Log: Complete
When; Nov. 10 (late morning?)
Rating; PG (like the movies, maybe)
Characters; Caspian X
treadingdawn, Susan Pevensie
lionesssejant, Jadis the White Witch
queenoftraitors
Summary; Some journeys take us far from home. Some adventures lead us to our destiny.
Log;
Destrier tossed his head, ill at ease to be so close to the White Witch's home. Horses had that sixth sense you know. The edge of white glistening snow drew nearer and nearer. Caspian glanced aside to Susan and her steed, perhaps they should hitch the horses here, within running distance. Just for safety's sake.
And for safety's sake, he was carrying both Rhindon and his own sidesword at his hip.
[ooc: Caspian, Susan, Jadis for tagging order!]

It was nothing but emphasis, but she'd seen Caspian eying the wand, and it amused her to try and unnerve the pair.

The implication was you require us to bear arms, but Caspian held his tongue, meanwhile his temper was aching to break free of its chains. He pointed to her, rude, but he was descended from those barbaric Telmarines after all, right?
"Peter and Edmund. If you have nothing to hide then perhaps you would put your wand down," he said with an attempt at sounding authoritative. He was king, he ought to sound like one.

"And we will not lift ours." If there is no reason to. Oh how this witch is an awful person.
Susan takes a look to Caspian, he is doing rather well so far. Hopefully he'll not speak too hotly.

These people specifically.
"You come into my realm, bearing weapons, and you make veiled suggestions that I've harmed your dear brothers. I can hardly be expected to put aside my own means of defense."

She must answer. Would it be the truth? There should have been more planning. It was too late of notice. And it wouldn't do the City well to make enemies with this witch. Not at all. Susan willed herself to stand her ground like Caspian.

"Harm them? Not in the least. Have I made any threat at all against them? All I have ever done is offer my hospitality. And if young Peter and young Edmund wished to accept my offer, surely they would have left word with their dear sisters and dear friend."

Unfortunately for the much more level-headed Susan, Caspian was far from amused by Jadis' answer. His temper was starting to rear its ugly head as evident by how he took another step forward. Stand your ground, don't fear your enemy, and never let them see you sweat. He closed his hand around Rhindon's hilt but made no motion to draw the broadsword. Not yet.
"Peter knew what was coming. Edmund left without a word."

If he approached any closer, the very delicately placed civility they came bearing would not last.
no subject
"Then would your argument not be with Edmund? It would seem he's not grown so much yet that he's overcome that habit."

He was just as quick, drawing his Telmarine sword first, the blade retooled by the dwarfs. It wasn't as majestic as Rhindon nor did it have the noble history as Rhindon, but it was his most familiar arm, one he was ready to lash out at Jadis if she made an aggressive move. That wand pointing at him barely fell short of aggressive. Only Susan's grip on his clothes kept him at bay.

That wand, why did it have to be here? It was one of her most powerful assets. And it was pointing right at Caspian. Slowly, with her free arm, she pulled her bow from her shoulder. A sword could not strike the witch if she chose to move, an arrow on the other hand...

"You dare stand at the seat of my power and make threats against me? Your Peter and Edmund are beyond your reach now. Think carefully on your next words, if you would escape their fate."

Caspian's temper flared. Were those words true? Even if they weren't, he was more than sure that Jadis the White Witch would not be missed. He tightened his grip on the sword and spun forward into a lunge, drawing the cut and thrust blade down in an attempt to slice from shoulder to hip. Nevermind that Susan had been holding on to the newly made king. He tore away from her like a newly made fool. But Caspian was more than aware of that wand, and he was ready to draw Rhindon, Peter's sword, the sword of the High King, as his shield.

No one dear to me would be lost this day, Susan promised herself releasing the arrow.

The arrow buried itself in her shoulder, and Jadis screamed from anger, dropping the wand into the snow. She reached up and snapped the shaft in half, then caught Susan's gaze before raising her sword and swinging furiously down toward Caspian.

"Hurry!" The bowstring leaving her fingers nearly burned with Susan's haste. Her aim this time lacked the same degree of focus as the first.

The arrow from Susan's bow cut through the fabric of Jadis's sleeve, leaving a gash in her flesh, but the witch only focused the brief pain and surge of renewed anger into her attack on the boy before her.

He used Rhindon to parry, this time his grip more solid and sure as he was unable to reach the other sword he'd dropped. One on one, it evened out the odds perhaps, but Caspian didn't want to fight Jadis fairly, presuming that she wouldn't give him the same courtesy. When their blades clashed he slid Rhindon's edge along her own weapon, dropping into a crouch where one knee kissed the snow to strike at her own, anything to keep Jadis from coming after them once more. It left him open to attack from above without a second sword or shield.

It left Susan an opening, however, as the witch was forced to turn and expose her side and back.
no subject
"Susan, go!" He shouted to her, waving his good arm which unfortunately was not the arm holding Rhindon. But Caspian's grip on that sword was firm. He could stand to lose the Telmarine sword, he could not stand to lose Rhindon. Rather than strike at the Witch's opening, he swallowed his temper and pride and made to retreat.

"Run then, child queen! Call retreat, little king! When your shadows darken the snow here a second time, it will be your deaths!"
