Summary; The pair head underground to field test Tosh's latest gadget
Log;
They'd agreed to meet at Tosh's flat, so while she waited, she double and triple checked the glove for any sign of fraying or exposed wiring. The last thing they needed was Ianto tasing himself. Or her, for that matter. Tosh definitely preferred to remain in the not-tased category.
She already had her own kit ready -- handgun, comm piece, a small medical kit in the event of an emergency, and her PDA so that she could track both the movements of potential targets and any data from their tests.
Now all she needed was the man who'd be wearing the glove.

[ooc: Sorry for the lateness! I got caught up]

"Is it bad that I'm this excited about getting to do some field work?" She ushered Ianto inside and waved him toward where a pair of black leather gloves were laid out on the kitchen counter. "Left one's got the taser, right one is normal. Go ahead and try them on?"
[ooc: No worries! Glad you got free!]

Nodding at Tosh's instructions, Ianto picked up the gloves and pulled them on, then held his hands out in front of him and flexed them. The left felt very slightly different to the right, but he could hardly tell. "Wow."

"Battery's under here. I'm working on some ideas for increasing the lifespan without increasing battery size, but right now it'll need to be replaced probably after any kind of moderate use. The connection's made when you fasten the snap, and I adjusted the charge so that it requires a fair amount of pressure to be set off. Which means normal movement of your hand, running it through your hair, things like that shouldn't trigger. You'll want to really grab or slap your target."
no subject
"So, once I'm done being your guinea-pig, are you going to be making more? I know Martha's interested."
no subject
Nodding at the question, she added as they headed out the door, "Yes, Martha's next on my list. And then I'll make more for the team if Jack wants to contract for some. Beyond that though, I'm going to be pretty select in vetting any requests. I don't want to just start arming the city ruffians with taser gloves."
no subject
"Mm, no, it's a good idea to keep it select," he said, agreeing. It could end up pretty dangerous if just anyone had them. Ianto was quite pleased that he had the only pair in current existence.

"Have you any particular place in mind to check out? I haven't been Underground beyond the shopping district in a while, not since Luke and I did a little exploring."
no subject
"Not really. I haven't been Underground all that often, so I was kind of relying on you for where to go."

"Interesting how? Torchwood interesting, or interesting otherwise?"
no subject
"Just potentially interesting at the moment," she explained, slowing her steps to study the readout on her PDA, and then directing Ianto around a turn. "But I have hopes of them being Torchwood interesting, considering some of the stories I've heard about this place. Also was hoping some of those zombies might have got left behind down here."
[ooc: I have to disappear for just a little while but I'll be back!]
no subject
"Zombies? I hope they're different to Owen."
[ooc: Okay~]

If they happened to stumble across their missing team member, that would be a nice bonus to the mission, she thought. "Got your torch? We're going to be running out of lights soon."
no subject
If Ianto came across Owen, he may have stunned him anyway, for being an idiot.
"Yup," he replied, pulling it out of his pocket, but not switching it on straight away.
no subject
She probably wouldn't have tried to stop Ianto from stunning Owen if they found him. She was ready to give their wandering team member a piece of her mind.
"So exactly how many jobs are you holding down now, anyway?" she asked with a little grin.
no subject
"Oh, a few," he grinned, not ready to divulge as some of them weren't public knowledge - although Jack knew - and others were merely temporary. Ianto was careful enough that while he worked hard, he didn't let it become too much.
no subject
She fished her own torch out of her pocket and switched it on, holding it in the same hand as her PDA so she had a hand free to draw her gun if necessary. "I think there's a sort of open area down to the right here, maybe originally part of an old building. Luke says there are a lot of those, that maybe sunk or were built over top of. Might be a good place to look."
no subject
Ianto made the motion to get ready to draw his gun, but at the last minute remembered what he was wearing. So, he snapped closed the fastener, which, as far as he knew, activated the glove.
no subject
Fastening the glove did indeed activate it, and Ianto might have noticed a very slight tingle from the electrical charge building. Hopefully, if Tosh's design worked properly, his hand would be shielded from anything more than some very mild heat and static charge.
She did draw her gun, and as they neared the entrance to the area she'd suggested, held up her PDA so Ianto could see the screen, showing two blue blinking dots with letters over their heads (T and A), and two red blinking dots.
no subject
He did feel the slight tingle, but it wasn't at all uncomfortable. It was nice to know that it was working, too.
"That's had better not mean I have a tracker on me," he said with a grin, pointing at the screen with his right hand.
no subject
She nodded at the display. "The two red dots are heat signatures."
[ooc: A? WTF? Sorry Ianto, your name is now spelled Ainto. >.<]
no subject
"So you think they're one of the creatures that are down here? Or possibly just some other people wandering?"
[ooc: Haha oh dear XD]
no subject
"Could be either. Shall we have a look, see if they might provide us with a test subject?"
no subject
"Yup, sounds god to me," Ianto replied, resisting the urge to put his hands in his pockets.
