When: Wednesday [11-5]
Rating: PG-ish
Characters: Rain [livejournal.com profile] livingmyths, Tony Stark [livejournal.com profile] morethanasuit, Mat Cauthon [livejournal.com profile] bloodygoodluck
Summary: Rain comes down with a bad case of influenza.
Log:

Rain had started feeling sick sometime during the day Monday and had been feeling pretty miserable by Tuesday. Not that it had stopped her from showing up at the library to work, though she thought the Library itself might have lulled her off to sleep once or twice while she was doing some work at a desk. She hadn't slept well Tuesday night, fever dreams - nightmares, really - waking her up repeatedly. The cough and persistent headache hadn't helped either.

It took all she had to drag herself from her far too comfortable bed and get ready for work on Wednesday morning, feeling so weak she could barely dress herself. Still, work was important, so she got ready as best she could and headed off, starting a voice post on the way which was abruptly ended when she collapsed barely a hundred yards from her house.

The instant Tony noticed Rain's voice post cut off so abruptly he had left the police station and was flying out to her house. Fortunately there had been no sounds of an attack or struggle, although he couldn't imagine who would want to hurt Rain. Because if anybody did hurt her, Tony would make sure that they would regret that there was no death in the City.

When he arrived though he didn't see any signs of a struggle and it only took a quick glance around for him to spot her. Quickly going over to her he pressed a cool metal hand to her forehead, frowning at the fever.

"Oh Rain, sweetie," he murmured to her as he tenderly picked her up. "Why didn't you tell anyone you were sick?"

Swearing under his breath at the cut off post, Mat instantly made his way to her house. He cared about her. Burn him if he didn't. And something was wrong.

What he found there was the man who'd stunned him back during the Police curse and Rain. A very ill Rain. Swearing again, he made his way over.

He'd ignore the other man for now.

"Blood and bloody ashes. When did this happen?"

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Iron Man glanced up at the other man before turning his attention back to Rain.

"No, you're not going into work today," he told her, running his gauntlet fingers through her sweat matted hair. "You're sick Rain, very sick. We need to get you to a doctor so you can get better."

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Mat frowned. He wasn't entirely sure about all of the doctors here. Especially after his encounter with House.

"Work is a bloody, flaming bad idea."

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"He's right," Tony said, standing up as he continued to hold Rain in her arms. "You're too sick to go to work. If nothing else, you'll get other people there sick. We need to get you to a hospital."

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Blood and bloody ashes, you're almost as bad as the women back home when it comes to this." Mat ignored Iron Man in favor of feeling her forehead. He wasn't good with this kind of thing but he'd do his best.

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Tony sighed inside of the armor. Of course it had to be complicated. Well, if necessary he would take her against her wishes.

"What if we found a doctor to come here and look at you?" he asked.

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Mat swore...again. He was particularly good at that in times like this. "Where are the bloody Wise Women when you need them?"

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Would you please watch your language?" Tony growled at the other man. He debated just flying off with Rain but he knew that she wouldn't want there to be any tension between her friends.

"If I let you rest in your bed will you at least take something for your fever?" he asked her.

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I will not watch my bloody language. I'm busy worrying about Rain." That said, he ignored the man in the suit...or he hoped that was the case.

"You need to get home and in bed. A message can be delivered about work."

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Alright, I'll take you to your bed," he said, already heading back towards her house.

"And we won't argue so long as he does what I say."

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
There was plenty of irritated muttering as he followed. He wasn't going to promise that.

"Just rest, Rain."

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Tony carried Rain all the way back to her bed before carefully tucking her in. He also got a cool wash cloth and placed it on her head to help with the fever.

"She needs a doctor," he said. "Or the very least, something for the fever."

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Mat held her hand even after she'd been put in bed. If she wanted it, she could have it. The other man though...

"So go get one."

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Fine," Tony said before jabbing a finger at the other man. "But don't do anything stupid while I'm gone. Make sure she rests, keep that cloth cool, and see that she gets plenty of fluids. I don't want to come back and find out you've done anything else."

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Tony received a glare for all his efforts. Mat had no problem showing his dislike for him. "If you don't get a doctor soon then she's going to get worse, you bloody fool. Stop telling me what to do and get one already."

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't get mad at me because you're helpless," Tony said. He wasn't angry at the other man anymore. 'Mat' was useless here and Tony could understand how that would frustrate someone. Turning back to Rain he leaned forward and pressed his forehead to hers.

"I'll be back soon with something to help you feel better," he assured her.

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Mat just muttered something about people getting in his head as he moved so sit on the bed next to Rain. "Fine. I'll take care of her until you get back."

[identity profile] morethanasuit.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Tony was gone shortly after that, flying away as quickly as he could. Mat looked like a clueless yokel from the Dark Ages, probably not a lot of help with illnesses. The sooner Tony was back the sooner Rain could work on getting better.

[ooc: Not sure if you two wanted some one on one time with Rain and Mat. If so, here's your chance.]

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Once the man was gone, Mat left Rain long enough to get her some water. Then he helped her sit up slightly. "Here. Something to drink. Just a few sips though." He'd seen Nynaeve do it this way. So it had better be right.

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Alright." He helped settle her back down onto the bed. What was worse was that he didn't know what to do for her. Mat wasn't a healer and he didn't really know anything about herbs.

And his bloody memories weren't kicking in to help him either.

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's alright, Rain. Just rest. I won't leave." Mat moved closer so she would have to reach for him.

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Mat shook his head. "I said I won't leave and I meant it."

He brushed her hair with his fingers. This was the best he could do for her. And he'd do it well.

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
He smiled down at her. "I'm glad you think so. Now, just rest. Your voice too."

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"You'll be alright. There will a doctor here soon. But, you'll be alright," he assured her.

[identity profile] bloodygoodluck.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Go ahead and sleep. I'll stay right here," he paused then added, "I give you my word."
