Cadman leaned a hip against the wall and pushed up on her toes, stretching out the kinks of the day.
"Damn, I had forgotten how much work gardening can be. Haven't had call do any in quite a while."
She tilted her her head questioningly. "You found a job yet, Yuffie? I got this gardening one for three more days... after that, I'm gonna have to start lookin' again."

She stretched and then pulled herself into a handstand against the back of the couch. It felt pretty solid, so she lifted one of her hands off the ground, but wound up rolling into a crouch.
"So, what did you do back in your world, anyway?" She asked as she stood.
no subject
Cadman whistled, low and impressed. "Damn, Yuffie. I'm no slouch in the physical department, but I couldn't do that if I wanted to." She tilted her head and watched as Yuffie rolled into a crouch and popped back up. "Damn," she repeated, more quietly this time.
Done stretching, Cadman slid down the wall, folding her one leg underneath her when she reached the ground, the pulling the other up and resting her chin on it. "I was a Lieutenant in the Marine Corps." Then, after a beat, "We're part of my country's military. If you listen to the fuckin' zoomies, the cannon fodder part."
Apparently, even being this far away from any US Air Force personnel doesn't stop the rivalry.
IfIWhen she gets back, she'll have to let the guys know jarhead loyalty is still in place even here.no subject
She moved toward Cadman and slid down the wall to sit beside the taller woman.
"Uh, what's a Marine? And a zoomie?"
Oh, and that was right, Yuffie needed to hand over the apartment key. She reminded herself to do that.

She grinned. "Which is true some'a the time, can't deny, but when you want shit done, you call a Marine." She laughed. "Oo-fuckin'-rah."

She stood abruptly, not liking the feeling that she'd been totally ignoring her own back yard.
"Soooo, since your the backbone of the Army," she paused long enough to turn and face Cadman for a cheeky grin, then turned and cartwheeled away. "Does that mean you get to play with explosives?"
There was nothing odd about how hopeful her voice sounded when she said 'explosives.' Of course not.
no subject
"Sweetheart, I specialized in explosives." She laughed and rolled her eyes. "Technically, I was in the business a' disarmin' 'em, but I always figured I should learn just as well how to put 'em together."
She raised an eyebrow. "Any particular reason you'd be askin', Miss Yuffie?"
...Not like she hadn't gathered from Yuffie's tone of voice her reason for asking, but hey. Cadman's the name; deviling people's the game, and all that.

She grinned. "Y'know, where I'm from, we just plain like bombs and firecrackers and shit. They're signs of celebrations and ward off evil spirits." The smile vanished. "After Shinra came and left, we started lighting 'em off every night. But the city never felt the same again."
Which was far more than she ever said about Wutai to people who didn't already know it all.
She pulled into a standing position without using her hands and turned to Cadman. "You got any clue what you WANT to do?"
no subject
Shinra, hmm? Cadman filed the name to think about; something told her asking Yuffie to explain'd be about as useful as a three-legged racing horse at this point.
Cadman shrugged at Yuffie's question. "Ain't so much about what I want as what I can get right about now. Wouldn't mind tendin' bar or cookin', though..." She shrugged. "Like I said, work's work at this point. Can't much afford to be picky."

There didn't seem like there would be TOO many uses for them, but you never knew, with entertainment. And besides, fireworks could also, if you stretched, mean firearms and maybe even light explosives. Both of which would be very likely to sell in this climate.

"Hey, Cadman," he called. "Open up!"

"Selene somebody-or-another is lookin' for people to-" Cadman broke off when Dean knocked on the door.
"Hold on a sec, Yuffie. That'll be Dean Winchester; he's dropping by some ammo for me."
She pushed of the ground without using her hands- not as easily as Yuffie had, she noted with a tinge of jealousy, but not too bad all the same- and headed to the door.
She opened it and grinned. "Heya, Winchester. You still lookin' for a job?"
no subject
She waited politely--well, quietly, anyway--for Dean to enter and Cadman to continue.

He strode into the apartment, and had a glance around. "Nice place you girls have got, here," he said, nodding his approval. He smiled at Yuffie, holding out a hand. "Hey," he said. "I'm Dean."
no subject
She nodded. "Yeah, I got somethin'. Selene-somebody-or-another wants me to put together a team; seems she's startin' up a business stagin' fights, and she wants me to round up people to go Underground and fetch her some nasties." She shrugged. "It ain't exactly savin' kittens from trees, and I'm not sure if it;s entirely on the up-and-up, but the pay is good."
She checked her laptop screen. "I'll be getting 150 violets as a signing bonus, and half a month's rent per capture; the people on my team'll get 75 violets upfront, then quarter of a month's rent per beastie after that. She says she'll outfit us before we start outta her pocket, no limits given."
She raised an eyebrow. "This is capture only, Winchester. You gonna be down with that? 'Cos let me tell you now, if you play McClane with my fuckin' paycheck when it comes time to kill or capture, we're gonna have words."
no subject
He considers. It doesn't sound like a bad deal--not easy work, but nothing he's not used to. "Doesn't sound bad," he said. "I'm not exactly used to the local currency--I'm guessing that's not bad?"
no subject
Cadman nodded. "Not too bad 'bout sums it up. From what I can tell, rent's usually somewhere in the indigos; violet's just one step below that. And the more nasties we bring in, the better it gets."
Cadman looked at Dean consideringly. "You have any suggestions a' people who'd be interested in helping? A few more people than less seems like a good idea for this one." She folded her arms across her chest. "And keep in mind, while I ain't exactly plannin' on playin' this like a fascist state, I lead this one. You think someone's gonna hare off and fuck up my op, you keep 'em away. I'm not gonna go ultimate power on y'all, but I'm callin' the shots, and I don't need some bitch playin' grabass to take issue with that."
no subject
He thought about that. Asking Sam was a given, since he'd be cluing his brother in to what he was up to, anyway. Beyond that, though... "Sorry. Besides Sam, I barely know anyone--and I'm not sure he'll want in on it. I'm not even sure I'll want in on it. What exactly are we catching, here?"
no subject
Cadman shugged. "We're catchin' whatever we want to, whatever we can. I'm guessin' Selene may want some specifics nasties once'n a while, but seems to me we catch a beastie, deliver it, then get paid. Easy as pie."
She sighed. "Look, I'm not gonna ride your ass about this, but you and I both know it's good money we both could use... and beyond that, I'd like you at my back. Ain't no use doing this with a team I don't trust."
no subject
Because he did need the money, and this would give him some information about the area--and he liked Cadman well enough that he didn't want her doing a thing like that without him at her back. He knew better than to own up to that, though. "So, when are we playing zookeeper?"
((Dean's actually really awful at taking orders. Or working on a team--but he'll be alright. Just give him some task he'll be good at and let him do it? And don't mind it when he mouths off, 'cause he probably doesn't mean it? ^^;;))
SUP GAIZ. DON'T MIND ME.
Capturing hadn't been her thing, back home. But then again, not much of what was here had been her thing. So why not branch out and NOT kill shit, for a change?
