Summary; Spitfire meets up with Karin to discuss AT and show her a few tricks.
Log;
It was the perfect day for AT in the City. Anyone could tell Spring was coming. Spitfire hadn't even bothered wearing a jacket today, instead opting for a simple t-shirt. He'd found a good spot to pull a few wall-rides and ground runs; maybe an Upper Soul if he could. Sitting casually on a ledge, his eyes showed him the trick paths available to him. Today was quite possibly the first day he would ride AT simply for the sake of enjoying it. He wouldn't be limited by Parts War, Trophaeum, nothing. He was free to fly where the wind would take him.

Karin wasn't really one to go out and look for friends, but this guy didn't seem like a complete loser, so he had that going for him, and that put him far ahead of the majority of people she admitted to knowing.
"Yo!" she waved her free arm at him from about a 3 meter distance, picking the pace up to come to a running stop in front of him and present him with his belongings. "So, show me your moves," she said, AT outstretched toward him.
These things looked really cool. Hopefully it wouldn't be a disappointment.
And then, if they were just as cool as they looked, hopefully she could get some whiz-kid to duplicate them. The city was full of people and crazy geniuses, surely one of them could figure it out.

If there was one thing Spitfire liked about the Flame Road, it was the amount of expression one could put into their flame. Apart from passion, there was definitely a bit of bravado involved in pulling off any trick. He stretched a bit, contemplating what to start off with. Either the wall-climb or the Upper Soul would set him up perfectly for Flame Road.....
With a smile, he turned to Karin.
"Don't blink or you might miss it."
And with that, he launched himself at a nearby wall, pulling a small wall-climb before jumping off and arcing towards a nearby pole, executing a clean Upper Soul 23roll. The moment his wheels had touched the pole, flames and sparks began to shoot out from the ATs, wrapping around the pole like a fiery dragon ascending to the heavens.

Fire? Not so much.
He was a different kind of person, she decided. It wasn't the different kind of person that Ichi-nii was, or Toushirou, or the like, but he was different. Running around, trying to keep her eye on him at all times as instructed, not wanting to miss a moment of this unusual form of blading, of 'AT' use, as it were.
If she had a pair of those...
...well, she was getting ahead of herself, but still, it was nice to imagine.
That was pretty cool after all.
"Whoa," escaped her before she knew it, even as she crossed her arms and did her best to look not as impressed as she was. Karin was never a huge fan of flattery, giving or receiving.
"Think I could learn that if I got a pair of those?" she yelled, cupping a hand to her mouth to amplify her voice and using the other to brush her hair behind her ear. It wasn't longer than it had been when 'younger'/normal, but it wasn't as even...and therefore not as easy to control or keep out of her face.

"Hang on!" he shouted back, not preferring to converse mid-trick.
With that, he let himself fall back towards the earth. Without hesitation, he slid his wheels against the ground, creating friction.
Flame Road.
Admittedly, this trick was probably one of the more showy tricks out there, but that was how he liked it.
Finally coming to a stop, he looked at Karin with a smile. The illusionary blaze behind him taking its time to dissipate. Even in broad daylight, the effect was still somewhat impressive. Most people tended to think that there really were flames. In reality, it was only illusion created by the heat caused by friction between the wheels and the ground.
"With enough practice, you could even find your own road. If we can somehow get you a pair, and you're willing, I'll be more than happy to teach you what I can."

Karin would believe anything she chose to after all, whatever world she was in, and likewise with not believing. It wasn't about anyone's logic but her own.
But she'd like to hear his answer anyway.
"...I put out a call so," she checked for any voice replies briefly and shrugged, "...nah nothing yet, but someone'll jump on the chance to look at these, I bet, especially make 'em."

"The Flame Road is a speed-based road. It uses heat produced from the friction between the wheels of the AT and the ground to produce the illusion of flames. I'm rather impressed, most people who see the Flame Road for the first time think the flames are real."
He listened with interest as she mentioned putting out a call for someone to hopefully make a duplicate.
Nodding in agreement, he mused over whether or not it would be appropriate for her to have an exact duplicate. His AT's were, if anything, specified for speed riding. Any beginner would have trouble with the increased friction of the wheels--among other things.
"I'll look out for someone as well....If you do find someone, send them my way, there's a few things I'll probably need to discuss with them beforehand."

That all true, a small part of her admitted to admiring the skill with which he handled the AT whatever he called them....things.
Seeing spirits was just an annoyance, most of the time, for her.
This was more like a supernatural sport though, and that appealed to her greatly. It was cool and functional, and it looked like a lot of fun.
"I'm pretty athletic," she didn't quite boast, but stood up a bit straighter for it. "You probably wouldn't have to show me too much. I like to figure things out on my own," she said, and that was true enough.

He decided to not get too far into the details. Karin was, if anything, a clever girl. She probably understood what he was getting at already.
Without a doubt, Karin had an athletic build, and the last thing she mentioned pleased him greatly. Of course he wouldn't have to show her too much--unless she turned out to be a speed rider.
"Of course, otherwise Air Treck would be no fun at all."

"Exactly. Who wants to be told what to do or how to do it?" Here she shrugged with a loud sigh, arms behind her head as she paced around a bit. "Thanks for letting me borrow them," she added. "I know you could've said no, so," she left it at that. He had said yes and that was that. She was so accustomed lately to people warning her, to people ordering her to do this to be safe or stay here to not get in trouble, so used to being told 'no' in some form or another, that a 'yes' from a polite stranger was an unexpected relief.
Being a little older only made her more irritable about the situation with Ichi-nii, her speculations about their whole family, and her deductions about the entire mess, but this afternoon had been something completely set apart.
It was, crudely replaced in her mind, something in place of spending time with those sorry excuses for soccer players in her world--friends, perhaps, but still such wusses. No matter, they were her team, and in her own Karin way, she cared. Spitfire seemed like he could be that 'thing' that was separate from the madness of being danced around in her everyday life by everyone but Yuzu.
And she'd get some skills out of the deal, barring her inability to find a genius with time on his hands...or her hands, whatever.
"I wonder what my specialty would be," she mused half to herself, guessing on speed, but really not familiar enough with the AT to know what else there was to consider.

"I put together a reference of sorts for you. It's mostly term-related, but hopefully, it'll explain things."
Writing the reference had been much harder than he thought. Countless times he forgot that in the City, he was the only person with an in-depth knowledge of Air Treck. But Karin was clever, so hopefully, it wouldn't be too complicated for her.
"If there's anything in there that doesn't make sense, feel free to get in touch with me. I'll do what I can to explain it to you."

"That was nice of you," she said out loud before frowning at the fact that she had said it out loud....she didn't really enjoy complimenting people in any way, but this was warranted.
"Thanks," she repeated herself from earlier and nodded at his comment, glancing back at him thoughtfully as she walked away.
He was nice. Karin did not think this about many people, even those of relation.
She didn't think about thinking about it much anyway of course, flipping through the reference pages as she continued in the direction of their recently shifted apartment space.
