Log - Complete
When: The blood curse.
Rating: PG - possibly getting higher (this is Aleera, after all).
Characters: Aleera and the Rani.
Princess Anna... To say that Aleera had got a little fixated with her, would perhaps be an understatement. Even the mortal had complained, soon after Van Helsing's arrival, of the red-haired vampiress showing particular interest in her. The youngest of Dracula's three 'brides', she might be, but Aleera had proven to be no less viciously capable than her brethren.
In the beginning of her dimensional captivity in this place, she had even blamed the woman for transporting her there and now... Now Aleera had found her. Or at least, one who claimed ignorance, yet somehow wore Anna's face.
What better way, the vampiress had suggested, than to prove her correct, one way or the other, than to gain a hint of the brunette's flavour...?
Perhaps the Rani would not have been so agreeable, had she known the redhead's true nature...
With dusk having fallen and the stench of so much blood reeking across the landscape, the reinvigorated Aleera wasted no time in taking flight for the destination of fountain. The thought of Anna as drenched in blood as herself... It was a powerful image for one of such sadistically killing nature. Even so, she descended in near-silence. Perhaps the lack of Anna's genuine scent would have been enough for a verification of identity, but the stench of blood was masking that. Not just from the residents of this place, but from that still covering Aleera, herself, in a slick coating of crimson fluid.
"Hello, Anna...!"
She had approached from behind with predatory gaze radiating a hauntingly ethereal purple, if only for a moment. Rarely was the time when Aleera had felt so ravishingly empowered and this day had brought her that.
Perhaps it had returned to her a favoured would-be victim, too?

For the last time, I'm not Anna. I'm the Rani.

Aleera's smile refused to waver. She was intent on resuming what she had been sure would be the young woman's death, upon crumbling bridge under storm. That she now saw Anna's likeness in blood, was somewhat akin to an awe-inspiring work of art.
And Aleera liked it.
Rounding upon potential prey, the vampiress took quite some pleasure with inhaling this particular scent. The blood might not be Anna's, but she could imagine it as being so. Perhaps soon, it would be.
But it was at that moment when quite the anomaly was detected. One of sound, a good deal quieter than most human ears would sense. Aleera, however, was not human and offered a most confused frown.
"Your pulse quickens, perhaps?" She asked, nothing but puzzled at this new development. "Why do I hear two...?"
For Gallifreyan anatomy differed in one very important respect to that of humans. Primarily, in its circulatory system.
[OOC: Apologies for the wait - late night at theatre production!]

Yes. I have two hearts, because I'm not human.

Aleera's expression was either blank or registering confusion now. The more focused she became, the more obvious it was that the woman spoke truth: She did, indeed, have two hearts.
Which only seemed to make Aleera that much more suspicious.
"Not human..." She spoke, closing in an almost shark-like manner. Hand moving up to mouth, for a casually thoughtful lick of that mysteriously renewing blood from fingers. "How is this so...?"

"Two hearts... How thoughtful of you."
Reaching out to trail a finger down the Rani's own burden of plasma, however, the resulting liquid, once brought up to nose, seemed to regist in an expression of severe distaste. Up until now, Aleera had mostly been detecting the overwhelming whiff of blood all over the realm, but this substance... Some extraterrestrial species might well be compatible with Aleera's tastes, but quite a number of the Rani's previous victims, quite obviously, were not.
Which seemed to change everything.
"Revolting filth!"

As you see, I am not the person you believed I was.

The Rani, of course, might well be compatible. What was smeered upon her, however, was not. Or at least, did not smell as if it would be.
"And what should this... 'Time Lady' be called?"

Again, Aleera found more reason for confusion. This was as puzzling as the one who called himself 'the Doctor', who she so often simply named as 'the physician'. Aleera had no reason to fully expect the two were from one and the same place yet, but that existed as at least one similarity between the two individuals.
So, this... 'Rani' held no identification. Upon being earlier informed of it, she had assumed it was little more than a title, much as her own 'Master' was sometimes known as 'the Count', such was his historical privelage. This, though, was quite different.
"You should not take faces, unless from the dead, lady," the vampiress advised with a partially fanged smile. "Anna is wanted for crimes against my family. I think it best they are not so fooled, in future... I shall tell them."
With that, Aleera took flight for the sky. The Rani might have escaped an erstwhile certain death, but it seemed that Aleera was now to do the Gallifreyan an inadvertant favour, by informing her ilk of a mistaken identity wandering in their midst.
And with such a predatory creature now being known of, should the Rani wish harm upon an enemy, Aleera's presence might just provide her with a key to reinvoke some of her more dangerous past...

This face is new to me, and I did not steal it. It was given as part of my regeneration...
[She watches Aleera leave...and only when she is gone does her expression melt into one of mild interest...]
