Log;

Rubedo had just prepared himself for an early demise along with the rest of the crew outside the Ormus Stronghold when a bright light blinded him. Had that been the explosion? Was he dead? He had hoped to at least protect MOMO... He had promised, after all.

"Damnit!"

Wait, what? He could speak? He could swear! Definitely not Heaven.

With a flinch, Rubedo opened his startled blue eyes to see...something very sharp coming down at him. With a strangled yell of panic, he rolled to get away, only to fall right off the hospital bed and onto the floor with a thump. He was quickly on his feet and running out of the room, though, the crazy masked guy with the scalpel yelling after him. Rubedo couldn't understand him, though, and didn't want to.

"What's going on? MOMO! Shion? Gaignun!" He skidded to a stop at an elevator, pressing the down button. Where was he?! Had they been saved? That was NOT the Elsa's infirmary, and definitely not the Durandal's.

When the elevator door opened, he shot in and slammed his palm against the close doors button, turning to see the crazed doctor walking quickly towards him, yelling something about a special experiment. Rubedo found himself holding his breath as the doors closed, and he felt safe again.

...For the moment.

"Damnit, I'm not in Heaven... I'm in Hell!"

Almost a week in this behemoth of a city and Gaignun was still having a hard time adjusting. There were too many strange people and too much going on at once for him to take in. He also didn't have the resources or the vantage point to find his bearings at all. And now, his attention had been seized by a sensation that he had forgotten since his arrival. It left him with a restlessness he couldn't shake and an abject terror that settled in when he felt the tentative sweep of panic brush across the mind link. When his brother panicked like that, more often than not, it meant he needed some sort of back up and fast. God only knew what sort of insane things were happening on the other end of the link, but Gaignun wasn't about to let them play out.

"Jr.!"

He shoved through the hoards of bodies without any idea of where he was going and all he had to work from was a frustratingly faint pull in Jr.'s general direction. He considered dropping a note on the network, but decided against it. It would take too long to get a description down and even then, there was too high a risk of mistaken identity. It meant it had to be Gaignun who hunted Jr. down. Just like old times. Out of desperation, he tried calling out to his brother through the weakened mental link, "Jr., I'm coming to find you. Where are you right now?" He listened, but didn't bother stopping to wait for a response. There was no time for that. With that, Gaignun broke out into as much of a run as he could manage through the crowds.

A... scalpel? Gaignun couldn't recall any building that even loosely resembled a hospital. Which also meant that the lead he had just received was meaningless to him. "If at all possible, try to get outside. We'll talk later." He figured that Jr. would have enough sense to do at least that, but just to be safe. He did recall his brother having a tendency to lose his senses when riled up after all.

Gaignun followed his own gut instinct and eventually came to a rundown looking building. While he knew better than to doubt his senses, he second guessed them now, simply because he'd assumed that it the inside would be no different than the outside--broken down, rotting, and all around forgotten. He took a moment to deliberate and catch his breath before glancing behind him once more. There wasn't any other place his link was telling him to go. He planed a hand on the door handle, bracing himself for whatever may be inside (which couldn't be good, considering) when the doors burst open and his elder sibling slunk out through the doorway.

That was certainly unexpected.

After a brief pause, Gaignun spoke up, "Jr.? Are you all right?"

Gaignun took a step back when he had the gun shoved in his face so as to not accidentally provoke his brother into shooting. Still, it was good to see a familiar face, especially now after all that chaos.

"Calm down," it was also good to see that fire too, as unnerving as it was sometimes. "You can save your kicking for some other time; we have more important things to worry about. I hate to say it, but I'm not entirely sure where we are. What happened to the others?"

[identity profile] ofrevolutions.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Gaignun hated to sugarcoat anything like he was about to, but Jr. really, really needed to regain his composure and relax. Otherwise, the conversation would just keep going in circles. "If KOS-MOS is with them, they're probably all right."

He shook his head, "No. I sent Mary to take the Durandal and back you up in case anything went wrong. As for me, I'm really not certain. The last thing I remember was--" the last thing he remembered! Of course! How could that slip his mind? "Our father."

Dr. Yuriev terrified Gaignun, and he couldn't explain why if he was ever asked. He'd even learned to expect the worst whenever his father was involved. It wasn't exactly comforting to have Jr. calling him mad, either.

This was going to sound ridiculous, "the last thing I recall before waking up here was his voice, far too real to be merely a recollection. I've been trying to figure out what happened in between, but it's strange." He trailed off and thought about it for a moment, wondering what implications that brought. he hadn't heard it again after that, though. Now wasn't a good time, anyways. "It might just be me. First and foremost, are you all right?"

Gaignun raised an eyebrow at his brother and smirked. Ever the smart mouth, wasn't he?

It's possible. Gaignun peered inside, completely ignoring Jr.'s question and determined to stand by the fact that now simply wasn't the time. He would be running in completely unarmed, which was likely to be a problem. More important, however, was the safety of their companions. Alright. Be careful, and don't do anything reckless. He stepped inside and was relieved to find nothing too out of the ordinary. On the other hand, it could mean the ugly stuff was inside waiting.

Gaignun frowned. There was that headache again.

After searching the floors he was assigned to, Gaignun was deeply sorry for what he found (or rather, didn't). He waited in front of the entrance to the lab, wondering if it was possible that he should have looked harder. Still, he reminded himself, they weren't helpless. They could handle themselves until they reunited.

Jr., there was nothing there. I'm back by the entrance. What's your situation?

[identity profile] ofrevolutions.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Agreed." He mentally laid out all the locations he had gotten to know in his time in the city. Logic didn't seem to apply much in this city, but it was all he had to work with. "We should probably head up to the city square. It's quite populated, so the others might have ended up there in search of help. Conversely, you must be tired. Do you need to rest?"

"This would be the 6th day now." That was... an awfully long time. He was a little curious to know what had been going on back home in his absense. It was the worst possible time to randomly disappear.

[identity profile] ofrevolutions.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"It's possible," he stated, all the while ignoring the small quips thrown his way, "But I haven't been able to connect to the UMN at all." Gaignun wasn't sure what to make of that--or anything thus far for that matter. It bode negatively no matter which way he looked at it.

In the distance, he could faintly hear something loosely resembling music--the circus? But it came from multiple directions, from what he could tell, so there were probably a lot of high voltage places to distract Jr. from all his fretting for a bit. Humoring that thought, Gaignun spoke up, "Primitive isn't the word for it." They were bound to run across one of the sources of all the noise.

[identity profile] ofrevolutions.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Gaignun chuckled quietly to himself. Jr. certainly knew how to lighten a mood, even if he wasn't aware he was doing it. And he couldn't be aware he was doing it, if the almost palpable fascination was anything to go by. Still, he kept some distance so as not to impede on his brother's excitement--Jr. had far too much energy for his age.

I doubt it. In any case, I take it you feel like exploring? I have a feeling we'll be here for a while yet. Might as well make the best of it.

Whoa? Typical. Gaignun walked on, most likely away from his brother but by now, he couldn't see him anyways--the crowd had drowned him out. It was good to hear him still sort of on track nonetheless. In spite of that, he was perfectly aware of how that focus wasn't going to last long. It was with that thought that he decided to drop a warning:

Hostiles? Not necessarily, but there are some shady characters to watch out for. However, strange things seem to be quite everyday here, so do me a favour and stay on your toes?

There are other things, but, ah, I should let you explore. They aren't too terribly pressing right now and you don't seem to be too focused,
he teased before closing the link to let his brother run amuck.
