Summary; the story of the royal kangaroo and her knight.
Log;

It felt like she had wasted her whole life away in that small room in the Opera House. It felt that only now had she finally breathed true air. She took as deep a breath as she could muster but it still could not fill the empty spaces. She snorted in annoyance, dropping herself onto the bench. What else was there to do? What else could she do to stop them from forgetting. Had they forgotten her already?

Just as expected. Yet having expected it did not make it any easier to ignore. She gathered her knees in an embrace, curled up in a fetal position on the bench. No one noticed. No one cared. They just walked by her as if they could not see her. They see her only when she is glorious, only when she is a victor. The loser deserved no passing glance.

She was not a loser. She was not. Having no opponent doesn't make a warrior less worthy.

A man on a bike rode by, throwing an empty can which clanked loudly over to her bench. She stared at it for a few moments, as if considering. Then she let go of her legs to kick the can with as much power as she could gather.

Just as the kicked can finally landed from that strong kick, it disappeared into a puff of what appeared to be smoke, flowers, and fireworks. A strange, multi-colored hair and leather jacket wearing girl stood there as the smoke finally dissipated. She brought up a finger to her chin and taped it, looking over at Asuka.

"yOu LooK, um, bOred. Or aNgRy." There was something odd about the way the girl spoke. It was as if you could feel the colors and randomness in her voice. She tottered over to the red head, leaving sparkles and butterflies in her footsteps. "waNt a BaLLoOn? i LikE bALLoonS. EspEcIaLLy fIsHiE oNes." Within a blink of an eye, she was now holding two strings, which were attached to two flying fish. They seemed quite alive, despite being out of water, and began swimming around in the air.

After so long living in the City, such happenings were more or less common but something told her that this time was different. She blinked once, twice, at the magic tricks the girl was spouting out. Asuka had no change to give her, and besides, she did not seem like other street performers, the ones whose tricks were so easy to see through. Those fishes seemed real. Still, Asuka was in no mood for humoring little girls, with or without flying fishes.

"If I take one, will you go away?" She asked, the annoyance clear in her voice. She hoped the balloon fish was harmless.

Delirium frowned, and strangely enough, so did the fish. "oH. weLL, iF YoU dOn'T LikE tHem, yOu dOn'T hAve To taKe onE. i jUst waNted tO cHeeR yOu uP."

Despite her current form, she did enjoy seeing people happy. Deep down, Delight still lived on.. even if it was just a small fragment.

Asuka wanted the girl to leave; whoever said 'misery loves company' was lying, or maybe this was not misery. She did not care either way. Despite it however, she offered the girl a hand, hesitant, she had a feeling that upsetting her would not be a good idea. "Give me one."

...the girl had silver stuff dancing in her eyes. This must be a dream.

Although she knew something was still wrong, the smile returned to Delirium's face. She happily handed one of the fish "balloons" to Asuka.

"uM. iF yOu stAy LiKe tHat, yOu mIgHt aTtract My sIsTer." She paused, thinking for a moment, "mY eLdesT siSTer wOuLd saY soMethiNg LiKe 'You need to smile more or your face will get stuck like that!'" Yeah. That sounded like Death. Delirium nodded to herself, satisfied with the quote.

"My face is fine," Asuka said, the anger back in her voice. She looked suspiciously at the fish balloon trying to fly away from her. Sighing, she leaned back on the bench. It felt like such a long day, or maybe it was because these past weeks felt like one unending day. She needed something to make this day stop.

The girl was still there, looking happier and less likely to leave. What a bother. "Go sit if you want."

"oH. nO. tHat's oKay. ThaNk yOu." She looked up at her own balloon as she left go of the string, watching the fish fly up to the sky.

Now that Delirium realized it, it was harder to cheer up people like this. Her influence wasn't enough anymore.

She turned back towards Asuka and asked an ever so innocent question; "dO yOu wAnt To PLay a GaMe?"

Asuka let go of her angry face. She shouldn't take out her anger on an innocent kid, who was nice enough to give her a fish balloon, whatever a fish balloon is. After all that had happened, she should at least have learned that well. She twitched the corner of her lips in a pathetic attempt at a smile. "Sure."

