Log:

With the sun's refusal to set, D's body compensated by drawing him deeper into sleep. It would have been easy for a stranger to mistake the hunter for a vampire or a fresh corpse if they happened upon him. With skin cool to the touch, a heart barely beating, and lungs drawing only a token offering of air, D barely fell within the physical parameters required of the living. His parasite had grown tired of the inactivity several hours ago, and finally decided that the best way to pass the time without leaving his watch was to burrow into his host's body and take a nap. He'd feel it if D started to overheat, but he didn't think the problem was likely to arise unless the curse continued into the next day.

There wasn't really a reason to argue. By his own definition, D had overslept by several hours. Having a bit of a lie-in at his father's insistence wouldn't do any harm at this point. In fact, trying to get up might do more.
