When; Evening of December 14th Rating; R Characters; Edward, Anita, Belle, Asher Summary; The first in person meeting between Edward and Belle Log;A meeting between old friends and new foes.
Anita followed closely, a few steps back and to the opposite side of Asher. She was dressed almost like she usually was, no matter how the others were. Privately, she hoped it galled Belle some, and she knew it used to bug Asher, but she wasn't one to willfully change so easily. A dark leather jacket concealed the majority of her arsenal, but anyone that knew her knew it was there.
As the group approaches, they see a figure leaning against a tree, a lit cigarette in his mouth. In one hand, a freshly oiled gun (which smells of Millennium for those with the senses to detect it) in the other, a thin silver device, with his thumb pressed hard against it.
When he looks up and sees the others approaching he spits out the cigarette, puts it out with his foot and push himself up against the tree. As the group approaches closer the catch the whiff of plastic explosives.
"That's close enough." His voice rings out in the silence of the forest night.
It was Asher's first thought. It was also his second.
His third was concern that Belle would be injured and take it out on all around her. Fourth was Anita.
For a vampire as old as he was, concern for his life was much farther down the list than was normal. He had more than a nodding acquaintance with Despair at this point, after all.
He stopped in his place behind Belle and waited, silent, his usual arrogance pasted on his face like the mask it was.
At Edward's warning, Belle continued forward another few steps, allowing the trail of her gown to fall behind her. "How very rude to threaten the other members of your party. I had hoped for a friendly meeting. Delightful measures."
She tilted her head, a slow smile curling up the corners of a very red mouth. Her finger rested against her cheek, almost thoughtful, "I will allow you to try a more proper greeting." Like a snake the ardeur was starting to uncurl within her, slowly spreading.
There was nothing in Anita's eyes but Edward. She knew him well enough to know he wasn't one to bluff, but she also knew what Belle was thinking to do. Things could and more than likely would get hectic very quickly.
She paced off to one side, keeping her attention on Edward, until she stopped just close enough to catch a good whiff of what he was carrying.
Edwards eyes remain slightly lowered, looking at the chests of the three on the other side of the clearing. He holds the gun low, and the silver detnotator up.
"I have several pounds of explosives tapped to my body, and have no compunction against causing them to explode. The proximity of the explosion will be several hundred feet, and I highly doubt that even Anita could outrun the explosion. I am here because Anita asked me to talk to you. So talk."
Edward felt the beginnings of the Arduer, and began to tighten and loosen his grip on the gun, his desire to kill the monsters in front of him growing.
Asher could hear the truth in the man's words, but in the end, he was only human fast, only human strong, and he was facing a Council Member. Anita's will had not stood before Belle's. This man was a fool if he thought his could.
Her smile widened, showing the sharp points of fangs, delight glittering in her eyes. "How very forceful," She said, meeting his eyes, her own the color of honey. "Do you really think your little explosion would harm Belle Morte?"
A throaty laugh and the tantalizing jiggle of bosom, "Death. I have a position for you, a job, if you will. Rumor says you only hunt the most dangerous game. And I, I know one that no hunter has ever bested."
For once, Anita was silent. She honestly didn't want to be in the middle of this, so she figured it was safest to keep her mouth shut and stay out anyone's thoughts.
"Go ahead." When she had attempted to meet his, he quickly shifted his to the side, not daring to look her in the eyes. Instead, he shifted his eyes to Anita, where they changed from the hard blue to a softer color, one Anita hadn't seen before.
Eyes narrowed ever so slightly, her tone a bit sharper, more petulant, letting him know where his attention should linger, "The Mother of All Darkness. The original vampire. Are you interested now?"
And allowed the ardeur to reach further, touching all present. Sadistic fuck.
A slim eyebrow rose when she noticed the look Edward was giving her. It wasn't one she'd seen before and her curiosity got the better of her. Her head tilted a little; a silent question before an all too familiar rush crawled over her nerves.
Edwards eyes go from the softer blue back to hard as soon as Belle spoke, "Yes."
The hand holding silver detonator began to lower when the feelings of intense desire began to increase and Edward unintentionally began to respond to it, the bun by his side beginning to rise, twitching as it rose slowly.
Edward breathed slowly, trying to relax, but his heart wouldn't stop racing.
"I can't Anita...." Edwards eyes darted between the other three, until they stopped while he was looking at Belle, "And I don't know that I want to..."
Belle laughed again, this time it was tangible, like body-warmed silk brushing intimate flesh. She did move, behind Anita this time, matching the other woman's height thanks only to the heeled shoes.
"You want to put the gun down, Death," Belle murmured, brushing Anita's hair away from her neck, leaning in to press lips to flesh, one pale hand snaking around to grope a breast through Anita's clothes, pressing Anita's back to Belle's front, the other looking for the closure to Anita's shirt.
The breath she'd been holding escaped with a harsh gasp the moment she felt Belle behind her. The ardeur flared hot under her skin, making her hands clench into tight fists. Her eyes were locked on Edward as she abesntly tilted her head, allowing Belle all the room she might want.
Careful teeth bit down on her bottom lip, keeping any other noises at bay.
"I wouldn't have killed the old Anita like this...but you...I have no problem killing you like this. You've changed Anita...you're not the same challenge as you were."
Edward inhales again, and his gun comes up, pointed directly into Anita's eyes.
With a low growl, she pulls herself away from Belle, her attention locked on Edward. The beasts inside her clamour for release, and she silences them all with a vicious twist of her own power and will, then closes her eyes. A brief moment, then they reopen again, back to the dark brown.
"I will not be played with or put in the middle of this. Ed, you wanna shoot me, then fucking shoot me. Better make it a damn good first shot because I'll heal pretty much fuckin' anything."
There's a sharp shake of her head, as if to clear her mind.
"And you need to turn that shit off, Belle. I can't fucking think when I'm like that."
"You wish to partake in the most dangerous hunt, or am I mistaken?" Belle asked, tilting her head again, an eyebrow raised. "If you so desire to hunt under my banner, then you will be mine. For a time, at least."
Moves towards Anita again, lips pursing in a mou for but a second, then reverting to her sensual pout, "One does not turn anything off, Anita."
She makes a point to shoot Belle a look, but it's not as stern as it could be. Not with the ardeur still tugging at her. "Then put a lid on it for now. It can be fed later."

Edward pauses and looks down at his gun, his eyes widen in shock as he heard the words from his mouth.
"What in the-" Edwards eyes narrow and he looks up towards Belle, "What are you doing?"
Edwards gun arm slowly lowers, and raises spasticly as he fights the magic of Belle's Ardeur, temporarily regaining control.

"I shall be taking my leave now, we have nothing else to talk about. If anyone follows me, I will detonate these explosives. Good-bye Belle."
Edward looks at Anita, and his eyes turn that softer shade of blue again, "....Good-bye Anita...." His voice has an obvious undercurrent of regret.
The man begins to slowly back away from the others, keeping his eyes shifting between all three of them.
