There was no question. Even with the trial looming ever closer, Gabriel was going to attend the warden inauguration party. Formality was not a worry at all. The prospect of issue or pretrial confrontation on the other hand was a concern.

Boy Blue and The Corinthian were intelligent and tactful enough to not speak or bring to light any kind of incident. The rabble on the other hand, there was no telling that, the archangel thought dressing in a tailored tuxedo. A dress, though appealingly beautiful was not a favorite choice whatever contradiction the flesh had.

A night of fun, that was what Gabriel wanted, trivial and perhaps a shred of selfish but a possibility. Ah, well at least champagne.

It was almost instinctual that she was drawn to the woman; though that woman looked highly endogenous. She wasn't actually sure what the woman was. It was probably because she didn't know her, but she did want to meet her; since she hadn't yet.

That and it was probably her socialite instincts.

She made sure to keep an eye on Thomas - not because she felt he would be uncomfortable - he was probably just as easy in this situation as she was, it was more because, quite frankly she wanted to. She blamed it on her caretaker instincts.

When she reached the woman she offered a bright smile. "Hello; my name is Waverly."

A fresh face, how charming. "Hello, Waverly. I'm Gabriel," the angel answered, returning the smile. "Are you enjoying yourself this evening?"

She couldn't help the smile and the words that slid past her lips before she even knew she had said them. "The archangel of resurrection."

When she realized what she said she couldn't help blushing. She really was out of practice. Blurting out a thing like that. "I'm sorry; yes, I am, and yourself?"

It had been sometime since Gabriel heard a title like that. "Of many things, I prefer just Gabriel. Formalities are flattering but unnecessary." Those times have passed. Perhaps to return again.

"Apologies aren't needed." Another kind smile, "it's rather nice to step away from work and enjoy company and an evening." Sie sipped from the glass of champagne at hand.

Odd, the woman took her words as if they were actually a description of herself. Well, there was the possibility - people came from all places here. Besides, after meeting Lucifer she didn't discount anything of heaven, hell or in between anymore.

She nodded to the second part. "It is. An evening of enjoyment can be worth many days of rest. Please forgive my asking, but what is it that you do here in the City?"

The archangel would rather not discuss work, but with a sigh sie politely answered, "I tend to the chapel. Tony's. Come spring there shall be a beautiful garden. He doesn't care much for too much redesign. God's natural wonders can be displayed instead. Roses and thorns."

A sweet sort of smile crosser her lips when she told about the roses. It sounded breathtaking - especially taking into account the architecture of the building itself.

"It sounds as if it will be breathtaking. What color roses have you chosen?"

"I am still in the process of planning the layout. I know there are accomplished landscapers and floral enthusiasts within the City that could be willing to help. I'm planning on red, white, and yellow roses. Other flowers as well. Lilies, naturally." Oh yes, that Longbottom lad would be ideal.

"Ah, I've only done a little gardening - but should you like it I'd be more then willing to assist." She never was one not to offer her help to something. It was a good way to learn and become acquainted with someone.

"Sabine may be a good person to contact. She supervised the replanting in Xanadu."
