Summary; Tea and chat.
Log;
She wasn't expecting much; keeping her expectations low was a habit more than anything. She had met the young girl through the network and was hoping that she was as lovely as she seemed. Witches seldom managed to hold her attention, but a witch who could hack was an entirely different matter. In her own world, witches always preferred less technical aspirations.
She crossed her legs and pulled at her perfectly tailored cuffs, her skirt falling over her legs. She looked up and waited for the girl - Willow - to arrive at tea.
~~~~
Willow really didn't dress up for the occasion, choosing a dark purple, loose sleeved top to wear, pairing it with black, flared jeans and a leather belt. She did keep her boots on - you could wear them with anything, after all -, her red hair left down to fall past her shoulders.
Hoisting her bag further up on her shoulder as she entered the cafe, her eyes seemed to immediately pimpoint the woman she'd been speaking to over the network. With a silent, deep breath, she approached, a smile lighting up her features. "Miss Saya, I presume," she said as she stopped at the table.
~~~
Such pretty red hair. It was like a beacon. "Yes. Willow, I take it? Please sit down," she said, indicating to the empty chair before her. "I took the liberty of ordering some orange pekoe; I hope you don't mind, but they make it very fine here." That was true, but Saya didn't drink much. She had poured herself half a cup, so she could make it appear like she drank more than she did.
The weaving around the girl was wild, like a storm. A powerful witch, not a hedge witch with aspirations of grandeur. "You have wonderful hair," Saya said, her eyes flickering over them, her fingers curling up around her collar.
~~~~
Willow could read Saya's aura, and knew right off the bad she was more than human, However, she merely smiled and sat, crossing her ankles. "Thank you," she said, "It has a lovely aroma." She picked it up and took a sip, letting the warmth flow down her throat.
At the compliment, Willow chuckled. "Thank you," she said, setting her cup down gently, "I do try to take good care of it." She remembered what the one who called himself Alucard had told her: The lady with the dark hair is a giant spider If that was true, Saya was masking it well. Then again, Willow herself had a reign on her own powers. She knew that it probably seemed wild around her though. This City... it seemed to bring it out.
~~~~
Saya smiled slightly, purposefully. "I do hope you're settling in well to the City. It's a disconcerting place, if you're new." She sipped at her tea. "But I noticed that a friend of yours is here as well. Have you found jobs yet?"
She couldn't go saving the entire city from destitute joblessness, but she could at the very least direct them to people who could offer them jobs.
"So tell me of how you hack; how you feel networks. I'm intrigued."
~~~~
Willow took another sip of her tea, nodding at the question. "Yes, we have," she replied, "We both work at the Library." She smiled as she cupped her hands around her drink, feeling the warmth tingling around her fingertips and palms.
At her second request, Willow tilted her head a bit. "It's not a matter of feeling, exactly... It's more an exercise of logic than anything..." The redhead fell into a description of how she broke down firewalls, cracked passwords, and generally just made the system work as if it was hers and not somone else. After a few minutes, she set her tea down. "I'm sorry," she said with an apologetic smile, "This must seem horribly boring."
~~~~
Saya tilted her head as she processed the information. Her entire method of hacking was completely opposite; different, a sense of intuition, watching the Weaving manipulate. She never knew how "real" hacking actually worked. Her intense sense of network made it almost effortless.
"It's not boring at all," she said, her light brown eyes perking at the end of the speech. "I'm a mechanical engineer, but I hack mostly by intuition." She jerked her fingers once, quickly, and then asked, "The library. It's a lovely place, but is it really the best work for a witch of your calibur?"
~~~~
Intuitive hacking? It was news to Willow, but not at all surprising, considering where she was. At the question, she shrugged. "Probably not," she replied, "But I enjoy being around books, and I'm good at it. I need the money, and if the job fits..." She trailed off, taking a sip of her tea.
After a moment, as she put the cup down, she raised a brow at Saya. "Do you think there's a job here better suited for me?" she asked calmly, wondering what the reply would be. Maybe there was a magic store or something here; she wasn't fully acquainted with the City's many areas yet.
~~~~
Saya thought about it. A better job for a witch? There were always better jobs in the City, it was only just a matter of looking. "Mr. Brocklehurst, who works for Rosiel, might know of a position where your talents would be more appreciated than in the library."
Her thoughts turned sharply to Arthur. "And of course, there's the matter of justice in the City, and working for that department. Do you have any interest in that?" She pondered further. "Finally, I suppose you could speak to Tony Foster or Harry Dresden. Both are wizards of fine caliber, and will likely be able to ascertain a better work environment. Although, in my opinion, you should perhaps sell your services and goods. I'm sure a majority of the mundane citizens would feel no qualms about taking advantage of your skills, should you choose to dole them out."
Saya's smile flickered into the realm of predatory. "Now. Tell me about yourself."
