Characters; Sado Yasutora (
Summary; Chad, far too kind for his own good, gains a roommate.
Log;
His steps were measured, careful not to drop or injure Chi in any way. She was having fun, giggling and muttering excited "Chii!"s every ten steps or so, but also shifting and flailing constantly, almost causing Chad to drop her once or twice.
Chad had liked the idea of Chi staying with Excel--- Chad had no experience whatsoever in anything girly--- but Chi had kept clinging onto him, looking up with a pleading look. Excel called out to her, but the more Chad tried to let Chi know, somehow, that she should stay with Excel, the more Chi kept shaking her head, tugging at his shirt.
It was perfectly clear; Chi wanted to go with Chad. He had considered leaving, forcing Chi to go inside Excels' apartment, but not only would that have caused Chi to follow him, it would have been wrong, so wrong in so many levels.
"...be careful," he said as Chi wiggled in excitement.

"Chii?" she blinked, leaning forward to peek at Chad as he spoke, her long hair shifting messily forward with the movement. She didn't know the words, but there was no one else there, so he had to be talking to her, wasn't he?

"You don't...understand, do you?"
She didn't understand. Chad pursed his lips, wondering how he could explain to her that she would be staying at his place. And there were some many questions he needed to ask.
He felt not pity for her, but compassion. Chad knew what it was like to be all alone, to have no one understand you, or care for you.
"It's okay. I'll protect you," he said, mostly to himself, hoping that she would at least feel safe around him.

But it didn't really matter too much. The tone of the voice, the softness, meant that the user she'd found didn't mean any harm. She stared down at him from her perch before punctuating the phrase with a "Chii!"

Up the stairs with a girl in his shoulders shouldn't have been easy, but Chad's combined inhuman strength and Chi's lightness speed up the process. With a kick of his long right leg, Chad opened the door of his own apartment.
"Chi..." he said, and suddenly stopped. How could he tell her that she could get off now? He didn't want to pry her off his shoulders, as it would be too sudden and not very gentle. He couldn't just hunch and shake her off his shoulders, as he could injure her.
Now what?
