Log; Complete
When; August 9th. Afternoon.
Rating; PG-13. [Language]
Characters; Rubedo [
red_dragon_666], and Nigredo [
ofrevolutions].
Summary; Rubedo wakes up in the laboratory and dashes to an elevator to escape. He realizes he's not inKansas space anymore.
Log;
Rubedo had just prepared himself for an early demise along with the rest of the crew outside the Ormus Stronghold when a bright light blinded him. Had that been the explosion? Was he dead? He had hoped to at least protect MOMO... He had promised, after all.
"Damnit!"
Wait, what? He could speak? He could swear! Definitely not Heaven.
With a flinch, Rubedo opened his startled blue eyes to see...something very sharp coming down at him. With a strangled yell of panic, he rolled to get away, only to fall right off the hospital bed and onto the floor with a thump. He was quickly on his feet and running out of the room, though, the crazy masked guy with the scalpel yelling after him. Rubedo couldn't understand him, though, and didn't want to.
"What's going on? MOMO! Shion? Gaignun!" He skidded to a stop at an elevator, pressing the down button. Where was he?! Had they been saved? That was NOT the Elsa's infirmary, and definitely not the Durandal's.
When the elevator door opened, he shot in and slammed his palm against the close doors button, turning to see the crazed doctor walking quickly towards him, yelling something about a special experiment. Rubedo found himself holding his breath as the doors closed, and he felt safe again.
...For the moment.

"Jr.!"
He shoved through the hoards of bodies without any idea of where he was going and all he had to work from was a frustratingly faint pull in Jr.'s general direction. He considered dropping a note on the network, but decided against it. It would take too long to get a description down and even then, there was too high a risk of mistaken identity. It meant it had to be Gaignun who hunted Jr. down. Just like old times. Out of desperation, he tried calling out to his brother through the weakened mental link, "Jr., I'm coming to find you. Where are you right now?" He listened, but didn't bother stopping to wait for a response. There was no time for that. With that, Gaignun broke out into as much of a run as he could manage through the crowds.
no subject
Gaignun? I don't know! I woke up on some lab table with a psycho waving a scalpel at me! What happened? We had just detonated the Ormus Stronghold, and that's the last thing I remember...
Not wanting to risk anybody attacking him and succeeding once the elevator doors opened again, he pulled out one of his guns, cocked and ready. Fortunately, nobody was there when he stepped out on ground level. He was sure to keep it out and prepped, though, eyes darting nervously around as he walked speedily in what he hoped was the exit.

Gaignun followed his own gut instinct and eventually came to a rundown looking building. While he knew better than to doubt his senses, he second guessed them now, simply because he'd assumed that it the inside would be no different than the outside--broken down, rotting, and all around forgotten. He took a moment to deliberate and catch his breath before glancing behind him once more. There wasn't any other place his link was telling him to go. He planed a hand on the door handle, bracing himself for whatever may be inside (which couldn't be good, considering) when the doors burst open and his elder sibling slunk out through the doorway.
That was certainly unexpected.
After a brief pause, Gaignun spoke up, "Jr.? Are you all right?"
no subject
"Gaignun! What's going on? Where--" His jaw dropped when he looked around them. What....WAS this? This wasn't Miltia, right? No... "Where are we?! Gaignun, what happened? I can't take this shit anymore without knowing where the hell I am! If this is some prank, I'm going to kick your ass!"
no subject
"Calm down," it was also good to see that fire too, as unnerving as it was sometimes. "You can save your kicking for some other time; we have more important things to worry about. I hate to say it, but I'm not entirely sure where we are. What happened to the others?"
no subject
"Oh shit! MOMO! Shion! chaos! Even that crazy KOS-MOS... And Tony and Matthews... Damniiit... I don't know! I haven't seen them! Do you think they're in there, too?!" He looked nervously over his shoulder at what looked on the outside to just be an old, broken down apartment building.
"We must have crashed somewhere. But... That doesn't explain why you're here, too. Did the Durandal land here?"
no subject
He shook his head, "No. I sent Mary to take the Durandal and back you up in case anything went wrong. As for me, I'm really not certain. The last thing I remember was--" the last thing he remembered! Of course! How could that slip his mind? "Our father."
no subject
Rubedo sure had a bone to pick with that guy, but he hadn't been around for, well, uh...years. So Gaignun bringing him up now made absolutely no sense. "Last thing you remember was him? Are you saying you have fourteen years of amnesia? No, you remember KOS-MOS...and Mary... Gaignun, what the hell is going on?"
Maybe if he shot him in the foot, he'd start talking sense.
no subject
This was going to sound ridiculous, "the last thing I recall before waking up here was his voice, far too real to be merely a recollection. I've been trying to figure out what happened in between, but it's strange." He trailed off and thought about it for a moment, wondering what implications that brought. he hadn't heard it again after that, though. Now wasn't a good time, anyways. "It might just be me. First and foremost, are you all right?"
no subject
I'm fine. You're not. What's going on? The others might be inside... We need to go check.
no subject
It's possible. Gaignun peered inside, completely ignoring Jr.'s question and determined to stand by the fact that now simply wasn't the time. He would be running in completely unarmed, which was likely to be a problem. More important, however, was the safety of their companions. Alright. Be careful, and don't do anything reckless. He stepped inside and was relieved to find nothing too out of the ordinary. On the other hand, it could mean the ugly stuff was inside waiting.
Gaignun frowned. There was that headache again.

