Log;

Funny how the City worked, it had been almost exactly a week since she had given birth to William. Now James had returned. She had been sadden when he vanished but hoped that he found peace. Somehow it seemed rather cruel that he was brought back with no memory. It was as if all the conversations they had shared in the City never took place. They were in fact starting over again.

Even if he did not remember it was still James. The man who had sacrificed his life to save hers. She would always be grateful to him. Although her heart belonged to Will, James still held a special place there. It was the friendship she felt for him that drove her out into the cold night air to look for him. The carousel was not so far from Tia's place and she knew her son would be safe with Tia.

It was not long before the square came into view and she saw the spinning of the carousel.

Oh, how his world was changing. Death, this city, even the constant things he once knew were suddenly so strange-- Elizabeth, married to Will Turner, with child! Staying with what Barbossa had called a Swamp Witch; her father would not approve but he dare not bring it up, unsure if it was still a sensitive subject or even if he'd been entirely forgiven.

A swell of unanswered and mostly bitter emotions rose as the carousel came into view, and he tried to push them as far away as he could, making a mantra out of 'She's married and she has a child,' and it was only when she finally came into view that it sunk in with painful precision. He urged forth a relieved smile, "Elizabeth..."

"I'm fine," he assured, impulsively pulling her into a fond embrace, to which he quickly recanted and pulled back to arms length. Seeing her up close reassured him, to some degree, that at least she looked the same-- and the way she said his name, that had not changed, either.

"I'm fine, you-- you look..."

A weight felt lifted, suddenly, as it came to James that he had, through extrodinary circumstances, managed to keep his promise. He said he would come, back on the Dutchman, and though he could not then, he was here now. His smile softened and he continuing, "Wondeful. Congratulations."

His eyes swayed to where she squeezed then back up, nodding, "As you. You look well."

Pausing, he glanced back over his shoulder, "I would not consider myself a considerably paranoid man, but this place," he then looked to the carousel, "This thing, and the creatures that could be lurking-- You'd know better than I, but I'd prefer to see you safe before we get caught up trading stories."
