Summary; Harry meets Vivian at the Raven so that she can see vampires first hand.
Harry sat at a booth towards the from of the club that allowed him to sit with his back against the wall while still remaining close to the entrance. The Raven was a relatively safe haven, especially considering who owned it, but old habits died hard and the wizard disliked having his back to so many vampires and other unsavory creatures or being so far from an exit.
Still, it was probably the best place for Vivian to learn about vampires, seeing as it was a somewhat safe environment while still coming somewhat close to a vampire's natural habitat. He wouldn't risk Vivian in any more dangerous setting than this. As courageous and resourceful girl and she was, the wizard didn't want to see her go up against vampires. What really worried him though was her sudden interest in vampires. The nature of her question to him over the network hardly seemed like casual interest. It was something more like need born of desperate circumstances.
So when she showed up, Harry was going to make sure he got the full story out of her no matter how stubborn about it he had to be.

Still the thought of observing vampires in their element and Anita Blake at work proved an irristable lure: Werewolf bait if ever there was one. Curiousity being a powerful force, it was arguably one of the forces that moved Vivian's left foot over her right. She’d stayed ouf the light and followed the instructions Harry have given her. Alert eyes shifting this way and that, glinting gold once or twice in the moonlight, but otherwise a normal enough commute.
As she slipped pass the bouncer at the door and weaving through the bustling crowd, realizing Anita was not here she felt a twinge of regret or maybe that was something else that made her bristle so, but ever mindful of the feelings swirling around her senses like a malstorm Vivian pushed pass, only pausing a moment when she spotted Harry.
With a slight acknowleding wave, she joined his table but not without a suspecious glance over shoulder. Couldn’t shake the hair-bristling feeling of eyes following her. "Waiting long?" the young blond charmed with an apprehensive smile as she eased down into the seat across from the wizard.

"Not long at all," he told her with a grin, standing up for a moment as she sat down. "This should be a relatively safe place. A lot of vampires come here but the owner doesn't tolerate anything remotely violent."
While this may have been Rayne's establishment, this didn't put him entirely at ease. Vampires were still vampires even when they were playing nice.
"While vampires apparently vary from world to world there are a few common things. Preternatural speed and strength all seem to be common. I'm pretty sure you can tell by the way they move and can tell which ones here are human and which ones aren't."

Remotely violent? "Comforting," she grimly mused with a glint in her eye. "So long as they don't rip someone open like a soda tab, I'll manage."
Vivian twisted her head, those blue green orbs shifting, seamlessly sifting through the crowd to visually confirm the wizard's information. Yeah, though she couldn't detect seem them the faint smell of old death and supped blood hung around the room like smoldering wisps of smoke checked out; then there were small tells, more subtle movements- movements ordinary humans were incapable of. No, not with that level of grace, she concluded.
"Yeah, I see 'em alright." Reaching into her pockets, Vivian fished and concealed the objects, slid forward in her chair, leaned across the countertop, and placed the tokens in the palm of his hands before gently closing his fingers over them. It was the amulets: the protection against vampires Vivian cryptically requested before her impromptu exodus. Ever proud, the headstrong young woman was returning the charms to the charmer. She was resolved to arm herself with knowledge of this unknown threat, arm and use it to protect her friends, and Vivian would not be dissuaded otherwise.
"So what else should I know?"
