crete_goddess, Morpheus

mildlyreckless

Log;
...Suddenly, the air was cool. There was something wrapped about her, but it wasn't warm, strong arms...but blankets. Ananova's eyes cracked open in the darkened room..and she cursed under her breath.
A dream.
It had all been yet another dream. It had felt so real, and so...bloody true...she rolled lightly to her side with a small moan, and weakly hit the pillow beside her head. It was enough to make her weep. Bitterly. With a pained sigh, she tried to close her eyes to it. Perhaps if she calmed down enough and fell asleep again, she would catch another glimpse of her King of Dreams...

But, move he did; going from leaning over Ananova, to sitting upright on her side of the bed.
She had called him in her sleep, and that was enough to gain him not only entry into the City, but to bring him to her side.
Comical that such a declaration in dreams resulted in a near-miss in the waking world, and the former Dream King having to scramble out of a sleeping Sultana's reach.
" Ananova?...." He called, uncertain if she knew he was there.
" Ananova, don't cry..."

Ananova was quite sure she was still...awake. And..the voice she so craved in her dreams seemed to be right next to her...
Sleepily, she lifted her head.
Half-expecting to find nothing but the wall of the bedroom, there was a black-clad figure next to her. Startled, she jumped, and near sat up, until she met with eyes full of stars and nebulae...
For a moment, all she could do was stare.
All reason and propriety seemed to have abandoned her, and she just blatantly stared, mouth agape, tired eyes unblinking...until her tongue willed to move again..
"...Morpheus..?"

Seeing her like this; sleep-tousled and shocked was rather...interesting...considering she was generally so conscious of herself otherwise.
He couldn't help the smile at her disheveled state, nor the fractional nod toward her in assurance.
"I said that you could call for me." Morpheus replied,His voices' echoing strangeness carrying over from dreams, to the waking world.
To help validate that this was real, and not her dream, the former Dream King reached out to push a lock of her hair away from her eyes. He was growing rather fond of the way her hair trailed through his fingers...

And yet, his fingers trailed so gently across her face...Ananova could feel them...
All at once, reality came crashing down. He was there, honestly and truly there, making an imprint in her bedsheets, and gazing with those galactic eyes--
Who's so say what caused it, honestly, perhaps a hidden lapse in better judgment, but with a cry, Ananova thrust herself out of her sheets, and into Morpheus's arms so forcefully, they may have fallen off the bed.
Her voice was shrill--and loud--somewhat desperate, and pained, leaking tears. For too long had the Princess only seen him in dreams, too long had she woken up alone with the remnants of an imaginary time together.
Formality be damned. She was far too happy to see him...

Reflexively, he did catch her, but in the split second allowed, it seemed the better idea to fall with her, than not.
And so, in a tangle of blankets, a somewhat bewildered Morpheus offered the princess an amused ( and relieved) smile.
She was crying, and grinning ecstatically....she was beautiful, and it felt curiously comfortable to be practically flat on his back with her wrapped around him.
"Please don't cry..." Morpheus tried again. He was smiling as well, but it still seemed so wrong that he was the reason for her sadness....if this could be called sadness?

What was that?!
Then every possible reason hit him at once. She was having a bad dream. She had tumbled out of bed and hurt herself. Something had startled her from the window. Someone had come through the window. That blue-haired psychopath had come through the window! Said blue-haired psychopath was now inside and hurting her!!
All of this took about an eight-thousandth of a second before he was up and bolting for Tessla's room, the one he had lent to Ananova, right arm itching with suppressed defenses and left arm ready to flip into something far less harmless.
"Princess!" he yelled, bursting into the room and seeing her gone from the bed.
She had one second to respond before he started really flipping out.

Ananova screamed again, startled, and clutched Morpheus like a vice. Looking up, she saw...a rather frightening figure of Vash in the doorway. She had never before seen him in such a way, and her hand flew into the air for his attention.
"Vash--! I'm fine, it's--all right!"
It was then she noticed the rather...unflattering position she was in, on top of Morpheus, the object of her affection--and Vash very well knew this fact--sprawled on the floor, in a mess of sheets. Her cheeks burned.
..Oh, dear.

First; consider a rather upset Sultana. This in itself was hardly Morpheus' intent upon returning. Tears were not positive things in his experience with mortal women.
Second; consider the fact she was not in her apartment. This should have a perfectly innocent explanation, but it is easy to see why the former Dream King would draw hasty conclusions given the ensuing events.
Third; It was as reflexive as catching her had been to get out of such a prone position and to place himself between Ananova and the vaguely familiar dark-haired man.
Hasty conclusions could have been disastrous considering Morpheus was ready to spirit the Sultana away and leave this crazed gunman cursed with Eternal Waking.
It was Ananova calling this man by name that gave Morpheus pause, and brought more surprise ( not to mention the threat of proud anger) to those strange black eyes.
What a scene:
Ananova, tangled in her bed clothes, and now being held bodily by a strange ( and strange looking) man. Morpheus, caught looking like a fretful porcupine with black hair further askew than it usually was, and about to step into an obliging shadow, taking the Sultana; sheets and all.
And Vash....ready to shoot it if it looked vaguely blue-haired.....

Vash didn't give himself time to thank anyone. As his brain translated the image that was being projected into his eyeballs, the visible relief that made him sag shot away like lightning and left a snap of horror and embarrassment.
"I AM SO SORRY," he yelped, hands flinging to his eyes as he staggered backwards, intending to fall back into the other room and pull the door shut on his way, but miscalculating in a moment of blind horror and catching his foot on the door that was supposed to barricade him against the scene.
Traitor door! I'll see you in hell!
As he mentally projected his hatred towards the object, he toppled backwards and did the one thing he knew he was good at.
He babbled.
"IjustheardayellandIgotworriedbecauseI'vegotsomebadpeopleaftermesometimesandIreallydidn'tseeanythingandIreallydon'tmindifyouDOdoanythingbutjustpleasedon'tdoitonmysister'sbed!!!"
The door finally shut.
"I-I'm very glad for you, Princess!"
Vash then flopped back on the floor and began questioning his life. Again. For perhaps the fourth time in a week? Yeah, that sounded about right.

Ananova could have just died. If not from embarrassment and shame, then from the slowly churning amusement in her stomach. Well...-that- certainly did them a turn. She lowered her hand--and looked down at Morpheus.
She was sure her reddened face was glowing in the darkness. She was still very much spread upon the floor, tangled mercilessly with him...and he was still holding her rather securely.
"..You remember Vash?" She lamely offered. She owed the poor humanoid typhoon an explanation...not to mention explaining what she was doing there in the first place to Morpheus.

Poor Morpheus. From surprised, to confusion, to startled, back to confused.
...He hadn't even been in the City for a full ten minutes.
Perhaps expression was different for someone who seemed to often lack conventional iris or pupil, and thus the former Dreamlord had been accused of being deadpan in expression before.
No one would accuse him thus now.
He rather looked like he'd been hit over the head.
Ananova's eyes refused to come back up to his, and she was turning an interesting shade of scarlet....
....And for some reason nearly entirely unknown to him, Morpheus started to laugh.
All told, his laugh could be considered odd, since it was very, very rare, and to most may sound like more of a mixture of many different voices, and tones laughing simultaneously.
no subject
And she started to laugh right along with him. She lowered her head a little to him, echoing his laughter...and it felt wonderful.
It really was quite funny...awful, but..idly she swiped part of her disheveled hair back, giving him a bright, ever-fond smile..
"..Morpheus.."
