Log: Ongoing
When; After Tia and Jack discuss Jones' arrival (log not posted yet), but before Norrington runs off like a fool to meet with Jones (log not completed - what? We're the motherfuckin' PotC crew, we don't need no stinking continuity!).
Rating; PG-13? Will edit as needed.
Characters; Tia Dalma (
tiaxdalma) and Sheldon Sands (
blind_shot)
Summary; Tia finally gets around to her promised visit.
Log;
It was a little before dusk when Tia set out, leaving Jack to skulk about his ship and worry over his hand - but she couldn't have him becoming too dependent on her company. That sort of thing lead to terrible, terrible problems. She put a few things in her bag, wrapped a black lace shawl about her, and began the short walk to the building where the man Sands resided. She blended in well with the natives of the city, and its existence pleased her. She found it relaxing and enchanting - or would, if there was not a great evil lurking in it, now. Unlike others, she had no real concern with the supposed End of Days that they were here to stop - she stepped in and out of this place at will, and (perhaps foolishly) took its power for granter. It occurred to her that this might come to haunt her, but now was not the time for such thoughts.
Tia found the apartment, and stood outside, knocking twice. She wondered if any of the companions would be with him at this hour, and if he would tolerate their company long with hers. Tia was vaguely interested in the death god that had befriended her familiar band of ruffians, but the others, she knew little about. As long as the corpse not be with him, she thought... and waited.

"Er.. Good afternoon." He said, politely, opening the door wide and sliding carefully around Tia out of the apartment. This a little more loudly: "You'll be here to see Sands, I suppose. I'll leave the two of you in peace."
With a glance back into the apartment, he muttered at a level only Tia could hear. "Thank God you came. The man's driving me up the mainmast with his incessant demands." He shook his hand and mouthed "He's INSANE" at her. This again loudly. "I'll speak to you later."
Then he scarpered before Sands could call him back.
[[ooc: Just getting him out of your way, Claire. :P]]

"Tia?"
The agent leans over as much as he can in a habit to see the door. It will take him years to stop doing these things.
"Don't you let the cat out, Norrington!"
Unknown to him James has already high tailed it out of there.

As if on cue, a fluffy white cat romped up to her and twined about her legs. Cats were partly unnatural creatures as it was, and always recognized the people who dabbled in all of their worlds. She scooped it up and whispered to it in Creole, petting it's hair. "What you be doing to this creature?" she asked, arching an eyebrow at Sands. She moved over to sit down next to him, and set the cat on its way. "It be I," she said, and reached out to touch Sands' hand. "Jack seem to run you through awful bad, but the death god see to you well. Good."

Being touched suddenly will startle him at times. But it's rare he shows it and doesn't mind Tia doing it.
"You should talk to your boyfriend about playing with sharp objects. I'll have a scar you know."
Sheldon sounds pouty and offended but he doesn't really care.

When she translates for the cat he laughs.
"He? He farts in his sleep." Sands had no idea what sex the cat was. He was respecting it's privacy. And the farting thing is untrue.

"So, Agent," he said, the modern word sounding odd coming from her, "Tell me what you seek."
no subject
"Right now I seek an ashtray. After that a way out. But that's not what I wanted you for. Although if you can get me that ashtray..."
no subject
"You curious about what I know."
no subject
"I am."

"The fabric of life we all built with be as different and varying as the stars in the sky," she said, "but sometime, a thread appear more than once. Not like in families - no, that be a great many threads, all in a pattern. No, I speak of some threads that be identical. I see you so easy because a part of you be known to me."
no subject
"I bet I know what part too." Despite Sands' rude mocking he's listening very closely and understanding. He doesn't have the deep respect and mommy issues Jack does with Tia but it wont take her long to earn (the respect at least).
He takes out a black cloth that he ties as a blind fold and leans his head back on the pillows. Sands is hiding.
"How many are there?"
no subject
"You more connected to each other than some," she said. "It be strange, because of the difference in time. Not just the thread that put together your face, but.. your temperament. Jealousy..." she trailed off, fingertips tracing little patterns on his forehead.

Becoming hostile as soon as he's sexually turned on (Rangiku has felt the brunt end of this many times already) Sands face becomes a blank mask as his thoughts recede in the silence.
After a long moment he speaks.
"Don't touch me."
no subject
"There be a day you not shun such things," she said, sitting close to him, but not quite touching. "You become too weak with your injury. You not need be. I see how you survive... you not so handicapped as you say. What you be wanting? Something. Affection, love? You be wanting something but you be pushing it away."
no subject
"I'm the villain in this story. We don't fall in love." He wants her to leave. To go away. Sands doesn't understand how Jack could stand this. Maybe because the pirate always knows what he wants. It's a simple thing for him. Sands has no clue what he needs or wants. Everything he does is one piece in a huge jigsaw. And when it's over- when that good piece of pork is taken out or the cia sends him somewhere else he starts over. That's it. Now he has a life of his own and is without a single notion of what he wants it to be. But these questions are getting on his nerves.
"What do you want? Bookends? Will you dread my hair and have us flank each side petting us? I'm not your fucking pet."

Tia stood, and went to his kitchen, preparing something unknown and humming to herself. The cat meowed loudly at her and she chuckled softly at it, as if they were holding a conversation.
"I not want another of one," she said, returning. "I not want anything from you. I be here because you call out for me in pain, in sadness, then when I here you cry like a child and push me away." She set a tiny bowl of something near him with no explanation.
"I go now. You spend your days hiding, that be fine. Just do not seek my help if you be biting at my hand when I move to you."
no subject
Angry at the cat for seeming to fink on him the whole time as well. Fucking rat.
He chew on the inside of his cheeks keeping words in until he has the right ones and the correct tone.
"I'm sorry. Don't leave." The 'just don't touch me again' goes unsaid.
no subject
"What you be wanting from me?"
no subject
Sure affection is something too. But it's too soon for that. From anyone.
Finally with a grin he shrugs.
"I guess I just wanted to make Jack jealous."
El, the cat comes back to sit and watch Tia. The woman seems to be leaving and that's too bad. El likes her. What's more she even listens and the other one doesn't seem to understand anything he says.
After she leaves El plops down on the floor with a sigh and goes back to sleep until Sands throws a toy at her for attention five minutes later.