He pulled out both pistols this time, glancing nervously around before pointing down the hall with one of them. You go that way. Check the odd floors, and I'll check the even floors. With that decided, Rubedo gave a little salute with his gun before he ran off to the elevator.
no subject
Jr., there was nothing there. I'm back by the entrance. What's your situation?
no subject
Stepping off the elevator, he darted off down the hall to hurry to the exit, then stepped out and glanced up to Gaignun, speaking out loud not. Sometimes it was unnerving to have a voice in your head.
"Okay, so if they're not here... Then I guess we should go looking for them. How long have you been here?"
no subject
"This would be the 6th day now." That was... an awfully long time. He was a little curious to know what had been going on back home in his absense. It was the worst possible time to randomly disappear.
no subject
He had no damned idea where he was going, but he wanted to get away from that crazy lab. Of course... The further he went into the city, the more he became distraught. Everybody looked so different. And the city was so...what was the word...ancient? Hell, he saw somebody reading a BOOK!
At that, Rubedo just stood there gawking. "What is this... This is like the 20th century. Did we somehow get caught up in that space time anomoly? Or... Shit... Maybe this is just a primitive planet..."
no subject
In the distance, he could faintly hear something loosely resembling music--the circus? But it came from multiple directions, from what he could tell, so there were probably a lot of high voltage places to distract Jr. from all his fretting for a bit. Humoring that thought, Gaignun spoke up, "Primitive isn't the word for it." They were bound to run across one of the sources of all the noise.
no subject
He was having a hard time standing still. He just kept darting from one area to another, glancing people over. Their clothing was so bizarre. Some of theirs was, anyway. Some was...especially primitive... Like Jin's clothing.
The young man couldn't even see Gaignun anymore, he was so busy checking out what appeared to be an oldschool flat-screen television in a shop window. Whoa, Gaignun... This IS the 20th century. Or the 21st. Either I'm dreaming, and this is wicked cool, or...we're trapped in someone's subconscious again. I don't know how that could have happened, since none of us were hooked up, but I can't think of any other reason...
no subject
I doubt it. In any case, I take it you feel like exploring? I have a feeling we'll be here for a while yet. Might as well make the best of it.
no subject
While he walked around, gaze constantly wandering and getting him distracted, he kept their mind-link up. It was handy, sometimes, to have one of those... He could ask whatever he wanted without having people eavesdrop.
So if you've been here for nearly a week like you say, then wherever we are seemed to warp time and space. That would also explain why we can't connect to the UMN or make contact with the others. Can you tellme what you've learned about this place? Are there any hostiles? I mean, what if--Whoa.
Of course, it wasn't fun to know that Gaignun probably knew what he was thinking when he checked out a passing girl. Those clothes were tight. Whoa, indeed.
no subject
Hostiles? Not necessarily, but there are some shady characters to watch out for. However, strange things seem to be quite everyday here, so do me a favour and stay on your toes?
There are other things, but, ah, I should let you explore. They aren't too terribly pressing right now and you don't seem to be too focused, he teased before closing the link to let his brother run amuck.
