log: complete
When; April 5th, evening
Rating; G
Characters; Mitochondria Eve
first_mommy and Eve Brea
neomit_eve
Summary; Eve feels an unusual yet familiar power in the City and discovers who it belongs to.
Log;
Many thoughts rushed through Eve's head as she made her way to where the Aya alike was hiding. Why did she look like Aya? How was she created? Why was her power similar to her own? She couldn't be Maya. That would be impossible.. unless she was an alternate version?
The brunette pushed aside those pesky thoughts for now. Even if the girl was Aya's, she felt the need to protect her, and she knew quite well how dangerous the City could be.
She finally reached the building little Eve was near, downed her own powers and called out, hoping not to frighten the poor girl, "Child? It is safe to come out now."

For a moment she almost obeyed. Almost. Her eyes moved as the woman moved, never wavering, never stopping to see if there was another other danger coming from another direction. Drawing a deep breath, she swallowed the fear creeping up her throat anticipating the small seed of heat in her chest would begin to grow in tandom with however strong the other force became.
The phantom tug at her mind pulled harder, the mental energy of ‘another’ washing against her like a tide. Her inner resonance, told her to be wary, quiet, to anticipate danger rather than just watch out for it.

Eve held out her hand and smiled, trying to appear harmless. "I promise it's safe, my dear. Aya is not here, but I will do my best to look after you until you are reunited with her."

Looking sadly at the offered hand, the burden of not knowing where she was, where Aya could be, or if she’d be in big danger before her older sister came to collect her weighing down heavily upon her shoulders. Heeding the small coercive force added from within, whatever strand of common sense she had was put into storage for the time being.
“I have to wait here… I said.” Eve managed to force out nervously, as if testing the waters.
Teetering forward awkwardly, to move herself into a better observing position, her hand accidentally pushed one of the bottom boxes out into the open, the rest of those supported by it crashing down almost semi-comically.

".. Aya is not here, child. Not in this city. She may not be arriving for quite some time."
She put her hand back down to her side, "Please. It is dangerous to be in the City alone. I can provide you with food ans shelter."

“How…”
She began, looking down intermittently blinking away the deja vu tugging at her.
“How… How do you Aya?”
no subject
"She is my sister."
no subject
“But…”
The young blonde shook her head, steeling herself, No. The only other sister Aya had had, died many years ago. This woman infront of her couldn’t be Maya. Steadying her breathing, the smaller Eve waited until her heart beat slowed down and the tension in her gut eased.
“You can’t be Maya. Aya said she died when she was little.”
no subject
"Do you know of Aya's powers?"
no subject
Blinking in dazed confusion, raising an eyebrow as she tried to comprehend what the woman had said and what it actually meant Eve shrugged confusedly. She let the silence hang between them for a moment as her cells communicated, constructing mental reinforcements that would keep their host at least partially unaware of the ties to her own past, especially if it's former counterpart were to have much more knowledge.
“No… Aya didn’t have special powers.”
no subject
Somewhat frustrated, Eve sighed. ".. Do you sometimes hear a voice in the back of your mind?"
no subject
"Aya... told me they'd go away... Do you get them too?"
no subject
"I am that voice."
no subject
“If you can enter my head... What am I thinking…” she asked, her voice ending up little more than a whisper, as everything, fell totally silent. Eve stared at the older brunette in rapt concentration, wondering if she herself would be proven wrong.

The dazed expression on her face intensified as she tried to mentally tried to summon Aya into being, so she could understand.
"What? How...?"
no subject
Eve held out her hand again, "Listen to your innerself."

Another wave of vertigo hit her senses as the youngster fell back, dropping once more to the floor with a graceless 'thud'. Cradling her head as burning heat leapt from one cell to the next in instantaneous concession, Eve shook her head pointedly – a voice not quite her own having made the decision.
“I don’t want to evolve…”
no subject
.. So, she's just like Aya. Coexsisting peacefully..
".. I apologize then." She lowered her hand once more, feeling somewhat defeated.
no subject
"Who are you?"

“Eve? But I’m Eve…”
Setting unsteady hands on the ground below, pushing herself upright with a wince, the blonde regarded the ‘other’ Eve, with a perplexed pout.
no subject
"... Then you must be the third Eve?"
no subject
The inky, pervasive thought stirred some rather innate need. Third? She asked herself only accounting for two, affixing the more literal meaning to ‘Eve’.
“Third Eve?”
no subject
"What year is it where you're originally from?"
no subject
She replied listening to what the older ‘Eve’ had to say, troubled about the implications of there being different times.
Her mind visited her own recent past vaguely, recalling like a second hand account of an experience the first day she’d met Aya at the hospital.
Her mitochondria had given her no real thread of a past to allow Eve to realize she had become host for another essence; which explained, in its own, bizarre way, why she couldn't, wouldn't own up to being what she was.
no subject
She never thought she'd be suggesting this.. "If it makes you feel more comfortable, you may address me as Melissa."
no subject
The smile curling up Eve’s lips was a polite one, one she didn’t truly often use with company. She wasn't quite sure why she was using it really, but she was sure it conveyed some kind of relief.
“Three years after what Melissa.” she asked, inwardly semi-admonishing herself for the quick reaction to her inherent curiosity.
no subject
"After my.. passing."
no subject
Eve's smile remained, but seemed from her benevolently perplexed blue eyes, it was tainted with something a little more confused, as if the word spoken did not have a very clear meaning.
no subject
"My death."
no subject
Eve didn’t attempt to hide the surprise on her face. She was expecting Melissa to tell her about a test, a trying event, something… but this... Death was final, you couldn’t die and just come back – could you?
“But… I’m talking to you. You can’t be dead.” Eve stated, rubbing her hands compulsively along her pants trying to clean them off: a not very good distraction at best.
no subject
Atleast little Eve knew about death, but explaining how the City worked was going to be difficult. The brunette looked up at the sky. It was getting late. It was odd, feeling this dedicated to her decision, especially about someone who was a clone of her 'enemy'.. but Eve would wait all night if she had to if it meant gaining the girl's trust.
no subject
“What’s it called.” she asked. “Why can dead people live again?”
no subject

Eve sounded out, eyes still focused on the sky as if the word was written way up in the clouds.
This was... Somehow familiar, yet all to different to be anywhere she knew of. A flash of memory danced across her awareness, muddled by mitochondrial sentience, telling her that dark was not a good place to be.
“Are there… monsters here?”

Mentally crossing her fingers that she wouldn’t need to meet any such thing – especially a ‘mitochondrial creature’ something that in the youngsters mind created a fresh sensation of fear, younger Eve crossed her arms protectively over her chest.
“I don’t think I like this place.” She sulked looking into Melissa’s green eyes, despondently looking for some kind of answer, to a question she had yet to figure out. How would she protect herself.
no subject
Eve knelt down and held out her hand once more, "Understandable. It can be quite frightening here. But I will make sure no one hurts you, Eve. And I will protect you until you are reunited with Aya."
no subject
Curling her hand around the older Eve’s own wearily, her younger counterpart was surprised to find how warm it was; warmer than what hands should have felt like, but bearable.
“Promise” she asked naively, after all, Aya had said: everyone has to keep their promises.
no subject
"I promise."
