his left arm hanging practically useless at his side. Yep. Definitely needed a new one. Crap.

~*~

The titan seemed to sneer with his grotesque mouth even as the bullet pierced his eye. The Stampede was quick, but not quick enough.

"Let us remove that for you." Still within striking range, Ninelives' hand snapped up to take hold of Vash's now useless arm, intending to rip it clear off his body. And possibly fling Vash through the air at the same time. It'd be a nice added bonus.

~*~

"...Oops," Vash said dumbly as Ninelives grabbed his arm. Thinking quickly, he turned his last bullet on the outlet that connected what was left of his real arm to the prosthetic. The arm came off easily at Ninelives' pull and Vash darted out of the way, reloading his gun. He was nothing if not resourceful.

Once he had reloaded, he turned the weapon on the giant again and fired at his knees. This was certainly turning out to be even more interesting than he had anticipated.

~*~

Left with nothing but a flimsy piece of cybernetics in his hand, Ninelives cast it aside without a second thought, as it was no use to the Stampede anymore.

Grunting as the bullets ripped into his knees, he shifted and swung one leg around in a low roundhouse kick, using the momentum from the kick to drive another punch at Vash.

~*~

Vash swore silently and fired at Ninelives aimlessly, using the recoil to help him jump back and away from the blows. He landed on his back and did a backwards somersault to end back on his feet in a crouched position.

"Still bored?" he asked, tense and ready to move again.

~*~

"No." came Ninelives' reply, to which he did not miss a beat in his attack.

Yanking one fist out of the sand, he used the other to help propel him forward, his head ducking down to tuck his body up, the titan preforming an odd tuck-and-roll maneuver, his feet landing just in front of Vash. Straightening up, Ninelives' leaned in close to the Plant and growled, revealing his lipless, contorted mouth.

~*~

"You know," Vash said, cocking an eyebrow and letting a smile play about his lips, "They have operations they can perform to make you look more appealing to the ladies."

Not waiting for a response, the Plant darted around Ninelives and sprinted over to his arm, grabbing it and tucking it under his arm after holstering his weapon.

"But seeing as I've given you something to do, I think I'll be on my way now~ Good game, Ninelives! I had fun!"

~*~

Vash's sudden change of mood confused the Gung-Ho Gun, who was blinking repeatedly as he turned around to stare at the Plant. "...Fun? I... We had fun, as well."

An interesting revelation for the Nine, as real as the game of chase had been, they had thuroughly enjoyed themselves. They'd also proven to themselves they could combat Vash when he was not using his power.

~*~

"I'm glad," Vash said, flicking his hand to the side in a wave. "See you around, huh? Say hi to Knives and the rest of the gang for me."

And with that, Vash passively started back on his way to his apartment. He had a feeling Ninelives wouldn't attack him again, but that didn't stop him from resting his hand on his revolver. One could never be too careful...

~*~

Giving only a nod to Vash's words, he made no move to continue the game. Straightening up, the titan made his way back off the way he came, planning to return to the Ark II. The Nine had some things to contemplate.
