Summary; Kyouraku-taichou to the rescue...?
Log;
Nanao's hands seemed to tighten upon the spine of her large and overly heavy book as her eyebrows gave an annoyed twitch. This really was quite ridiculous, all things considered, especially if half of what she had read from that guide her Taichou had given her proved to be true. All she wanted to do was get back to work, and not deal with such mundane things as different worlds and strange people. Was that really too hard to ask for?
It would have been easier had it simply been some sort of a test, and if Shunnui had simply been drinking sake and making it all up. The reality of the situation had hit her though, especially when he had admitted to actually working. Still a bit skeptical, she was starting to believe that this was really all true. That, and the other person to respond to her entry.
After all, what sort of being had that strange and bothersome man been? And why the heck could he not understand that Nanao found such things as dating and drinking to be a waste of time? If everyone here proved to be as annoying and irritating as him, her book would soon become a weapon of murder. Though she really shouldn't think such thoughts, for it would have been cruel to the poor book, her trust companion, one might say.
Shifting her book as if to hug it to her chest, Nanao remained standing near the massive steps of the courthouse, her gaze slightly downward, ignoring any looks others gave her. They were none of her concern, for the time being, as Nanao currently just needed to speak to her Taichou and get this whole thing sorted out.
And curses? Nanao gave a small shudder at that, before giving another sigh.

But after thinking, usually came a time to face reality, and after a long talk with his lover, things were sorted out again. At least they were prepared. The afternoon in same said park had been rather lovely, though, and Shunsui thought that perhaps it was the highlight of his month.
He was surprised then to see that the day could get even better, with the arrival of his beautiful vice-captain that evening! What a wonderful event! He truly had missed her. Missed the constant nagging to stay on task, missed the objections to his love poetry, and most of all miss the stability her presence provided.
He found the courthouse with relative ease. Arriving only a few moments later with the aid of some excited flash steps. He could feel her reiatsu - albeit a bit muddled. He didn't see her right away, though, and he began to get a little nervous. This was a dangerous place after all. He called out to her.
"NANAOOO CHAAAAAAAN~~~!!!"

Nanao had not been kept waiting long, for that familiar voice that she had heard every day for who knew how many years, rang out over the area in which she was standing. Her eyes closed, and she counted to three, making sure to take calm, relaxing breaths, before they reopened and violet eyes looked around.
It was not hard to miss him, and Nanao moved out from the shadows were she had been standing. With those precise steps of hers, she drew up close to her Captain's side as her eyes rolled over to him. One eyebrow arose in a slightly annoyed manner, before Nanao shifted her book to her left hand. At her brief glance, he looked a bit tired and haggard, though that did not stop her crisp, reprimanding voice from replying. "Really, Sir, do you have to be so loud? And why must you continue to call me by that!"

He was relieved to see her, but it didn't show on his face. Instead, he smiled warmly, it was her first day after all, and she had a lot to take in. Best tell her with a sight she was used to, right?
"If I know you, you've probably read that thing I showed you all the way through twice by now, right?" He looked up in comical thought before continuing. "So then, what else is there you need to know?"
He was going to mention the incidents with the arrancar, who was friendly here, who wasn't, and what areas of the city to avoid...but they were all troublesome things, and he couldn't bring himself to speak of it right away.
Even now, the thought that she was not stuck here, just like the rest of them was seeping into his conscious thought, and was started to sober his mood...no pun intended, of course.

Unsure of whether to tell him that she had in fact read it through quite a few times more than a simply twice, Nanao let it slide. Anyway, the more you read something, the clearer it became. Also, the more information that Nanao had, the better informed she would be. Still, that thing about the curses was bothering her.
Resisting the urge to open her book to take notes, as she currently had nothing to write with, Nanao gave a nod of her head. Anyway, she could probably remember most of it anyway, as that was a talent of hers. "Knowing whom else from our world is here would be helpful, any additional information about this 'City', as well as any information about these 'curses' that the city suffers at times."
She gave two short blinks, tilting her head up at him.

