CHARACTERS: Everyone.
SUMMARY: we interrupt your regular Xanadu viewing for the following special reminder: ...the visit ain't over til the bloody plant sings.

That's right: our green belle been giving rather obnoxious titillating performances in Xanadu, to what can only be the... enjoyment... of certain Citizens. Adding injury to insult, it's quite possible that a couple of residents have also captured the plant's tune on film, and now the video's been turned into a network viral phenomenon!

But as Citizens surely know, every grand artist needs a doting live audience: come get dibs on more plant footage? Save someone from its evil clutches? Help a poor soul that's got lost in the gardens' great expanse? Get the plant to sign with your talent agency? Embark on a mystical quest to get it to shut up?

Just put your chlorophyll-tinted glasses on, and anything is possible.


[ ooc: Find whatever excuse to throw your character in Xanadu, tag someone new, and all around: GET IN HERE. Just as a note: hearing the plant is definitely optional, so please don't think it's an overwhelming sound that'd keep your character up at night or some such. It's just a log prompt. XD ]

I could, yeah. It'd be quick, though; maybe not as accurate as anyone would like, so if I had access to some sort of lab or medical facility, I'd prefer to use what they've got there. But on away missions, this does just fine.

[Saya looks over, smiling slightly, but as usual the smile doesn't reach her eyes]

[She blinks, because usually it's hard to sneak up on her, but her surprise is short-lived]

Humans eat plants all the time, don't they?

[Saya is almost pleased to see Eames, but less to see the dog, who has stopped looking at the plant and is sniffing at Saya's heels. He seems confused.]

It's a plant eat man world out there, Mr. Eames.

[She's not the only one with her sketchpad. Steve is staring, and he's just nearby]

The future is confusing.

They closed the barrier again. They only got in because someone took it down.

[It wasn't as chilly as it had been over the past few days, so Rapunzel decided to go for a walk in Xanadu. It was always fascinating, seeing the changes the plants went through during the winter.

She's walking along, minding her own business, when she hears some...very, very weird music. Rapunzel frowns, wondering where on earth it could've come from, before going to track it down.

And when she finds the source...]

...A singing plant?

Is it? I don't recall.

[She might notice that; but might not say a thing.]

It would be a funny one, I think.

I don't think this is a future thing. We don't have singing plants where I'm from, at least.

[ There's some shifting before Ariadne pats the bench. Sit, Steve. ]

I don't know yet. We'd only just shipped out before I got here.

[ Tessa frowns a little. She feels as though she knows him well, really, but there are many things she doesn't know at all about him. ] Are you in the military, then?

That's the one, yeah. I know some people tried to escape when it went down, but I don't know anyone who made it

Welcome. You a plant-lover or just not concerned for your own safety?

[ He lifts an eyebrow. ]

[He takes a seat and keeps watching it]

So this is a City thing.

[Saya shifts on her heels a bit]

I'll assume you won't go too close, right?

[ There's a slightly sheepish laugh. ]

Probably the last one more than the first, unfortunately.

[ Good boy. ]

Yeah, probably. Or the plant came along with someone from some other world.

Safe bet! [ He grins. ] The little animals there have exquisite hearing so they can avoid being prey. They're just lucky the plants can't walk yet.

Does it speak or just sing?

[Steve opens his sketchpad and flips through it before finally landing on a page with nothing on it]

Yeah, well, if there were a bunch of goddamn harpies in the way...

[ There's a slight sigh. ] So that's what's waitin' out there? Things that want to eat us?

Starfleet, yeah. It's technically a "peacekeeping and humanitarian armada", and we explore, too... but it's still military.

Apparently. There was an expedition this summer, seeing how far they could sail out. There were cyclones and storms and shit. They had to turn back.

It probably speaks, too. I've just heard singing so far, but that could be because it has an audience.
