Log;

Cadman leaned a hip against the wall and pushed up on her toes, stretching out the kinks of the day.

"Damn, I had forgotten how much work gardening can be. Haven't had call do any in quite a while."

She tilted her her head questioningly. "You found a job yet, Yuffie? I got this gardening one for three more days... after that, I'm gonna have to start lookin' again."

Yuffie shook her head. "Haven't really been looking. Picking pockets is easy, you know?"

She stretched and then pulled herself into a handstand against the back of the couch. It felt pretty solid, so she lifted one of her hands off the ground, but wound up rolling into a crouch.

"So, what did you do back in your world, anyway?" She asked as she stood.

Yuffie was always glad to impress people, but she waved it off. That wasn't important right now.

She moved toward Cadman and slid down the wall to sit beside the taller woman.

"Uh, what's a Marine? And a zoomie?"

Oh, and that was right, Yuffie needed to hand over the apartment key. She reminded herself to do that.

Yuffie blinked. What she knew of the Shinra military had never had anything like that, except maybe SOLDIER. And she didn't exactly pay attention to how the WRO organized its armed forces; she mentally divided them into three groups: berets, sock-heads, and bare-heads. That sufficed for her.

She stood abruptly, not liking the feeling that she'd been totally ignoring her own back yard.

"Soooo, since your the backbone of the Army," she paused long enough to turn and face Cadman for a cheeky grin, then turned and cartwheeled away. "Does that mean you get to play with explosives?"

There was nothing odd about how hopeful her voice sounded when she said 'explosives.' Of course not.

"'Cos we've got the PERFECT demolitions site two doors down? Endless desert."

She grinned. "Y'know, where I'm from, we just plain like bombs and firecrackers and shit. They're signs of celebrations and ward off evil spirits." The smile vanished. "After Shinra came and left, we started lighting 'em off every night. But the city never felt the same again."

Which was far more than she ever said about Wutai to people who didn't already know it all.

She pulled into a standing position without using her hands and turned to Cadman. "You got any clue what you WANT to do?"

Yuffie thought for a moment. "What if I wanted to start a... a fireworks company?"

There didn't seem like there would be TOO many uses for them, but you never knew, with entertainment. And besides, fireworks could also, if you stretched, mean firearms and maybe even light explosives. Both of which would be very likely to sell in this climate.

"That'd be pretty hard. But if we both saved up and made explosives in our spare time, we might be able to make it work." She looked one way, then another. "And if we sold, you know, more interesting stuff than fireworks, it'd totally go pretty good." A pause. "Unless we got busted by the cops."

Dean had to wander around the building for a few minutes, until he managed to find the right apartment number. He knocked on the door.

"Hey, Cadman," he called. "Open up!"

[identity profile] kisaraginights.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yuffie watched the exchange, one hand automatically inching toward the Four-Point strapped to her back. It was a habit she'd acquired during the Meteor Crisis: anyone you couldn't see, you couldn't trust. Be prepared to take out Shinra at any time. The Deepground Incident had only strengthened that conviction.

She waited politely--well, quietly, anyway--for Dean to enter and Cadman to continue.

"Wouldn't say no to some work, no," he said. "Why? You've got something?

He strode into the apartment, and had a glance around. "Nice place you girls have got, here," he said, nodding his approval. He smiled at Yuffie, holding out a hand. "Hey," he said. "I'm Dean."

[identity profile] aferventfraud.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
He raised an eyebrow. "I think you've got the wrong idea about me, Cadman," he said. "I'm a lot of things, but trigger happy's not one of them."

He considers. It doesn't sound like a bad deal--not easy work, but nothing he's not used to. "Doesn't sound bad," he said. "I'm not exactly used to the local currency--I'm guessing that's not bad?"

[identity profile] aferventfraud.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
Dean waved his hands. "I don't have a problem with following your lead," he said, pretty sure by this point that he hadn't made the greatest impression on the lady. "Whatever you say, providing it's not stupid, you understand."

He thought about that. Asking Sam was a given, since he'd be cluing his brother in to what he was up to, anyway. Beyond that, though... "Sorry. Besides Sam, I barely know anyone--and I'm not sure he'll want in on it. I'm not even sure I'll want in on it. What exactly are we catching, here?"

[identity profile] aferventfraud.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Dean nodded, taking all that in. "Alright," he said. "I'm in."

Because he did need the money, and this would give him some information about the area--and he liked Cadman well enough that he didn't want her doing a thing like that without him at her back. He knew better than to own up to that, though. "So, when are we playing zookeeper?"

((Dean's actually really awful at taking orders. Or working on a team--but he'll be alright. Just give him some task he'll be good at and let him do it? And don't mind it when he mouths off, 'cause he probably doesn't mean it? ^^;;))

SUP GAIZ. DON'T MIND ME.

Yuffie crossed her arms but flashed the manic, toothy grin of all Kisaragi everywhere. "You guys mind if I join in? Or is this a two man gig?"

Capturing hadn't been her thing, back home. But then again, not much of what was here had been her thing. So why not branch out and NOT kill shit, for a change?
