Log; OPEN TO ALL~

When; Aug 27, evening (forward-dated ._.;)
Rating; G
Characters; OPEN TO ALL
Summary; A gathering of music~ more info here!
Log;

The stage was set: a clear sky above and soft grass below.

Some who came early were already arranged in a semicircle, chattering quietly among themselves. One corner of the sky was dark blue dotted with stars while the other was soft glowing red from the setting sun. Yet quite suddenly, a great light seemed to have given way to dark as the light from the West quickly faded, revealing the night sky behind it.

Arwen, seated on a stool before the gathering, tuned her lute. Hearing it, the crowd hushed into silence.

"I will begin," she said in a clear voice. "Yet not for being the best, for I believe we shall hear music of greater beauty as the night goes on. So let anyone come and play us their music, and let none be interrupted while they are here.

"However, apart from this rule, you may do as you wish. Should one of us play a dance music, do we not dance? Should one of us sings a familiar song, do we not wish to join them in harmony? This night is not for the showing of skills but for the pleasure of music. So let us all be filled with it."

She tried each string of the lute before turning back to the audience with a smile. "I shall begin."

The night deepened, but even the trees were hushed, leaning forward to hear the sweet music.

[ooc: So, reply to main post if you're attending/taking the stage/going to talk to Arwen. Then others may reply to your thread if they attend your performance/going to talk to you, then keep replying to each other there so that it's not confusing ♥

Arwen's song is from the Rowallan Lute Book (17c) titled Gypsies Lilt, performed by William Carter of Palladian Ensemble. Btw, actual uploaded music aren't compulsory, it's just nicer~]

Rain was here, quietly curled up against a tree, well on the outskirts of the gathering.

The stars were beautiful and she wanted to hear what music people from this place would play and sing.

On the stage, sorry I'm late

Blue smiled a bit at all the music - even with the anonymity on the Network and the jumble in his head, he still enjoyed playing. And Arwen had a nice touch with lute that Blue didn't hear very often.

He played a soft harmony accompany in B-flat, on his usual trumpet.

He didn't want to take center stage but he knew a harmonization when he heard one, and so he lifted the base of his trumpet up and announced a reveille that would have made Bigby proud.

Tsukasa quietly listens to Arwen singing. She really did have a beautiful voice just as he originally guessed. He leans on a nearby tree and closes his eyes, feeling the night air dance to the sound of her voice.

Aragorn was there, waiting patiently for things to begin. While all of the performers were sure to be talented in some way, he was most looking forward to hearing Arwen play. It brought back a sense of home and comfort that he could not get elsewhere. Even in his own world there was nothing like it.

A night of music would do her good, Rosella had told herself the whole way to Xanadu; it'd be a fun, lighthearted diversion. Just what she needed. Still, upon her arrival, she kept mostly to the sidelines, watching and listening to the proceedings.

After a little while, she pulled her borrowed flute from the pack on her back and blew a few experimental notes before beginning to softly accompany the current performers.

[OOC: The song she's going to play is Dove's Figary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qPNSjAKdPg), the first song on the video (it ends around 1:26). At least it's not Greensleeves? >>]

Aragorn flushed just a little as she pulled him out. While he may be light on his feet and a fair dancer by some accord he could never match the preternatural grace and beauty of the elves. Still, he too much enjoyed dancing with his betrothed to sit it out.

So he joined in with her, moving in time to the music, their movements and steps complimenting each other perfectly.

Watching the dancers had a surprisingly positive effect on her self-confidence; Rosella soon began to relax and settled into the music, her notes slowly becoming clearer and stronger the more she played.

She'd come, like she promised, looking a little shy, but fascinated by all of the different people she saw there, about, all so happy looking, and music and... The Tianzi's eyes were wide, taking in everything from the seat she took to the side, silks arranging about her small person, fingers twining as a small smile took over her face, just watching everyone for now.

C.C wanders in as well, drawn by the music made. It has been a long time since she'd experienced such a thing, and she was attracted. Of course, she notices the Tianzi as well, and she wonders if Xing-ke is aware of the young monarch's presence.

Feeling calm, soothed, the witch strolls over to where the little girl is. "Alone?"

[identity profile] justasystem.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah-" The Tianzi perked up, quick to hop to her feet and smooth her clothes hurriedly, nodding enthusiastically.

"Not anymore?"

C.C sometimes thinks that this child is too idealistic, too soft and naive, and perhaps those traits aren't all that bad, after all. She was still young, still too new to the ways of the world, but she knows that this young girl would be a great monarch to her people.

Sparing her a faint smile, she asks. "Where's Xing-ke?"

[identity profile] justasystem.livejournal.com 2008-08-29 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Mm... I wasn't sure if he'd like this sort of thing... so I thought maybe I'd sneak out and... see if I thought he might like it... and bring him again... sometime?" She stuttered over it a bit, fingers twining.
