MOON FESTIVAL; OPEN LOG

When; September 14th, evening
Rating; G-PG
Characters; Tianzi [[livejournal.com profile] justasystem], Xing-ke [[livejournal.com profile] againstasystem], and anyone invited, or who wants to show up!
Summary; Preparations for the Moon Festival, complete! Open to anyone invited or looking for a nice evening.
Log;

This was something familiar, though she herself had never taken part in the preparations. The moon festival was always a big celebration in the Chinese Federations' capital, and Luoyang was always decked in an army of brightly colored lanterns. So she'd gotten some hung up in the trees, (not that she could reach them by herself), and they did make her smile. It wasn't the same as in the capitol, but that was why she liked it. The Outside world.

A full moon, it was perfect, right, and no clouds...

"How beautiful..." The small Empress murmured, head tipping back to look up. A mooncake in her hand, half eaten. People would come, and it would be a good time, she was sure. She had even tried hard to make one without eggs. It wouldn't be good, to not be able to eat a mooncake today. Not with as many friends were here and would come.

[ooc; open to everyone, as said, and if you want to address a certain person, just label it, otherwise, I'll probably tag you, or someone else will! Hopefully this can be fun, mm? ♥ And if you aren't much for logging, you can assume your character was here.]

The look of wonderment the Tianzi had worn so much in this city never ceased to warm his heart. The night was made that much better, having the approval of his esteemed leader. He had his own mooncake in hand but he hadn't taken a bite. He wasn't hungry and was still suppressing pain. This night, though, wasn't about him. It was about the Tianzi.

"It's nice, isn't it? Do you think it's different here than it is back in China?"

"It is the same moon everywhere you go, just different from where you're seeing it."

The stories and folklore were always different, no matter how unified the world was. How much the Tianzi had heard, he did not know. There was one thing that always came to mind when he saw the moon.

"Do you actually think there is a woman on the moon?"

His own eyes gravitated over to his hand, staring absentmindedly at the mooncake. He hadn't even taken a bite even though the Tianzi had made it herself. After realizing how rude he had been, he brought it up to his mouth and wordlessly took a bite. After chewing and swallowing, he spoke up.

"It's fine. I had forgotten I was holding it. My apologies."

"...ah."

He was a little taken aback by this ritual, only because he wasn't expecting it. He looked at the Tianzi and gave her a smile.

"Is it my turn now?"

Oh Tianzi

A white rabbit appeared with neither grass in its paws nor a fire in its eyes. But there was something burning in its gaze still, like the stars in the sky set in emeralds. Its nose twitched as it approached the Tianzi, more importantly, her mooncakes.

Xing-ke stood up, keeping the fruit on his own head steady. He took the fruit the Tianzi had and held it high over her head.

Slowly, he brought it down, gently setting it on top of her white hair.

"How long can you keep it balanced?"

"If you're sure."

He slowly walked his way over to the food table, stopping momentarily once he passed the Tianzi.

"If you need anything, let me know."

Xing-ke didn't intend to leave her alone. He just wished to see if she would try to follow.

WHY YES

Its nose flickered like the shadows of a flame, or twitched as lapin noses are wont to do, when she held the morsel out. It wouldn't matter to this rabbit, half eaten or whole, because it was after all just a creature. Still it lifted its paw in curiosity, smelling the mooncake before it began to nibble on the shaped rim.

The general looked over his shoulder, seeing the Tianzi struggling along. He slowed his pace to a crawl, so she could catch up.

"Nothing at all?"

[identity profile] 2nd-dream-king.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
The rabbit tilted its head curiously. It ceased its nibbling to sit tall on its haunches, though it wasn't a large rabbit by any means. Then for a moment it locked eyes with the Tianzi, and in its gaze was the glory and magic of an old world, of cranes for suns, butterfly lovers, and immortality. And then again, it was only a rabbit.

It offered her no answer save for the stroke of its ears. Grooming see. It began to nibble again.

Xing-ke gave her a respectful nod.

"If that is your choice."

Of course, during his nod, his fruit rolled off his head. His hand snapped out and grabbed it during it's fall.

And there was bloodshed in the past, in the present, and in her future, because she lived in the World of the Waking, and it was these things that defined the magic of her empire. Just as a dusty boy with a crutch for a leg dreamed of flying carpets and enchanted lamps.

The rabbit blinked its bright green eyes as any rabbit would in bidding her the same. And it continued to nibble, minding its own business.

Her loyal servant was already there, kneeling down with a look of concern on his face. He held out a hand to help her back up.

"You should be a little more careful, Tianzi."