"There's quite a lot of us, Nanao chan," he started, looking up in thought again, as if it would help him remember. "So there, Me, and Ukitake and Hitsugaya-kun...that's it for the captains." He frowned slightly at this but quicky recovered. "And there's a lot of you vice-captains now...let's see... Kurotsuchi-fukutaichou, Kotetsu-fukutaichou ...saa that's a lot to say! You don't mind if I drop the title right?"
He continued without waiting for a response. "Hinamori, Kotetsu - Isane, I mean...though Kiyone-chan's here too...um...Yachiru-chan, and Abarai-kun too...and Just today Rangiku-chan came too! Isn't that great?"
It wasn't great. They didn't deserve to be stuck in this horrible place. But he kept smiling for her sake. "...Kotsubaki is here...hmm...and Rukia-chan too...the 13th has the most numbers, you see...and a 7th seat from the Fourth Division...Yamada, I think,"
Shunsui felt a bit like he was rambling on, but there really were quite a few of them here. Now for the bad... "And then...Aizen is here, and he's brought a bunch of his playthings with him. Some are Espada in rank. I can't say I can remember or pronounce all their names..."
He was about to launch into a description of the curses so far, but he realized that there was one more here who called themselves a shinigami...
After mentioning Aizen, his face had fallen a bit, so hopefully the woman beside him would take this as a serious question. "A young woman named Senna is here too. Do you know her?

She shook her head, for in a private setting she did not mind. She had not expected him to keep going, thinking that each time he paused he would be done, yet it seemed that that was not the case, for he kept ticking off them off. Her grip on her book seemed to falter slightly as she stood there, but her fingers soon wrapped around the familiar leather siding. So many. How was that even possible? But Nanao would soon come to realize that in this city, things did not work like at home.
Eyes widened though at the mention of Aizen, for the events of that betrayal were still fresh despite the passage of time. Her brows furrowed upon her face as that information sunk in, and she wondered once more just what kind of a place this was? Though, it currently did not seem like the Arrancar were in charge, and Shunsui would have told her if things were extremely dire.
Her lips started to form the question, prodding him for more information about the Arrancar, when his own question made her words die on her lips. Nanao blinked curiously, shifting her glasses slightly on her face and shook her head. "I'm sorry, Sir. I cannot say that I do. Should I?"

He sighed then, very slightly. Lots of things were strange in this city, and she had asked about the curses. He did his best to sound unconcerned for now.
"The curses are a nasty business. Nobody knows when they'll happen, or what they'll do," he shrugged. "Some of them are kind of fun, actually...but lately they've been nothing but trouble. The whole city panics when they happen. You'll know it's a cursed day when you see it all over on the computer," Here he patted his own device, resting inside the folds of his kosode.
He noted that he was starting to sound more serious, but it was hard to keep on a happy face over such a grim subject as bad curses and city business.
"You might know you're affected by one, or you might not. They can...make you sing a song, tell everyone your personal secrets, or become a kid again...or they can hurt you or make you sick the next." The plague had been rather nasty, and he furrowed his eyebrows a bit.
He looked up at her with a calmer expression, and put a hand on her shoulder to reassure her. "But don't worry! We captains are trying our best to get everyone home!" he said. "In the meantime, we've set up some things that will make it a bit more oragnized. For instance, I'm in charge of all the people from the Fourth Division here, isn't that something?"
He chuckled then, trying to lighten the situation. "No worries, Nanao-chan, I'm still your captain wherever we are, hmm?"

Although he tried to pawn his sigh off quietly, Nanao heard it. Purple eyes narrowed upon him once again, studying his features, wondering what exactly had been going on since he had been here. A couple months, had he not said, that he had been here? It made her wonder just what kind of a place this was that he looked so worn.
Her face seemed to take on a new expression, listening to him speak, for it was clear that his words were serious and that he took it seriously. There were not many things that her Captain actually took very seriously, though the simple fact that he was being like that was enough to put Nanao on edge. She gave a nod of her head, eyes still slightly wide, not exactly liking that news at all.
For her, singing seemed as bad as the plague, for Nanao was not the type of person prone to such things. The only secrets she really had were ones that involved Shinigami matters, and becoming a child again? She simply shuddered at the thought of it. With a soft sigh passing through her lips, Nanao rubbed her temple.
"Home." Nanao muttered, pondering the implications behind that simple word. Her head jerked up though as he stated that he was in charge of the people from the fourth. A part of her wondered just how that was going, for it was not like the personas within that division could keep a firm hand on Shunsui to keep him in line. She rolled her eyes though at his last statement. Narrowing them to peer at him, she gave a faint smile, for Nanao was not usually known for her wide smiles, and shook her head. "Of course you are. There is no one else that can keep you in line, Sir."

