Summary: After thinking he'd never see her again, Reinette appears in the City and the Doctor is thrilled.
Log:

The Doctor ran. He had run for a lot of reasons in the past. Running away from something that was scary and running to something because it was urgent to be somewhere were the two most frequent reasons and he loved it. But he enjoyed running the most when it was too someone he wanted to see. And the Doctor wanted to see Reinette, the girl he thought he'd never see again was here in the City.

He rounded the corner the fountain came into view and she was standing there. Ohhh, but she was beautiful and radiant and so full of life even from a distance. He stopped running about halfway to her, stopping a moment to smooth his hair and his suit. You did not meet Jean-Antoinette Poisson looking like you had just run a marathon.

With a smile that refused to leave his face the Doctor approached her and spread his arms wide.

"Ohhh, Reinette," he said. "It's good to see you!"

"I must act like a child to get what I want?" she asked, laughing. "Although, I do believe the end would more than justify the means, so perhaps I would not mind it so much."

"Doctor," she asked, laughter fading into a contemplative smile, "Do you know how long it has been since we last danced?"

“Then dance with me, Doctor,” she said, facing him again. “I know it has been a long time, but surely you have not forgotten how.”

Reinette placed her hand in his, smiling. She knew he wouldn’t have forgotten. Even if he had, she would not have minded teaching him again. “It is your turn to lead, Doctor.”

Reinette raised her arm and rested her other hand on this shoulder, smiling as he swept across the room, imagining the music in her head. “Your dancing has improved, Doctor,” she teased. “Have you been practising?”

“All of your hard work has indeed paid off. I must congratulate you, for you very well may be my most accomplished student to date, sir,” she said with a laugh.

“She was not sure you would learn very much, either. You were a very difficult student, unwilling to learn at first,” she said. “But she was very happy when you changed your mind.”

"Your protests said otherwise," Reinette said, laughing. "What would you call it, if not being difficult?"

"What would you rather have done that night than dance with me, Doctor," she asked, her voice affecting an offended tone.

"I could not have cared what we did," she replied, sharing his smile, "so long as we spent that time together. But I, too, am glad we danced that night."

"I suppose we will," she said, voice low. "You've a big imagination, Doctor; I am sure you will be able to come up with something."

Reinette let the movements of her legs become more deliberate, slowing their pace around the room. “And in what way do I inspire you now, Doctor? In this moment?”

"How scandalous a suggestion you make," she said a bit breathlessly, cheeks flushed from the warmth of his touch. "And yet, I must admit how inspired I am to allow you to do so."