~~~~
Harry Dresden. Willow had met him, but her face didn't express it. "I use my powers for helping others," she replied calmly, "However, selling them never really occured to me." Whether it was against her beliefs or if it truly didn't occur to her was unclear.
Willow chuckled and smiled at the question, lifting her teacup to her lips. "What would you like to know?" she asked, sipping the last of the warm beverage.
~~~~
Saya inclined her head in a vague sort of nod. Good and evil were such vague terms for her; it was like saying that one preferred blue to black. There was no feasible purpose.
She smiled in return. The girl didn't seem that much younger than her in actual age, but so much younger in everything else. "Tell me about your life, Willow. Do you have a job in your world? A boyfriend?"
~~~~
Willow frowned some at her empty teacup; this must be what Giles felt like after his Earl Grey ran out. She set it aside, focusing herself on the question set before her. "I do have a job," she rplied with a nod, "For lack of a better term for it, I make sure messed up things get... less messed up. As for my marital status, I am happily taken by a wonderful lady." She smiled at the thought of Kennedy, making a note to herself to try and contact her again that night.
~~~~
A lesbian? Saya tipped her head. "I assume that she's not here." She thought about the brief time she spent in the city without Socrates. "The City provides, sometimes, but other times it doesn't. I hope that things turn out alright."
The hope was a lie; not a real lie, she did mean hope, but it wasn't like most people thought of hope. It was more like a soft whisper of faith along her back. Explaining the concept would be impossible.
She carefully poured Willow some more tea. "You're very calm about this whole affair. Do you like the City thus far?"
~~~~
"She isn't," she replied, "But she is safe, so I'm not too horribly worried." She smiled and thanked Saya as the other woman poured her more tea, the scent of the orange hitting her nostrils.
"I'm rather used to the unusual," Willow said, smiling as she carefully picked up her full cup, "And the City is certainly interesting. I get the feeling I have a lot to learn." She blew on the not tea gently before taking a sip, not wanting to burn her tongue.
~~~~
Saya finished her tea. "The unusual flocks here. Have you met any of the Endless yet? If you see one on the Network, be sure to say hello." She wasn't unused to giving advice.
"If you need any help, anything at all, be sure to let me know. We may have currency now, but we still rely mostly on favors to get by. I'll do what I can, if I can." She meant it. It was rare for her to lie about something like that, but Saya had an uncanny ability to draw allies, or at least to pick them out from the crowd.
"You've been very generous with information," she said finally, brushing a curl away from her shoulder.
~~~~
"The Endless?" Willow repeated, raising her brow, then shaking her head, "The name doesn't ring any bells. But I shall keep my eyes and ears open."
Smiling at the woman's words, she nodded. "I figured as such," she mused, "Especially since I hear the currency is rather unusual here. Something about colored coins and oranges." She didn't quite get the gist of it yet, but like she said, she had a lot to learn, yet.
A chuckle escaped the redhead at that statement. "Until someone gives me a reason not to, I tend to be rather open," she replied simply, setting the teacup down.
~~~~
"The Endless. Death, Dream, Destruction, Desire and Delirium. I believe there are more, but I haven't seen them around here."
She nodded briefly. "Oranges, Rosiel's favorite snackfood. He's one to watch. He could rule this City, if he wanted to, but he really doesn't seem to want to." She toyed with her cup in her long fingers, rolling it carelessly between them. "You should really think about keeping some information to yourself, Willow. Not everyone here is kind. But I'm sure your world is the same."
~~~~
"Interesting," mused the Wiccan with a nod, "Shouldn't be too hard to spot."
"It is rather alike, in that respect," she said, "It's definitely not all flowers and roses. Everyone has secrets. Myself included." She calmly took a sip of her tea, not elaborating on purpose. "That Rosiel sounds like an interesting character, though. Friend of yours?"
~~~~
"Employer, after a fashion. I don't think Rosiel has friends, really." Saya looked at her watch. Almost four. Socrates would be waiting for her soon. "You're a very nice girl," she said casually. "I have to meet my brother - he'll be upset if I'm not there on time, but it was a pleasure to meet you in person, Miss Willow."
Socrates actually probably wouldn't notice that she was late, but she would be upset, and that's all that mattered. "I'll cover the tea, since I invited you. Perhaps we can meet again, if you wish."
~~~~
With a smile, the redhead nodded. "I'd like that," she said, "And thank you for the tea." She raised her cup some in thanks before taking another sip. "Till we see each other again, Miss Saya."
Spider lady, Alucard had said... No hairy legs had tried to grab her under the table, certainly; besides, Willow's trust was easily given, yet hard to regain once broken.
~~~~
"Just Saya. No miss required." Saya stood and stretched her legs, which were not hairy in the least, and nodded a friendly nod. "I'll see you soon, Willow," She said, nodded her head and leaving Juliet's in a quiet and comfortable mood.
