When; August 8th
Rating; G
Characters; Dietrich von Lohengrin (
evilsincebirth) & Yuuki Cross
crossguardian
Summary; Dietrich and Yuuki meet at Cafe Juliet.
Log;
Despite having only arrived here a few days ago, Yuuki had found her way to the cafe reasonably easily. The trip was still undeniably nerve-wracking for the girl, as she had yet to get used to the idea of being so far from normality and from...them. She glanced around the cafe for a moment, hoping to catch sight of Dietrich.
((Sorry for the wait. @_@; *got caught up in something*))

"It's nice to meet you, Dietrich-san!"
no subject
"Likewise, Miss Yuuki. How is this place treating you?"
He offered her a closed menu and motioned a waitress to aproach. "I just ordered an Expresso moments your arrival."
no subject
"The city hasn't been too terrible to me... I guess I was lucky enough to escape the last curse?"
Yuuki paused as she placed an order with the with the cafe waitress.
"I can't believe there are so many worlds out there outside my own! If it's okay to ask...what's your world like, Dietrich-san?"
no subject
The Puppet Master listened patiently, features gentle and projecting a deceptive goodness he never possessed. "My world?" he asked with sadness. "Most of my world was destroyed long ago and what is left is torn between a racial conflict and ruled with a corrupted system of power hungry aristocrats. It truly ashames me I was born in one of those families. What about yours?"
no subject
"My world has problems too... We also have racial problems, though most people in mine are unaware of them. I doubt it's the same type of racial problem, however."
no subject
Mmm~~
Dietrich was thoughtful almost distraught by the seriousness of the topic they were discussing, listening with solemn respect and only absently acknowledging the waitress when she delivered the orders.
"Thank you, Miss Yuuki. But you wouldn't say the same if you met my cousin," he remarked. "How can there be racial problems and remain unaware of them simultaneously?"
He picked up the cup, waiting for her answer before giving it a sip.

Yuuki had been clearly taught to keep the existence of vampires a secret, yet this situation was different. Deitrich was of another world, thus his knowledge wouldn't effect the happenings of her own, right? Conflicted, she continued to speak, hoping that Dietrich would be content with another vague response.
"I don't think people in my world are ready to know. One day they will be, but for now, it would cause chaos. I only know about this race because of an accident, otherwise I'd be as clueless as everyone else!"
no subject
"Look at this City, full of werewolves, angels, demons, vampires, aliens, gods and other creatures. You seem to need someone to speak about this secret. Was it a heavy burden to carry with it all this time?" The Puppetmaster smiled with shameless honesty, offering Yuuki a supple green apple from the bowl as himself chose a bright, red one to eat without peeling.
He nodded. "In my experience they don't mind out soon by means you can control. It might be revealed by ways you don't. That will be chaotic."

Yuuki graciously took the apple from Dietrich, thanking him silently with a slight nod. She fingered it gently, staring at the fruit as she figured out how to word her response. How could she tell someone that she goes to school with vampires? It would probably seem entirely ridiculous.
"Where I come from, vampires exist as a whole society upon its own. They even have their own government and social structure," Yuuki continued to gaze nervously at the apple as she continued to speak, "I attend a school where vampires and humans coexist, though the latter are unaware of it. It's actually my job to protect the secret of the Night class."
no subject
"I don't think I believe in coincidences, Miss Yuuki," he mentioned, trying to smile in melancholy. "The two species that are in conflict in my world are humans and vampires too. They call themselves Methuselah."
no subject
"Do the humans in your world know that these va--Methuselah exist, and do they manage to coexist with them without fighting?"
no subject
He sighed, taking a bite of his red apple. "The tensions and old resentment are always present."

Her nails pressed into the skin of the apple,half-moon shaped imperfections marring the once-perfect fruit. She did it absentmindedly, perhaps driven by her slight feeling of unease at addressing this topic.
"I know that vampires and vampire hunters have been at war throughout the history of my world, but I seldom hear about vampires attacking humans...other than Level E vampires," Yuuki raised her head to meet the man's gaze, "I don't know everything about vampires in my world, of course! When I think about it, I really don't know much at all."
no subject
He released her and took a deep breath. "Some of the Methuselah do. The ones who live in the Empire have forbidden such practice. But they consume hemoglobin capsules that were made of human beings. In a way, it's the same, don't you agree? Because they didn't take the blood from the source doesn't mean people won't die sometimes for the sake of feeding them."

Yuuki smiled, taking a bite of the apple, "I just need to ask Ze--"
Zero-kun isn't here...
no subject
"Would you, Miss Yuuki?" he asked. "I could test it with a friend here if you are willing to give me a sample."
no subject
"You're not the only one from your world in The City," she inquired, tilting her head to the side in curiosity.
