CHARACTERS: Everyone.
SUMMARY: we interrupt your regular Xanadu viewing for the following special reminder: ...the visit ain't over til the bloody plant sings.

That's right: our green belle been giving rather obnoxious titillating performances in Xanadu, to what can only be the... enjoyment... of certain Citizens. Adding injury to insult, it's quite possible that a couple of residents have also captured the plant's tune on film, and now the video's been turned into a network viral phenomenon!

But as Citizens surely know, every grand artist needs a doting live audience: come get dibs on more plant footage? Save someone from its evil clutches? Help a poor soul that's got lost in the gardens' great expanse? Get the plant to sign with your talent agency? Embark on a mystical quest to get it to shut up?

Just put your chlorophyll-tinted glasses on, and anything is possible.


[ ooc: Find whatever excuse to throw your character in Xanadu, tag someone new, and all around: GET IN HERE. Just as a note: hearing the plant is definitely optional, so please don't think it's an overwhelming sound that'd keep your character up at night or some such. It's just a log prompt. XD ]

Is it nice there? I have not seen much outside of London. [ And even there, she hasn't seen much.

Tessa can relate, on the hermit thing. ]

It's...[It was, she thinks; back when she hadn't known magic was real and magicians were corrupt and evil and demons ate people's souls because that was the currency for power.

She smiles.] It can be quaint. And it's entertaining, too - depending on where you look.

That sounds pleasant. Did you like it there?

I did. [She would say she likes it here, too - it's not horrible, she doesn't hate the City. So it must come down to something different.]

I liked the people there, mostly. My brother, especially.

[He smiles, just a bit, at that, a little more at ease.]

I don't care much for music. Are famous singers also...murderous?

[ Tessa's mouth twists, for the briefest moment, when she thinks of her own brother, but then she's smiling again. ]

What is he like?

Poor thing...[She laughs a little, and shrugs.]

Some kill with really bad music? But no, mostly they're just big babies with money.

[Saya went for a walk, because she's hungry and she's looking for dinner, and the singing plant stopped her. First off it's needless, annoying noise, but second off, it's a singing plant.

A plant singing about being hungry.

She stands far enough away that the noise isn't as irritating but close enough that she has a clear view of the damn singing plant.]

Man-eating plants. I suppose there's some kind of karmic nature in that.

[And Mae's face lights up. She sits up straight again, and gets excited to talk about Jamie again.]

He's lovely. He's the best brother a girl could have. It's always been us two against the world - we're the team, and it's just...I miss him. [Stops - no, not the time to get teary-eyed.]

He's a fantastic dancer, too. Very smart and funny.

[His smile is more nervous, now, his eyes still on the plant, though it's at quite a distance.]

Perhaps that is for human singers. I'm not sure this plant is bluffing in its song.

I'm sorry that he is not here. [ Placing a hand on Mae's arm for a brief moment. ]

He sounds like a very nice person.

Well, a bluffing plant wouldn't be the strangest thing, considering where we're at.

[She eyes him, and the plant far ahead.]

Does it scare you?

[She gives Tessa sheepish smile - so much for her poker face, when it comes to Jamie.] Thanks.

He's a very nice person. Much nicer than me, for sure.

[Now there is a familiar, and much more welcome voice. Of course, most anything is welcome compared to a singing plant, but. Semantics.]

Do you happen to have weedkiller?

I do my best.

That's true. But until I know for certain I think I'll converse with you, instead.

[He nods his head, feeling vulnerable without Wormmon.]

I don't know how to defend against something like that.

Hmm...and yet here we are, listening to it sing.

[She looks back at him, shrugs - sheepish.] My suggestion would be don't go closer than this, don't let it eat you.

Well...I would like to know more about it. Just not at the expense of my life.

[He nods his head again.] I won't. But do you really think it eats people?

[Nods.] Curiosity. You know what they say about curiosity.

[She grins, then waves her hand dismissively.] I couldn't tell you. I don't plan on going close enough to ask.

[He knows of the English phrase and smiles a bit once more.] Yes. And I don't plan to get much closer, either.

Would you mind if I sat with you?

[brobeforehos]

Not at all - sorry I didn't offer it before. Here.

[Scoots over a little and leaves some considerable space on the blanket.]

So, what's your name?

[ In answer, there's the sound of a sword being unsheathed and swung into the offending plant. The immediate singing dies with a weak, inhuman scream. ]

Will that do?

[Before he sits, he bows slightly.]

I'm Ken Ichijouji. It's nice to meet you.

[Then he settles on the blanket, keeping a nice distance, respecting personal space.]

And yours? [At least he's looking at her now, and not staring the plant.]

[That's nice. Polite, too.

Shocking, really, how trusting she is being to perfect strangers today. But then again, isn't she all the time on the network? That's what those conversations are, even if they're from a distance.

Still, he doesn't look like he could do harm; looks more wary of the plant than anything.]
