Log; Complete
When; November 7th [Evening].
Rating; G
Characters; Nill [
caged_song] & Joshua [
apostle_of_hope].
Summary; After being ordered by Rosiel to fetch Nill, Joshua has trouble sorting out his feelings, and Nill isn't much better off.
Log;
Why did Rosiel want Nill? Joshua was far from comfortable with it, if only because of their history. It would be difficult to keep from killing her again for the grave sin she had committed. But he wasn't too interested in getting another slap in the face from the Angel, so the Apostle grudgingly got ready to go...with Fiore's help, of course. Apparently she had her own tasks to tend to, so they split up from there.
He didn't like to go into the populated area, so he let both wings spread and take up to the skies, eradicating the need to be near the stupid people and their noise. He knew that Nill was still staying with that old Demon, and surely he wouldn't agree to Joshua taking her. Instead of knocking on the front door, the boy flew to the floor he knew that Crowley lived on and began looking in windows. It would be very annoying if she happened to not be home, but--
There she was, looking as prim and proper as ever. Really, she had been the perfect candidate for being his sister, ignoring her age. What was she doing, getting ready for bed?
Forcing back his jumbled emotions, Joshua settled himself down to sit on the railing of her balcony. The moonlight reflected off his iridescent wings, but he had no reason to retract them, considering he wasn't going to be staying long. Instead, the teenager smiled and stared through the sliding glass door, waiting for her to take notice of her latest visitor. It was cold, but then, he was always cold.
~
The girl yawned sleepily, no sound escaping from her mouth except the exhale of breath. She rubbed her eyes lightly, and moved to turn off her desk lamp.
The book she had been reading, was laid open on the table. It was a wonderful story, another fairy tale. She liked those. She ran a hand along the page, as if she could soak up the words, as if she could tell what story it told just from a simple touch. She would continue reading tomorrow. Maybe she could get Mister Crowley to read outloud for her tomorrow, hearing stories read was fun too. Nill yawned again and turned off the desk lamp with a soft press of a button.
She looked up and noticed something outside her window. No, not something.someone. The girl hadn't noticed it earlier since the light had caused a glare in the window...but there he was...Joshua.
The girl paled, wings stiffened, blue eyes wide. DS's warning rang in her head.
Oh no...
~
If her expression wasn't clear enough through the glass, her noise most definitely tipped him off. Fear. She was afraid...of what? That he would kill her again? True, he wanted to... But it wouldn't accomplish anything, and Rosiel didn't want her damaged. I am not a monster, he wanted to say, but for some reason no words came.
Instead, the boy remained silent, his smile never wavering, and kind eyes practically looking right through her. With one hand gripping the railing where he sat, he casually let his other hand stretch out towards her, palm up to beckon her outside. It would be better if she came of her own free will, of course. I'm not a kidnapper. I won't hurt you. But again, he remained silent.
Silent and still with his hand out stretched, his patience almost made him mirror a statue, until a cold breeze forced his tie and coat to billow and bring life back to the picture once more.
~
Her wings fluttered slightly. she backed up slowly. She had promised that she would be careful. She had promised that she would stay away. She had even promised Joshua that she would not go back to him. He had wanted her gone, he had wanted her dead. And she had died.
Was that what she was scared of? Death? Being all cold? Unable to feel the rhythm of the heart? Yes...she was scared of loosing that music...and she also didn't want to upset her friends. She didn't want to see anyone sad...she didn't want to be sad either...
Nill turned around in a fluster and ran towards her door.
~
As soon as he saw her shift, Joshua was already moving. With his speed, he could have been at her side in a split second, but Rosiel had reminded him to be polite, so breaking the window's glass really wouldn't be appropriate. Stopping to grip the handle so that he could force it to slide open--breaking the lock in the process--only slowed him down about another second or two.
It was just as her hand stretched for the doorknob that Joshua was suddenly in front of her, catching her hand in his. Finally, he spoke, his voice a soft murmur, smile never leaving his face. "You used to like dancing with me. Don't want to anymore?"
~
She jumped a little bit, surprised. Nill had forgotten he was so fast...she had tried to forget.
The girl tried to pull back, unwilling to answer the question. Nill didn't want to think about it. She didn't want to remember because it hurt. Blue eyes pleaded to be let go.
~
Calmly, he watched her as she tried to step back, though his grip was unyielding at first. It was only after more thought that he released her and rested his hands in his coat pocket, still keeping his voice own and guarding the door. Best if her guardian didn't know about this until she was already gone.
"You should put on your shoes and dress warmly. It's cold out there." And of course, he wasn't taking his eyes off of her. It was still so confusing to look at her. Not his sister. With those wings, she was just a mockery of angels.
~
She was confused, but only for a moment. Nill shook her head once more and planted her feet on the floor, she wouldn't budge. It was the only other thing she could think of doing at the moment. The prior though being to jump out of the window which...w-wasn't the best idea...
Why wouldn't he just go...?
~
Raising an eyebrow, Joshua just stared at her for awhile before finally shrugging and pulling his hands out of his pockets. "It's not like I want to be here... Rosiel's making me. If I had my way, I'd never have to see your face again."
Mere seconds passed, and somehow in that time he had scooped her into his arms to cradle her bridal style. She might have tried to protest, but her strength was laughable in comparison to his, really. Staring straight ahead, Joshua stepped back out onto the balcony, letting his wings spread once more. "I won't drop you."
~
Nill tried to protest but by then they were already out on the balcony. Rosiel made him?
His words were slightly reassuring...she kept her face down, eyes averted. She wouldn't look him in the face so it'd be easier for him. Nill closed her own eyes, she didn't want to see his face either for fear of remembering more than she had to.
~
Remembering that Rosiel had wanted him to use manners, Joshua paused and turned to slide the glass door shut once more, moving fast enough so that he didn't have to release her legs for more than a second. Then, it was with a sigh that he took off, careful not to look at her as well. He didn't like this at all... It reminded him of the other times he had taken her flying.
She was nothing but a lying snake. He had to remember that. As soon as he took her to Rosiel, he would turn his back on her an hope to never look at her face again. Looking into her eyes was worse than the noise, because the reflection he saw in those blue irises was a lie.
He was not a monster.
