Log ; ONGOING
When; Friday Night
Rating; PG
Characters; Mai (
enkindling), Dark (
charmingthief), Keith Evans (
freezingly), Mao (
cat_contractor)
Summary; Because mind tweaking can do the body good.
Log;
It all boiled down to natural instinct, fear, panic -- run, everyone and everything was out to hurt her, and she had to do whatever to defend herself. She wondered why Papa had not come for her because Papa was always there, protecting her, even presenting to her that good luck charm that was supposed to protect her whenever he wasn't there.
But it was gone - he was gone.
"Papa..."
The smoke had become to thick, those screams; who did they belong to? She didn't want to be here, this crowded place without Papa.
So she ran to place where there would be no one to bother, a place that ended up to be an empty warehouse.
[ooc: :3 It doesn't have to be a lengthy log~ Just a few tags from each of us, doesn't have to be long tags. And I guess it goes, Mai, Dark, Keith, Mao etcetc.

He flew, the smoke making way before his black feathered wings. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a familiar figure disappearing into a warehouse.
Unsummoning his wings, he walked slowly and as unthreateningly as possible towards the empty building.

Dispelling the psychic barrier shield, he stood there for a bit.
"She wont stop until she sees her father."
His voice was calm as he stepped behind him. "You shouldn't risk going in and getting burned like that."

Mao didn't really need to be here. His power would be useless in this situation and he was far too small to be of any other use. However, considering the outcry against Contractors on the network, it was better that one of their number was present for this. They didn't need to be seen as any more callous than they already were.
The fact that Mai had become something he could possibly call his friend didn't factor in at all.

"Don't hurt, Mai -- don't - "
A brush of fire followed her plea, swirling upwards in the middle of the room, though luckily not close enough to harm her rescuers.

"I know that. What would you-," He flinched at the sudden rise in temperature. "Talk fast. We don't have time."

Then, with a hand extended towards him, he focused, on both him and Mai, within, drawing from her memories, and concealing Dark in what was a holographic psychic form resembling her father.
"Go inside." He advised quietly. "Act as he would."

The glow of his hands went away and he stepped back towards Mai.
He took slow steps, measuring his stride. Stopping a few meters away, Dark found his throat dry.
"Mai."

What Mai saw was not the familiar features of Dark, but rather that which she had been seeking these two past days: her father. Perhaps if she was in the right mind, Mai would have question how he father had so coincidentally appeared before her, but what mattered now was only that he was here - tangible in every way.
Her voice was faint, nearly breathless while small hands reached forward as if inviting an embrace.