He wasn't surprised when Nanao said she hadn't met the new woman. He had a good feeling something else was going on, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
The subtle change in her face let Shunsui know he was being too serious again. He would do his best to remedy that, laughing a little at her statement about keeping him in line.
"That is true, Nanao-chan~! What would I do without you, hmm?" ...he had to admit he felt a little stretched thin lately for lots of reasons, but with his lovely vice-captain by his side again, he had a feeling things were starting to look up. She knew how to keep things together.
He smiled again now, looking at her appreciatively for what he was sure would be her future help. "Saa...you need a place to sleep, don't you? I'll show you where I live! It's rather pretty and would compliment your beauty wonderfully!"
no subject
It should have come as no surprise that he would have noted that small alteration of her features, for a Vice and a Captain generally worked together as a well bodied team, and they were no different. Although she tended to chase him all across Soul Society and although he kept telling her to relax and have some fun, they really did go quite well together.
That exasperated look crossed onto her face, but for Shunhui he would have realized that the look was not all it actually was, for there was that softness in her eyes. After all, she did have complete faith in him. Her dry voice responded, whether or not he had been seeking an answer. "I'd assume you would either sleep the day away, or find someone to drink sake with, Sir."
In truth, she had not even thought about the fact that she would need a place to stay. She could just imagine what his place would look like though, for surely there would be sake bottles everywhere, no? Twitching her lips, Nanao responded, "You never did learn your compliments are pointless. How does one go about acquiring a place of their own to stay?"

"Nanao-chan, You seem to automatically think I'm bringing you back to my room!" He shook his head, still smiling. "It's big temple. Lots of people live where I live! Ukitake, and his two third seats, Urahara and and Yoruichi too...oh, I forgot to mention them. There's a few ryoka here too."
Shunsui started walking, not checking to see if she would follow - a flash step was useless if you didn't know where you were going.
"The hallways are a bit tricky, but there are empty rooms there. You'll have to deal with the noise in your head if you're alone though, I'm sorry for that, it's annoying. If you're hungry, I can get you something to eat too...but once you get a job you'll be on your own, hmm?"
no subject
Her expression was still blank as she looked upon him, his words being heard, yet she still failed to find what had made him laugh. Huffing a bit, she wiggled her glasses upon her face, her eyes closed for several very long moments, before opening them. Ignoring his earlier statement, Nanao focused upon the latter part. "I assume you mean ones from our world, Sir?"
He started to walk then, which made Nanao take several quick steps to catch up with him, until she was trailing behind him with her book still hanging in her arms. Although she remained focused upon him, she allowed her gaze to wander around. Something he said though did not make sense to her, and she questioned him. "Noise in my head if I'm alone? Though no, Sir, I'm not hungry currently. A job? Oh, yes..."
Although she responded with her usual voice, a part of her was panicking. After all, she was not fond of chaos or disorder, and this day was throwing a wrench into all her plans.

He walked along quietly for a few moments, in thought before speaking again.
"If you have any more questions, Kurotsuchi-fukutaichou probably keeps the best notes, and she's probably one of the people who's been here the longest. And I'm probably forgetting a few things."
It was true...weren't some people here for a year or longer? The thought made him slightly discouraged. He thought of the woman walking with him, and felt a little guilty for wishing that she was here so much. Now she was stuck too.
"I'm sorry, Nanao-chan. We might be here a while." It was a problem that weighed heavily on his mind, and he still didn't have any clue as to how to fix it.

That really was bothersome, and she leaned her head back, looking upward. It was nice to know that Nemu had some information, and Nanao would try to see her later to read over what the other fuku had written about so far. She gave an acknowledging nod of her head to that, wondering who had been the first beings to be here, and how they had found this place.
Her gaze settled upon him again, as she gave a confused look. Shaking her head, she continued to follow him. "You don't need to be sorry, Sir. It's not like you are the cause of these circumstances."

He gave a slight sigh at her other words. Perhaps it wasn't his fault that she was here, but two months was a long time to get absolutely nowhere in trying to find a way out. Granted, there had been plenty of distractions.
"True," he said after a moment. "But I haven't gotten very far in figuring this place out yet, and I'm sure you'd like to go back soon."
The temple wasn't far ahead now, and Shunsui turned to his subordinate. "Let's find a place for you to spend the night, hmm?"
