Summary; Coffee and gossip!
Log;

Reeve waited at one of the outdoor tables on the sidewalk outside Pandora. OK, so he was biased. She hadn't expressed a preference, and this was his favorite place to get coffee in the city. Yes, it was fancy, and fine, he couldn't really afford it right now, but that was a problem for another day. Besides, here he'd always met Amanda for their strategy sessions, and he had a good feeling about Rose. She reminded him of his friends who'd left already. He quashed the thought, "had left him behind." They'd gone, whether they had any choice in the matter. He was still here. Maybe Rose would seek escape as eagerly as he did.

Really! A machine that allowed you to travel through time and dimensions? The possibilities were incredible, and it seemed the perfect thing to get him out of here -- to get everyone out of here. He was already scheming; with Rose's help maybe he could pick up where Amanda'd left off, maybe start working on Cait again...

It was good to have something to work for again.

He scanned the street before him, idly watching the passers-by and sipping his coffee, waiting for the lady to arrive.

The blonde made her way towards Pandora’s walking calmly with her hands in her jacket pockets. She really hadn’t been to the establishment in quite some time, at least not since her arrival back in the City but at least the route was familiar enough. There was no getting lost for her. She started to think about all the things she could tell Reeve. All the different planets and places and about the TARDIS, of course. She had briefly mentioned it over the network but it was much better to discuss things in person. Maybe she could even show him, though she would need access again. She frowned for a second as she turned a corner. But surely the Doctor would give her access. She just needed to see him again and explain things. That was going to be one hell of a conversation when the time came. Hopefully he wasn't getting into too much trouble.

Soon, the building came into view and she looked around at the outside tables for some sign of her new and interesting friend. Seeing a table with just one man in it, she slowly approached and gave him a small smile.

"Reeve, yeah?"

Rose withdrew both hands from her pockets and extended one towards his to shake it with her smile intact. "It’s nice to meet you as well. I know at long last!" She said her last statement coming with a slight laugh. Usually people tended to disappear in the City but she had met a lot of nice and interesting people so far. Hopefully Reeve wouldn’t be disappearing anytime soon as he seemed like the nice and interesting sort.

Letting go of his hand, the blonde pulled back a seat across from him and sat down. "Thank you. Um," she bit her lip debating between coffee and tea. Usually she’d have coffee first thing in the morning though lately tea was starting to become a habit again.

"It’s fine. I’ll just order a coffee." She said looking around and then flagging down a waitress. She gave her the order and then looked at Reeve.

"Would you like anything else?"

In the City coffee for Rose was just on some mornings and maybe on some nights just before work. Back home it was entirely different since she lived off the stuff with the hopes of finishing that dimension canon faster. Not that it had really worked in the end. It had been a complete accident one day.

“Sure, that’d be fine,” she replied with a grin a bit surprised by his offer but not one to decline it. She canceled her coffee and ordered some scones instead. She wasn’t sure if Reeve had ever had scones before since food tended to vary from planet to planet from her experiences but hopefully he’d like it.

She leaned back in her chair completely relaxed, pondering her first question.

"So, I suppose I could tell you all about the TARDIS, but first can you tell me a bit more about your planet?" She asked, always one to be very curious about things, especially when it came to other worlds. She wondered if the Doctor had heard of such a place. She'd have to ask him about it sometime. Or maybe even John.

The blonde took the mug but didn’t quite bring it to her lips. "Thank you," she said with a smile before she started to talk about the old blue wooden police box that she once called home.

“"It’s pretty amazing,” she said recalling the ship fondly. “It has all sorts of rooms. Almost like a maze. You can get pretty lost in it sometimes." She warned, remembering several times when she had gotten lost. "Oh and she’s telepathic!" She added missing Reeve’s sad smile. There had been a time once when she believed that the blue ship could actually take her home, to her proper home. Now however she knew that, that was impossible.

She paused for a moment to bring the mug to her lips, taking a small sip of the coffee. It was actually good, not that she had expected it to be bad really. "Well anything else that you’d like to tell me. Do you have any flying zeppelins? How did you and your girlfriend meet?"

"She is!" she replied with a wide grin not minding the ramble. It reminded her of the Doctor. "And once you’re inside or close to her, she can translate any known language! Like this one time me and my mate were on this ship and came across this time window thing and the other person was speaking French but it was all in English and then there was..." her voice trailed off as she recalled the only time that the TARDIS didn’t translate back on that base. "Um, anyway. She’s not really my ship. She’s the Doctor’s ship. They grow it, I think. It’s an alien thing. Gallifreyan." And now she was the one rambling on and on. She gave a small laugh, "Sorry about that. I sounded just like him for a second."

She shook her head and focused on the coffee, taking another sip before continuing. It was interesting hearing about the airships. "Ah, I’ve actually encountered a few of those during my travels. Good way to get around."

"So you and your girlfriend. Out with it. I bet it must have been interesting, yeah?" There was a smile that played on her lips at the question. "I’ll tell you how I met the Doctor." She offered, thinking that perhaps he’d find it interesting.

"Not my ship," she corrected again. It’d never be her ship. It was too complicated and alien though she would always consider it to be home in some distant memory. "It’s the Doctor’s." She said proudly with a grin. She really couldn’t wait to show him sometime. She listened on to his explanation about his planet finding it interesting that there were no nations or countries. "Ah, so like a monarch then," she replied. "Business-like." She really hadn’t been to a world that was quite like that.

"Well," she said with a knowing grin holding up her mug. "That’s certainly a good bonding point. Nothing draws people closer than wanting to save your own planet."

"Grow her?" she repeated arching an eyebrow and then laughing. "No, we couldn’t grow her." That’d probably take lots of time. Not that she had ever thought about it really. "She’s here actually. I’ll show her to you when I have access again."

"Oh she is just simply amazing!" Rose informed, setting her mug down. "Well she tried to once." She glanced down sadly for a second before tucking some strands of hair behind her ears and looking at Reeve. "She’s tricky. You really don’t like it here very much do you?"

The blonde gave a nod along with a small smile at his story. "Sounds like quite the story. I bet she must miss you."

[identity profile] hisplusone.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Something like that…But yeah I’m sure we can maybe come up with something." She said not about to give up on it even though she really didn’t want to go home but if she could help Reeve get back somehow, she’d do it. She missed her teleport jumper. Hopefully it still wasn’t functioning.

"Well you know, they say that time stops when you’re here. When you get back it’ll be like no time’s passed at all." She reassured, stating it as fact and it really was from what she had researched thus far.

"She probably has...It happens when you go back."

[identity profile] hisplusone.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"I," she paused for a moment. Some days she did miss home. Her mum, her little baby brother, even her dad who had done so much for her when she was trapped and determined to find a way back. "I try to take the active approach. It's not really all that easy to stay here some days." Especially on those horrid curse days. "So I just do my best. You said you had mates here, yeah?"

She arched an eyebrow looking at him curiously. "If things were constant here, it'd be a tad boring. So you've been here before then?" She had discussed this once with Rudy which had lead to some theories about alternate dimensions and different versions of people. "With no memory of your stay?"

"Well their mates are probably here," she guessed. "That’d make anyone happy." Especially if the circumstances of their home world prevented them from seeing each other again. And then of course there were those interesting people that one wouldn’t get to meet anywhere else. "Saving the world, or worlds does tend to bring people close." She said smiling fondly as it reminded her of how close she was once to the Doctor and Jack.

But then that fond smile disappeared and she got serious again listening. "Ah, right..." her voice trailed off for a second. "I know how that is. Your mind gets all fuzzy at first. Surreal, yeah."