Oh, this pleased Delirium. She giggled excitedly, her hair changing styles and colors. The fish balloon Asuka was holding onto spun around in a circle.

"oKay. wE're gOinG tO PLay mAkE bELiEve. ThiS cIty wILL Be haPPy fUzZy LaNd. yOu cAn be tHe PrInCesS. bUt i wAnt yOu tO CLoSe yoUr eYes fOr TeN secOnDs anD. uM. try To iMagiNe as hArd as yOu cAn."

Okay... Asuka tried her best not to make her 'are you stupid?' face at the girl. She seemed like one of those types that could, and would, change you into a frog when annoyed. "What will you be?" Maybe she could just talk to the girl about the game instead of playing it. Considering the girl's affinity for sparkles, being a princess in her game of make believe would destroy Asuka's credibility once and for all.

"tHe rOYaL kAnGaRoO." She nodded again. Then an idea hit her, since Asuka didn't seem the type to want to be a princess. "ooH~ oR, yOu cOuLd bE a kNiGht. aNd deFeNed tHe cAstLe."

Asuka was now sure that this was no dream. There was no way any of her dreams could be so strange. What was it the girl said? Royal kangaroo? No, this must be reality, the 'stranger than fiction' sort of thing. "I'll be a knight," she said, nodding in agreement. "Where's the castle?"

Del spun around on her heel, glancing around the area for a good castle. "tHat gAzeBo oVer tHere." She pointed over to one in Xanadu. Simple, but it'd work.

"Alright~" She stood up from the bench, placing both her hands on her hips. "Now then Royal kangaroo, what can this knight do for you?"

If nothing else, she could at least pass the time. Before she would never even imagine doing this for a kid, but things have changed and she needed to take whatever was thrown her way. The girl didn't seem like a brat, anyway. The castle was only a gazebo. Once she had protected the world. The world, mind you. Now it was a gazebo. Better than nothing, right?

"yOu nEed tO pRoTect tHe cAstLe frOm tHe iNtruDers!"

Once again, in the blink of an eye, the City was transformed into a bright and sparkly snow world. The gazebo was now a beautiful ice castle, shimmering in the sunlight. Everything seemed peaceful, quiet.. so what could she have meant by intruders?

There came a sound from the bushes surrounding Xanadu. In a matter of seconds, out came hundreds of overly cute plushies. Some dressed as mythical beasts, others as barbarians. Although it was a very serious matter, Delirium couldn't help but giggle.

Asuka raised one eyebrow at her words, but she had no time to say a thing before the whole City suddenly... sparkled. Maybe it was not such a good idea to humor a random stranger in a City like this one, no matter how generous or harmless they may seem. She spun around to turn at the girl who caused it, to tell her off, to shout, scream, throw a tantrum like she usually did. But no sound came out of her mouth as hundreds of dolls suddenly appeared before her. They seemed harmless enough (at first) like the girl (at first) but then she spotted one particular doll.

It was her. That thing her mother replaced her with. Eyes widened, she stopped in her tracks, unsure of what to do. Then, in a single thoughtless gesture, Asuka ran over to it and kicked it onto the ground. Her eyes were vicious, blood-hungry (stuffing-hungry?)

"oH gOoDiE!" The youngest Endless clapped, "i'LL LeaVe tHe dEfeNdIng tO yOu~" She smiled and headed for the castle, slowly disappearing as she walked away from the angered red head.

A pity Delirium didn't realize the serious mistake she just made. Or perhaps she did, and just wanted to see how things would turn out. It was difficult to tell what was on her mind.

Asuka hardly noticed the girl leaving. The plushie was refusing to die. A thought came to her mind: can inanimate things die? It was not fair if they can't. She hated dolls. Pretending to be humans. Pretending to be better. But in the end, they were just dolls, right? Right?

Screaming angrily, she kicked the plushie on the face. She thought she heard a cracking sound, but she knew it was just her imagination. It was finally quiet, lying there on the sidewalk with its stuffing scattered around it. She sighed in accomplishment, but stopped as she caught sight of another one, and another, and another. Without thinking, she launched herself on them.
