Summary; In which Cadman is beat up all to hell and back, and Ash is Disgruntled.

Cadman laid flat on the couch in the dark; blinds drawn and room silent. She sighed deeply, then winced as her pained stomach muscles objected.

She licked at her lips; she'd have to find some sort of chapstick, because they were cracked and bloody, too painful to ignore once the bigger hurts subsided. She'd been unable to find any painkillers in the apartment, and she'd been too proud to ask Jack for any.

She sighed again, more carefully this time.

Ash knocked on Cadman's door, because even he's not crazy enough to walk in on a woman without doing so. Even when the woman is currently a man and he's a woman.

Cadman turned her head to look at the door, then groaned in frustration. She was not getting off the goddamn couch, she was not getting off the goddamn couch, she was not getting off the goddamn couch.

"What?" And okay, not exactly friendly right there, but whoever was at the door was just gonna have to suck it up and deal.

"Damn, that voice sure ain't what I expect on you, baby," Ash said. In a voice that very much wasn't his own, either.

Ash. Different voice than usual, yeah, but nobody else in the City was gonna come to her door and call her that. Cadman smiled; seein' Ash might be just what the doctor ordered. Her smile widened, then winced as her lower lip split again. "Fuck," she cursed, low and vehement.

She raised her head again. "Come on in, Ash. Door's open."

She flopped over on her back, staring up at the ceiling. Hopefully Ash wouldn't flip at her... admittedly, lookin' pretty beat up state.

Ash pushed open the door and did a double-take when he saw Cadman.

"Jesus, you walk in front of a train or something?" While the line was snarky, there was concern in his voice.

Cadman laughed humorlessly, a short bark that ended in a groan when her side let it be known that laughing was on the list of unapproved activities.

"Somethin' like that, Ash baby. Somethin' like that."

She slowly sat up, then patted the couch in invitation. "Here, come sit down. You can be my pillow. Maybe wipe my fevered brow for me."

"Do I want to know what happened?" Ash asked, wandering over to flop onto the couch.

Cadman maneuvered herself slowly so that she stretched across the couch on her back, her head in Ash's lap.

"Probably not, baby."

She sighed. "Got in a bit of a dust up earlier. No worries, darlin'. I'll be fine."

"With who, Mike Tyson?" Ash said. "I walked away from a siege looking better than you do right now."

Cadman tipped her head up to look at Ash. "I haven't looked in the mirror yet. That bad?"

And yeah, totally avoiding the question there, but what else was there to do?

She grabbed Ash's hand- weird role reversal there, her hand large and square, the fingers thick, and Ash's suddenly... if not delicate, then at least small- and brought it to her lips, laid a small kiss on the palm.

"I'll be fine, darlin'. Hunt down some Advil, take a shower... I'll be good as new, promise."

"Those are gonna have to be some damn big advil," Ash said. His own voice sort of weirded him out right now, but he was getting used to it. Slowly.

"So much for that body pressing, huh?" he said with a soft... oh dear god, it came out as a giggle.

"Yeah, probably. But I'll find somethin'." And God, if she felt bad now, she was gonna be in a world a' hurt come tomorrow. Cadman briefly entertained hope that going back to her regular body would get rid a' all the damage; then she remembered the deities, and resigned herself to lookin' like the poster child for domestic abuse awareness.

She laughed and kissed Ash's hand again. "Dunno, baby mine. Give me a little time and some painkillers... maybe your beauty could be the cure to what ails me." Outrageous, over-dramatic tone on the last; this set a' lungs certainly lent itself better to dramatic booming more'n the last.

"Also: cute giggle, Ash."

"Yeah, yeah. It came with the... package," Ash said. "Don't want you straining yourself, though."

Cadman laughed softly. "Or lack thereof, baby mine."

She pressed another kiss to Ash's palm, then squeezed his hand gently. "We'll see what happens, baby. Would hate to spoil an opportunity like we got t'day 'cos my dumb ass managed to get my face rearranged for me."

She kissed Ash's palm again, then released his hand and tilted her chin up to look at Ash and grin. "Gimme some sugar, baby."

Ash went for it, but then had to pull away.

Cadman sighed regretfully- dammit, she was never gonna to get this body laid at this rate- then grabbed Ash's hand again, squeezed it gently.

"You know I ain't gonna make you do anythin' you don't want to, baby mine. So talk to me, Ash. What's goin' on in that head a' yours?"

Cadman shrugged.

"Fair enough; much as I appreciate the female form, I like you better without 'em."

She squeezed Ash's hand again. "I ain't gonna lie and say I wasn't lookin' forward to doin' some kissin', 'n maybe more, with you today; but suits me just fine to lay here and talk."

She rolled her eyes. "Not like I'd be up to anythin' athletic right about now anyway; gettin' my ass kicked but good- an' not in fun- tends to have that effect on me."

Cadman rolled her eyes and reached up to lightly- affectionately- whack the hand Ash was groping himself with.

Cadman rolled her eyes again. "Fuckin' cocktease."

It was said without heat, and she smiled up at him to remove any sting.

She grabbed his hand- okay, and maybe copped a feel in the process; she was hurt, not dead or a saint- and moved it to her head.

"You ain't gonna put out, then I demand a head rub. Pay up, baby mine."
