Summary; Shopping for a cello!
Log;

Asuka tapped her foot, crossed her arms across her chest and scrunched up her face, not because she is upset about waiting, but because it is what people who are upset about waiting do. Shinji was not late, really; but Asuka had not meant to be early either, of course.

Still, she did not want Shinji to ask about her being early, and the best way to do that was to be upset, or at least appear so. How she loved striking fear into the hearts of scaredy boys! In truth however, maybe she just did not want to seem nice. It scares her, seeing how she was changing. She knew that maybe it was for the better, but she feared letting go of the barrier she had built to protect herself.

But enough of that.

She glanced at her watch with her brows furrowed, tapping her foot a little quicker. Where is that idiot Shinji?

He had been sure he wasn't late. He wasn't, right? He had been absolutely sure not to be because Asuka would be furious with him otherwise. He didn't really want her to be mad with him, or hate him, or leave. And somewhat ironically, after everything was over she had been the only person he had seen after it was over for the first time he sat up and was no longer in the Eva. She had been the first one he had seen in the City. And now, once again, she was the only one left.

But aside from the curses the city had, compared to some people, been okay to him. Sure, he'd died somewhere along the lines but... it could be worse. There were no angels, no Eva, his father wasn't there either. It was a second chance and he was glad for it.

Turning the corner then, he stops, blinks and smiles somewhat nervously at the Second Child "Er..." Ever the image of eloquence, is Shinji "You... weren't here long, were you, Asuka? I'm sorry I'm late." Even if he wasn't late apologies almost came automatically from him sometimes.

Sighing, his head hanging heavily, the boy follows, of course. He follows well, after all. He's just grown that way. It's easier to follow than ask questions or stray too far out the box. The past events in which had done that after all had ended very badly. So much for thinking for yourself, he figured.

"I'm glad you waited," He said idly, smiling a little bit "I was starting to think I'd done something to make you mad again." That was a slight lie; if Asuka had been trying to contact him he hadn't noticed - the events over the city over the recent weeks caused him to hide away. Misato had left, Rei had left, Kaworu had left... He just wanted to hide a while. Then, he'd come out again and it felt like almost the second he had done he'd been accosted. And really, he didn't mind.

Ahh, the look that said 'What, are you stupid?' he'd almost missed that. Almost being the key word. It left him with two feelings; annoyance that she automatically assumed anything that came out of his mouth was foolish and the more subtle relief. He'd rather than her calling him stupid and actually look at him than have silence again.

Shinji almost purposefully dragged behind a little, his head hanging as he sighs, but really if coming along was that much of a chore he wouldn't have done it in the first place.

"Huh?" Lifting his head, the boy blinked "Er... dream cello? I... hadn't really thought about it. It's not something I learnt because I was interested, or anything." Ahh, Shinji. Bland as ever. True, he had no real dreams and he had only learnt to play because he was told to.

The boy lifts his hands quickly in defence, as though he was expecting her to try and literally attack him after giving him such a look. She doesn't, this time and that's a relief.

"N-no, I'm not wasting your time! O-of course I want it!" He smiles a shaky kind smile, making a slightly nervous sound "I wouldn't have come along otherwise. Honest!"

Partly true. He was also a little too scared to turn Asuka down...

He opens his mouth, then pauses, closing it once more and looking to the side thoughtfully. What DID he want? Whenever a question like that came up it tended to confuse him.

"What I want..." He mused lightly. Sighing then, he looks back at her and smiles a little "Let's see what we can find. I doubt there will be a lot of choice here, really. I... want to play again, though... So it's okay. Let's just see what we can find, okay?"
